Clayton is the best teacher on you tube he has a special talent that many other just dont have nice work clayton keep the videos of Ice fishing coming because her in ohio we have zero ice
Appreciate the kind words :)
We really appreciate that you take the time to show baits, equipment and how to use them. It’s like being a entertaining fishing class room with great footage. Best fishing channel out there. Me and my friends are already catching more fish using the info that we learn here. Great video. Thanks for working your butt of to put them out for us.
Thanks for the kind words :)
WTH CSO and 39hrs on the same day.......AAHHHHH this is heaven!
Right? Best day ever :)
Next 39hrs boot AP to curb, Clayton and Eric would be a team!
Holy subs Batman! Ol shick is climbing the ladder quick ! About time ! Congrats
he's very deserving of it
Climbing fast :)
Great too see these monsters being caught there big clayton👍
Was a good day!
What's extra nice is when you use a very heavy white cord with black backdrop to demonstrate how to tie various knots.
Great content as always 🤙 I hope there is more lake trout vids to come,
Keep up the great work !!
you're camera work and editing is some good stuff bro, I loved this vid the background music really set the tone lbs
for sure!
Appreciate the kind words :)
Always enjoy your videos and appreciate the fact I can allow my kids to watch your videos without having to worry about inappropriate content-thank you!
Will always be appropriate for anyone to watch :) That is the way I want it... Thank you for watching!
Gotta love catching big mamas, I cleaned up on them last week as well with a similar setup! Great video Clayton!
Great pike video. Lots of valuable information, great job!
Your a genius man,
I am so addicted to videos like this. Great video Clayton!
Great timing on this one! Taking my daughter on her first-ever ice fishing trip for pike this week. First time I've rigged a tip up in 20 years (sadly)
Glad to have you back on the Dark Side lol. Hope your daughter land a decent gator.
@@goodbyemr.anderson5065 She did and wants to go back and do it again. Success
You're welcome for that Cisco bait! ;)
Why thank you :)
Thanks Clayton, nice little warm up for 39 hrs
Great info as always, very descriptive and easy to follow. All the extra work you put in behind the scenes is going to continue to pay off! There’s a ton that’s involved running that much equipment! Keep it up 🍻
Thanks for the kind words :)
Gator Cam footage was awesome Clayton , Cheers and thanks for the upload !✔
i fricken love your videos ! so informative.
thumbs up for pike series! they were getting jealous of all the walleye videos
Yes they were :)
Love tip-up fishing for pike. Nicely done, Clayton. After watching your video - now, I want to go.
Heck ya! Cheers!
Great video, the underwater footage was fun to watch. I also liked that you described the setup.
That underwater footage was EPIC!!!!!
Cheers!
Hammer handles, slough sharks, water wolf, gators and snot rockets are a few more...great work Clayton keep it up
So many good names!! :)
Good setup clay👊🤝👌
BEST YT CHANNEL EVER!
Really appreciate the love :)
You have quickly become my favorite fishing UA-cam channel. Keep up the great videos.
Thank you for watching :)
Why am I not subscribed to your mother trucken deadly channel??
Boom subbed. Btw all you guys are a massive inspiration to document my fishing trips. I always enjoyed filming my hunting, dirt biking, and sledding trips and watching them during the off season for each sport, but I've never gotten any good footage of the monster fish I catch😜😜😜😜😜 or even the small ones.
Love your videos, way better the uncut angling simply because your voice is not annoying like wiebes.
Cheers!!
Wow... your gear is awesome. Your set up is crazy. I never landed a pike. Take Care and Keep Exploring The Outdoors.
Cheers!!
Awesome video Clayton you should think about making some more tip up pike videos!
Good looking snot rocket anyday! Wished we had ice this year.
What a time to turn on youtube. 42 seconds after you upload a video. And a jack video.
Great video Clayton! Lots of good tips, excellent capture of the pike on the Aqua Vu, can't beat that.
More to come :)
Great video man. Love the in depth talk.
That's a lot work involved bud. Thanks for the vid. We might not even get any safe ice in the Buffalo N.Y. area this season. Open water everywhere.
Awesome underwater STRIKE footage Clayton! I'm sure you know them Gators are GREAT EATIN!
That's funny, I've never seen anyone else call them gators, that's what me and my boys call them. And yes those gators are tasty if you can clean them properly.
My wife and I like to can them, then the bones just dissolve during the pressure cooking stage.
Fish is Fun!! So is watching your videos, but fishing is funner!!!
Fishing is funner :)
Clayton thank you so much for another awesome video I love the pike fishing keep them coming buddy
Snot rocket special, awesome video as usual Clayton
haha Yup :) Cheers!
