    i absolutely love how human this is. you showed how hard it was, that you failed multiple times, that you had to change your plan, that even with the right plan it was hard. so often what stops me from trying to improve is knowing that just trying something for one night/day won’t fix the problem, and it sucks seeing a bunch of people on social media pretend it will. thank you for sharing the real process, and giving us all motivation

    Jen, don’t rush or push yourself too hard. That’s what I’m always telling myself, when it comes to dealing with my weight loss journey. I can’t fix a problem that I’ve been dealing with for 15+ years to be solved in a month.
    Major habit changes take up to three months! So, it’s totally okay to mess up a day and wake up late again, the key is to not let it bring you down and throw your progress away!

    Girl I have to tell you, I hear your song counting sheep everyday at my job. I have no idea what station/playlist we use at my store but counting sheep comes up everyday.
    Also this is what my sleep doctor told me.
    Your bed is only for sleep, so don’t go in bed until bed time.
    Go to bed and wake up at the same times everyday.
    Once you go to bed DO NOT LOOK AT ANY CLOCKS, every time we look at the clock our brains calculate how much sleep we are getting, this stresses you out and makes it harder to sleep.
    No sugar or caffeine after 8pm
    If you can feel your not gonna sleep and your gonna lay there staring at the ceiling go out of your room and read a book (or smth that isn’t a screen or food) until you feel tired again.
    For me personally I go to bed at 12 am and wake up at 8:30am everyday.
    This has helped a lot. It’s not perfect but it’s a lot better then what I was doing before

    You are literally my motivation but as a person. As a girl that is only 12 yrs old and has big dreams that aren't easy to accomplish it isn't easy to believe in myself most of the time. I'm going crazy at how much watching your videos has helped me to see that not everything will be perfect and work the first time. Almost all the videos I've watched of "how to glow up" have never helped me. They always say "to lose weight, work out", "to get clear skin, start a skincare routine", etc. Those are always the essential things people say, but the hardest part for me is the process and steps. I never know where to start, they don't usually explain how to achieve and form the habit itself, and only address it. I'm only 12 so I probably shouldn't be worrying about this stuff but it's still something I wanna know I achieved when I get older. I can't wait for episode 4 to come out! You are so talented and people are very thankful for you to make these videos to help others (and yourself), including me. And for you to go out of your way to make songs about your process is also very motivating. Idk why I'm saying all this because you are most likely not going to see this comment but I wanted to comment anyway

    • @whatsnew955
      @whatsnew955 День тому +1

      u r so right about the part that those influencers never talk about the actual progress and the steps to build those habits, which makes it less relatable. But i think maybe the reason is that usually theres no any shortcut to this shit, u just have to do it day by day and it will work eventually

    • @wimmysul
      @wimmysul 13 годин тому

      @@whatsnew955 This was def a hidden gem for me back then. The fact that still to this day no one explains the process motivates me to achieve my goals and eventually make my own content that explains the experience and process. But I have a long way to go before then

    The most important thing I got from your glow up project is to never give up, just keep adapting your plans to your new reality and let “failures” work as guides to tell what you need to improve! Thank you so much, you showed me that plans aren’t fixed things, they’re fluid and constantly changing based on what works and doesn’t :)

    so i'm watching this at 3 am um. i'm gonna try to follow what you're doing tommorow!
    Helpful tip: just take it day by day, you can't affect the goal but you can affect the process. if you keep saying "eh i'll start tommorow" (hypocrite haha) then you're never gonna get there. just take it day by day, don't stay up late today and that will already help tons.

    I’ve been trying to fix my sleep schedule for centuries now, going to bed at 5 am and then trying to create a new “healthy sleep routine” and starting to wake up at 5 am to compensate the old one… not realistic and was setting myself up for failure.

I'm so looking forward to your videos whilst trying to change my life too 😊

    I stumbled across this video on my recommendations and really enjoyed how real it was. I just wanted to say. There's no need to beat yourself up over "failing" your challenge. I took a different approach and allowed myself to stay up later intentionally and work on things from a list of things I needed and wanted to do and I go to sleep 9-10 hours before I need to be up for work. Self Improvement is also knowing what works and what doesn't for you and putting in effort and challenging yourself is a huge step on that journey. I look forward to your other videos following your journey.
    Also, don't be afraid to confront your emotions in your journaling. It will be difficult at first, but it helps to be able to acknowledge how you're feeling throughout the day and to be able to get things off of your chest. You'll feel lighter as you feel more attuned to your emotions.

I think it's because I can't overthink (like you were saying) but instead I have songs to focus on. I just put the playlist on shuffle and I'm usually sleeping by the third song. 😁

    I've never related so much to something as what she said at 21:40. I've always been successful procrastinating and cramming work. I've gotten a Master's doing that. It's never bitten me in the butt hard enough to change my ways. I just can't do little bits of work spread out. It's not how my energy and focus works. But I hate how ridiculously lazy I can be and how dependent I am on entertainment from technology (which I use to distract myself from my thoughts about anything and everything). I am also currently awake at 4:30 a.m. and caught this video at the perfect time. Great job Jen!

    I've never found a more relatable video on UA-cam than this one! I so badly need to fix my sleeping schedule, this year I totally messed it up and it disrupted my healthy lifestyle that I now started to see the consequences. You motivated me to finally take a step forward and so some action!

    Literally watching this instead of going to sleep even though I’m in the same situation, I want to get a better sleep schedule but insomnia hits hard every time I’m somehow getting closer to that :’)
    Edit: just finished watching the video and OMG the editing etc feels like a documentary and I looooove that!! It feels very motivating to watch the video, like I’m legit gonna try and wake up early tomorrow and work :) (at least I’ll try not to forget about that in the morning as it’s my main issue)
    Sorry if some sentences don’t make the most sense, English isn’t my first language 😊 sending strength from France for your next episode!!

