1:04:35 At this moment.... I got goosebumps. It was no longer the unity of 1183 Geth in one platform. It was one full-fledged personality who realizing the inevitable and accepted his fate.
This is it this is the best moment of the third game in my opinion and the reason why Legion is my favorite character in the trilogy they went through such an incredible arc from the end of the second game to this mission, and to this day whenever I think of Mass Effect Them and Mordin are two of the first characters that come to mind, I'm so glad you finally made to this mission Lucy, keelah se'lai to Legion may they rest in peace.
This is the best moment in the best series in all of gaming. I’m so glad you had enough paragon points because it’s even more of a heartbreaker if you don’t.
Yeah, the consequences for not selecting the fleet rally option, especially if you don’t have enough points for it, and choosing to just allow the code to hapoen are dark. _Really dark… Especially if Tali is there if she survived ME2._
Yay best outcome! That is by no means guaranteed, there are several non-obvious things you can do to make it harder or (in combination) impossible to get this outcome. RIP Legion though, you were a real one.
You have to romance Tali for her full face reveal. Can’t recommend that romance more, not for the face reveal but because it is the most moving story. Tali changes from a girl with a crush to a strong confident woman fighting for her future in 3 games
@@MrEyescreamI feel that makes her romance better because then the player along with Shepard has a shared history with her while every other romance is on the spot with little time to grow out-of-universe
"*I* am sorry" ... first time playing the game hearing Legion say that it really hit so hard. It's that whole thing about 'becoming' who you are supposed to be, even if you messed up along the ride. Redemption. Transcending. So well done in the storytelling here, especially with the self sacrifice (which is the theme of ME3). Legion also really was one of my favorite characters, almost as much as Mordin. Oh, speaking of which, and when you get to it, the Shore Leave does have one last funny contribution from him that involves Aria 🤣 Btw, if you ever want to replay for romance as a male Shep, then Tali is the best imho 💖 .. and as a bonus, you'll get to see her face.. kinda 😉
59:15 "I Either Have To Side With The Quarians Or Side With The Geth" There's also the option of brokering an alliance between the Quarians and the Geth
1:05:02 "Where Are They Going?" Essentially, what Legion's saying is that he's gotta sacrifice itself to allow the rest of the Geth to have full awareness
This mission is even more touching if your romancing Tali as a Male-Shepard. Post mission Tali will give you a picture of her in Shepard's cabin & the picture is alot better in the Legendary Edition than it was in the Original Trilogy.
They are easily the best missions, especially Tuchanka imo, because it has to take into account so many variables from the previous 2 games, and they did it beautifully.
Priority: Rannock is rough even when you've managed to gain favour with all parties as you did. It's brutal if you don't have the Paragon/Renegade for that last decision. Also I love the small touches, like Aunty Raan's message to Shepard after the mission where she names herself "vas Rannoch". Is a subtle thing that makes me smile
Legion ::chose:: to sacrifice itself. This is when Tali finally answered the most important question- Only someone truly alive can make that decision. To look beyond self-preservation…and give hope to a better future🤖💙
This was my favorite mission in the game, it determined my choice down the line. Huge step forward for the people of the galaxy as far as AI relations go. So excited to watch!
When I first played Mass Effect 3 I didn't have access to the first two games. I had already played and beaten them before but that meant I couldn't carry over a save. Let's just say without an imported save Rannoch plays out differently, because brokering peace is no longer an option.
Shepard pokes giant machine in the eye. Thinks: How do I finish it off... hmm I'll take it on foot! Javik: a stream of opinions and advice... Also Javik: Do not care what others think.
Legion also used "Tali" instead of "Creator Zora" and became far more emotionally aware, even if it even expressed the confusion subtly such as its response to Shep saying, "You were ashamed." And then the regret in its voice when Legion pointed out that evidence shows that the Geth are not better than this, and its emotional concern for Shepard when Shep left the Geth tank.
This mission was hard on all of us when this game first came out, legion was more then just a crew mate he was dear friend. Legions sacrifice hit us all hard.