Great Video!! Always enjoy your work, I always rig my dead baits vertical and no more than a 2 inch spread between hooks, always seems to work for me.. Keep up the good work
It was hot out when you filmed!!! Bet it isn't now!! Fabulous video. I have used the uni-knot for 38 years. That's how long have been fishing (not all at one time!!!). Your saltwater knot is cool. I use a hokey version of it. I do not know what it is called, though it could be called the stupid knot. Great info on the steel flexible braid, and on everything else. Great video!!!!
Yes, it was warm then! :)
Awesome video!
Use a standard old aerator pump like the ones Frabill and others make for minnow buckets to keep the holes open. Put the stone into the hole and turn it on. I recently fished Bay NeNoc in the U.P. of Michigan using Jaw Jackers and the aerators kept the holes open the entire day. Mine run about 4 + days of use on one pair of batteries .
Great idea! :)
Don’t you love it when plan comes together!
Yes :)
I've seen that loop knot called a Rapalla loop knot also. I use the snot out of it. Richard Gene the fishing machine has a very convenient loop knot for tying jigs that I would recommend to anyone it's quick and simple.
Love the tips! I know what you mean about putting the rod in the snow for the Ifish pro. Haven't got anything on one yet. But I found the line was out of the way of the flag when I put the rod a bit further away then what it was in the holder.
Yup! 100%
Your videos amaze me
Appreciate the love :)
I’m a new subscriber and I just wanna say I’m impressed with the videos. I love all the different camera angles and the quality of the vids. Keep slaying them big fish and keep up the good work👍
Thank you for the kind words! :)
Winners gonna be over here in South Dakota soon
Great video again man. Love your stuff. Been wanting to see some Pike. Love it!
More to come :)
Where do you buy the smaller Cisco in sask? The other day I landed a 40" mama at crooked using Chun mackerel from superstore. Big bait so dont catch often. But better then little smelts from Coop
Killing it man! Just ordered my hat after you told me they weren’t sold out! Haha
Holy crap you already doubled your subscribers! Thays crazy haha congrats man!
Hope it got to you :) If not should be soon :) Cheers my man!
Good.
ty for all the wonderiful videos. what line did you put on on your reals
Helpful video👍👍
Do you use braided line on the rod? What test? I've always used braided before the swivel on my tip ups in the past, but never used a i fish pro with a rod. Just curious if you prefer a braided or just high pound test flora etc for the reel. Thanks for all the info. Your videos are the best.
Underrated channel get this man more subs!
Thanks for the kind words :)
Nice vid! Also nice desert camo on the lower half of your truck :D
YES!! Little dirty :)
Excellent video !! Lots of good info!!
Thanks
That's one sexy bunny hug, Clayton. 😅😅😅😅😅😅 and Clayton i noticed u have a different truck in this vid? U buy a new truck every year dude?
I went ice fishing the other for the first time and caught 3 fish
The other what?? I'm confused.
I hope you keep at it. Congrats on a successful first trip.
My first time ice fishing i caught 4 fish speckled trout
Grrrreat vid my man
Thanks dude :)
Non slip loop knot or Rapala knot are other names for the loop knot
Clayton I'd love to take you to some amazing lakes with some pigs in it up to 40" plus..........
I'm waiting for my lake to finish freezing. There are 40 lb and up pigs in there waiting to be caught. Nice pike. Those I fish pro's look pretty slick. May have to pick one up.
giants!! Cheers!
Love it!!!
I don’t always go after pike but when I do I always fish half way down to the bottom. 10’ is where all my +40” fish have came from. Biggest U.S. pike is a 43.5” and my biggest Ontario is 46”. My grandparents used to own a cabin on an island up there in Lake of the woods.
They always look up :)
Freaking LOVE your detail bud.
Thanks dude! Cheers!
I love my otter hoody love it geting a couple more this year
The hoodies are awesome!
Nothing wrong with pike through the ice, open water is a different story unless your targetting pike in the 42" plus range!
Poker 2020
Pike out of the ice is one of the best tasting fish.
Out in front of my cabin up here in Canuck land they will run between 36"-44" long. Lots of meat on a fish like that.
@@ajmeier01
Prime genes to turn in steaks
I bet the Wisconsin boys loved this one!
Damn straight!
Hope so! :) Cheers!
Rapala knot is the more common term for the non slip loop knot.
Pikes!!!
Catching a lot of Tullibee this winter and releasing them. Do you know if it's legal to use them as bait for pike in Saskatchewan?
I believe it is not legal in Saskatchewan... Manitoba yes... Don't quote me though
@@ClaytonSchickOutdoors I know right? The regulations are unclear. I can use parts of the fish but not the whole fish???
webjay right... it means you can use parts of the fish. Like eyes etc. But... Cisco’s are not on the target game fish list. So you have to kind of refer more to the bait allowed in Saskatchewan.
@@ClaytonSchickOutdoors "Only baitfish that are dead and
have been commercially frozen or
preserved may be used" that doesn't make sense. They need to edit that. I should contact someone.
MU CSO!
Cheers!