      Your English is amazing! I never would have guessed it wasn't your first language!! And yes insomnia is the absolute worst. The overthinking, the sheer inability to sleep, the fact my brain decides to go into hyper mode right after I get into bed.

      @@gianna526 omgg reallyyy? Thank you so muchhh 🥹 you made a happy girl here, I always feel like I make so many mistakes so that relieves me a little!
      OMG I KNOW RIGHT?? It makes both night and day difficult because during the day you might feel guilty about wasting a part of your day if you sleep until noon (guilty here 🖐🏻) because everybody else is doing things while you do nothing but it’s just a different schedule in the end… and then you overthink about it in the night too.. the cycle never ends
      I’m still trying to find sleep every night for example :’) it’s even worse than before
      I truly hope that everybody can find sleep at last! 🥲

      Have you tried melatonin? That worked for me for a while but if my mind was being really active I got into a state where my body was tired but my mind was racing aka more insomnia. However I think it's still worth the try especially if good sleep hygiene doesn't work.
      I was recently prescribed an antidepressant (amitriptyline) for my chronic pain, but it has also worked as a sleeping medication as well. The best thing is that it tends to shut down my brain too compared to melatonin. I start feeling naturally tired and fall asleep easier.

    • @Kpopovore
      @Kpopovore 2 роки тому

      @@hanac5586 I've never tried it but i'm scared of taking medication and then solely rely on that, in the sense that I won't be able to fall asleep without it because it's a part of my night routine... I think my mind would be racing with thoughts as well sooo i guess it wouldn't be any good then!
      Also! My sleeping schedule is much better now (i'm very happy about that) thanks to coming back to uni, and i feel very sleepy at night now (but i can't sleep past 8am T-T)

    I really relate to this. I challenged myself early this year to get up at 8am every day. I worked up to it slowly and eventually established a routine that worked for a whole month. I was so excited I had finally fixed my sleep schedule. But then, one day in the middle of my “perfect routine” I had a breakdown. I was really over my routine and it felt like I was simply going through the motions and not even living my life. I realized I was living way too rigid and was not allowing myself any spontaneity. (I also got an ADHD diagnosis which explained a lot.) My brain really doesn’t do well in the morning so I stopped forcing it. I don’t use an alarm clock anymore, but try hard to have myself winding down and sleeping at the same time each day. If life gets in the way of that, I just let myself sleep in and try again tomorrow. Overall I feel my best when things are just a little bit chaotic and kinda disorganized, it’s like my brain has breathing room to just live and exist. Idk if this makes any sense, but it’s how I’ve been living lately and I’m doing so much better than before. This video was beautiful Jen. It’s my first and I will surely be watching the rest!

    Sooo relatable! Thanks for sharing your reality.
    Small changes I have made to fix my circadian rhythm when I habitually reach for my phone and scroll endlessly through social media: 1. Temporarily delete time-sucking apps like IG and TikTok at night to eliminate access to the scrolling habit. 2. Watch a nature scenic video with sound off (research studies show calming benefits in the nervous system when looking at nature, even through a screen). 3. Place phone on opposite side of the room so I have to get up to turn off the alarm and then force myself to go straight to the bathroom to put cold water on my face. 4. When consumed by anxious thoughts, focus my mind on describing my own body sensations (example: my head is sinking into my soft pillow, my nose feels the cool air from the fan, my hands/fingers are stretched flat under my pillow, etc.) until I fall asleep.
    I love sleep and I dread waking up, so that part is still a work in progress.

    Girl Little progress is also progress ✨ You did great ✨ I'm trying to fix my sleep schedule as well, few days ago I tried dopamine detox ( no Spotify no UA-cam no social media no fast food or sugar drinks) and it lasted only 3 days, I really thought I can do that for 7 days but sometimes you have to understand that life is not a race and it's okay to mess up sometimes, Even people who wakes up at 5AM have problems in life, We can't fix everything forcefully and we need to give our body time to adjust a new lifestyle, Thank you for sharing this video, Good luck to everyone who is trying to fix the sleep schedule, Take care ❤️

    I think that I should genuinely plan more if I genuinely want to fix my sleep schedule, instead of just saying ok go sleep at 11:30, I should actually consider waking up earlier and maybe doing stuff like taking a morning shower, journaling, planning my day and all, and at night I should also set some sort of night routine. Thank you so much! This video really helped a lot

    i love your glow up project videos. You are so real and honest and I love how relatable you are, I hate the UA-camrs who only broadcast their “perfect” routines and lifestyles. And I love that you also include the trial and errors and what you learn and change to your needs and that you walk us through the entire process. It’s so much more than just “sleep earlier”. It really is a whole lifestyle change and you showing the true hard work that goes into it is so encouraging and good for people to see. Also you’re doing great! Self-discipline is not easy to cultivate.

    I absolutely love this series! Not only is it inspiring, motivational and real, but the cinematography is outstanding and I love your humor that you throw in as well as the songs you write...I can't wait for the next episode!
    Also, a possible reason that you're still feeling tired when you wake up is because you're getting 8hrs of sleep, which means that you're waking up in the middle of a sleep cycle. Sleep cycles last for about 90mins and waking up in the middle of one can leave you feeling very tired and groggy, which it's why it's important to wake up in betwwen each cycle. This means that it's better to try and get 7.5hrs or 9hrs, instead of 8