1:12:18 "How Could They Do That?, How Could Show Tali Taking Off Her Mask And Not Showing Her Face?" Well, Lucy, if you'd been playing Sheppard as a male character abd romanced Tali in ME2, Tali would leave a framed photo of herself in your cabin
59:00 Honestly, if not for Tali, I'd be 100% on Team Geth. And failing the reputation check is beyond heartbreaking regardless of which side you side with.
The climax of this priority mission certainly has some heavy resonance with our current times. If only video game stories were allowed to share the same level of wider cultural influence of other mediums like literature and film. They have some important things to say about humanity and the human condition.
I would recommend bringing Javik along for the mission that the Asari Counciler gives you. His presence gives you alot of lore details on that mission compared to other squadmates.
I am so glad you had enough Paragon points to get this ending on Rannoch! Even though it is bittersweet because of Legion's self-sacrifice, it IS the best possible outcome, The other endings are... really rough... and the worst ending is truly awful; I know multiple people who just couldn't play the game anymore after they got that worst ending on Rannoch. And this best ending is actually pretty hard to get, since you have to get multiple things just right, not only in ME3, but in ME2, as well, and I think even going back to ME1, for Tali, in order to get this best scenario to play out. One thing that made me feel frustrated in this episode, though, is the refusal to share a drink with Dr. Chakwas; you missed some nice dialogue, and a touching ending. I've noticed that a good percentage of UA-cam players/reactors do this, and I don't understand why... Is it really so difficult for you guys to accept a sociable drink with a good co-worker and friend?.... Oh well, whatever; good playthrough and reaction overall, and I'll see you in the next one!
I think it's less "Accept a social drink with a Co-worker" and more "This isn't over yet." Remember, one of the reasons Chakwas wanted a drink was "We may not be around in a few months to have the drink properly."
This ending is so fragile. You need Tali and Legion to survive ME2, complete both of their Loyalty missions in 2, have Tali not be exiled and complete both of the Rannoch missions before doing the final one. Miss any of that and you have to pick a side. I love that; you are rewarded for caring about both sides with being able to save both. Amusing side note; if you romance Tali and she talks about the Geth uploading into Quarian suits she makes a gag bout "The only one that gets into my suit is you!"
The best part of this outcome (peace between Quarians and Geth), aside from no extermination of either side, is that it's essentially a giant middle finger to what the Reaper just said earlier. Organics and Synthetics CAN coexist; Shep just single-handedly proved the Reapers' main philosophy WRONG.
While I can believe that the Geth will gladly maintain the peace, there are more than a few Quarians who still think like Han’Gerrel and Daro’Xen. Unless these people and their way of thinking are removed from society, hostilities will be reinitiated by them at some point because they will never accept the Geth as equals.
They do this throughout the series to get an emotional response. Killing characters is the easy way to do this but they didn't seem to want to find other ways to achieve the same effect.
You could also argue when an author never lets a character die that they are too attached to them. Part of the emotional weight in mass effect is loss on a galactic. a way to connect a player to that emotionally is to see the sacrifice of characters we have come to care about. Its another thing if a death happens unceremoniously for shock value, without any relationship to the direction or theming of the characters and story.
5:15 as a student pilot and when talking to ATC, remember ANC.. Aviate (fly the plane first), Navigate (make sure your level, and on a safe course), communicate with ATC when you are able to do so without overworking yourself! Atc can wait lol
I checked the map and nothing new was there, even though I had things to turn in. It was only after I paid for new items at the spectre terminal that anything showed up 🤷♀️
Tali will give a photo if you are in a Relationship with her if not no you don't see her face at all, Legion dieing reminds me of star trek the good of the many outweighs the good of the one, without giving too much away just like mass effect 2 you should of had that drink with Chakwas may be your only time.
The worst scene in the entire trilogy (for me) happens in this mission with certain parameters. I mean always subjective but I am always glad on the behalf of the player when it is avoided, like here. :)
I wasn't ready for that 😭💔
some people say that ME3 is about union, but its clearly about sacrifices for greater good

If for some reason you lost Tali in ME2 you are short votes from the admirals there, her loyalty from ME2 might be important too.