Great 'How To' video. Most your vids have an educational aspect. Don't get me wrong I love watching you hammer the pigs but a balanced mix of different types of videos is really entertaining. I think if you just caught monsters in every video it might get monotonous. Although you do catch a lot of big fish and I love it!
Thanks dude :) I try to teach a little bit as well :)
Nice
Whoo hoo!! Great vid!
Cheers!
When trying to get your camera pointed to a suspended bait, what if you just used the sonar to get the depth right and then pivot till you find it. Both the bait and camera should show up on the sonar!
Yup, as long as the camera is in the cone angle with the bait that would work for sure! :)
Congrats on 20k subs!!!!!
Thank you very much :)
Hey Clayton, how do you prep your dead bait before you vacuum seal them? I caught some huge golden shiners and I'd like to try using them for muskie
I vacuum seal them a lot yes.
@@ClaytonSchickOutdoors Yeah, but do you toss em in salt or anything beforehand?
@@erichanss3300 No, I haven't but I am sure there are things you can play around with.
Hey Clayton. When tying flouro to braid how long is your leader?
Depends what I am fishing for, in this video I was using wire, not flouro
Hey clayton I have the first ion that they came out with and looking to upgrade. What auger did u like better ion or StrikeMaster?
Strike master 100% Sorry for the late reply...
Thanks I'll definitely be looking into one 🎣
Good video, very informative. Jason Matity got nothing on you lol
nah, both Matitys are very good and full of information :)
I would go ice fishing but its been -40 the last 5 days
Let’s get at her.
👊
Cheers Stormy!
This is the most similar way of tip up fishing to the Swedish “ismete” I’ve seen
Nice :)
Hey Clayton, what are your favorite ice rods?
I am loving the new Frostbite rods this year.
Clayton Schick Outdoors thank you! I’m gonna go out on Lake Superior in Ashland Wisconsin fairly soon. Wondering what a good laker rod is?
@@adamwaldon1917 Good laker rod from Frostbite would be the Mr.Big :)
Clayton Schick Outdoors awesome! Thank you!
We call em Slimey’s
Good name!
Dude ,hello did you drop off the face of the earth?
No dude.... I am trying to get the newest video out... Working hard :) This edit was a LOT more work than normal... Live chat tonight for the give-away :)
I couldn't take my eyes off the white thing darting around at 2:10 wtf was that?!?
megadeth675 I’m thinking freshwater shrimp
@@ClaytonSchickOutdoors that's awesome, can't wait for the next Clayton vid, cheers!
Scuds, freshwater shrimp.
I am 12 year old and going to go to a pike tournament February 15 wish me luck *tips for pike* ?
Good luck in your tournament! Try some smaller dead baits right under the ice... No one will fish right under the ice :) I am serious too like 1-2 feet below the ice :)
@@ClaytonSchickOutdoors ok thank you
@@ClaytonSchickOutdoors so i went used a red and white spoon with all different sizes of minnows and nothing ate it. And the biggest fish was caught out of 160+ was 2.7 pounds and all pike around us were super small pike none over 0.50 pounds and i kept switching holes and switching baits just nothing worked
Is this Brian Shaw??
NOPE! :)
What line are you using for that Ifish pro is this a mono?
I was using 30lb power pro super slick
Clayton Schick Outdoors And you’re not having any problems with the line freezing in one solid piece especially after you get it wet?
Roland Kovalenoks if it’s really cold it can be an issue. Sometimes once it freezes. I have not had any big issues yet.
Clayton Schick Outdoors thank you
Where abouts are you from I’m pretty sure I just Saw you at Subway in Melville sask. I didn’t want to be a total fan girl about so I didn’t say anything but I had crutches if you remember. I’ve been trying to fish in Melville as my girlfriend lives here and I can’t work because my leg was crushed by a zoom boom so I have lots of spare time. It would be cool if you did a video out at the damn or something nearby. Like so Clayton sees
Hey man, That was probably me :) You can always say Hi :) I have done some videos at Crooked Lake before, and I will probably do a video at the Dam this spring too :)
I asked for it....You delivered.....Your a good man Clayton Schick....Even if your Girlfriend says different
More to come :)
What size hooks were you using?
Drew Matusek I kind of covered this a bit at the end of the video. But I was using size 2 on that example.
Thanks for the reply! Love your show keep it up it helps me a lot!
What kind line do you use on your iFish pro rods?
I was using 20-30lb power pro super slick for this video.
Clayton Schick Outdoors how do you get dead bait to sink! Mine seem to float more so! I struggle getting down where I want it.
Jeremy Johnson make sure they are thawed out 100% and if they still float you need to cut open the air bladder.
Clayton Schick Outdoors I’m going to try heading out this weekend to LOTP for pike. What should a guy look for to pick a spot? Never fished for pike there.
You seriously should pair up with Jeremy wade for the next 39 hrs
That would be killer!! :)
Sickkkkkkkkkk
