Metasequoia glyptostroboides 'Ogon' Golden Dawn Redwood - Conifer Collector

My favorite deciduous tree. I have never heard it referred to as golden dawn, but Monrovia ( and no doubt others) produce it as ‘Gold Rush’. I would probably add that this tree can get big and needs space - even though it supposedly matures at about 2/3 the size of the species and a bit narrower. The species can be massive. Another shining quality is that the foliage does not tend to burn like some golden foliage plants can in warmer locations. I don’t think I have to worry here in the PNW, but just to be on the safe side, I positioned it where it gets 6-7 hours of direct sun and shade for the last hours of the day - which tends to be our warmest hours.
The foliage contrasts with the reddish bark quite nicely also. This is a strikingly beautiful tree
