@adventuredenali What a wonderful way to start my Saturday. I have felt from Benzie Design, but appreciate you sharing your resource. I have a really old cast iron sewing machine with a pedal in a desk set up. I bought it from a local gentleman that refurburishes old sewing machines. That being said, I too find myself hand sewing. It's just so satisfying. I may just have to make me a felt nook for my regular tn. Thank you so much for sharing this & ps thank you for also sharing that great big tape!!! Complete game changer. I got 5" & 7" tape! Have a wonderful, cozy weekend! -Kelly
You’re so welcome! The sewing machine sounds amazing! There is something really satisfying, as you said, about hand sewing. I find it really relaxing. Sewing machines usually frustrate me, haha. Hope your weekend went well!
Love this! It’s Beautiful. Been interested in seeing your process of making one of these since I saw your A5 Chic Sparrow Maverick video. Thanks for sharing!
Would love to! It’s a pencil pouch I’ve had for years! I can’t even remember where I bought it, but it was sort of a luxury to be able to do so. I hadn’t ever bought a fancy pen pouch until that point, haha.
Hooray! A video! I'm Saturday Sewing (yet more) masks today, because my child has managed to lose half of her school masks over the last couple of weeks. Such a cute little notebook cover, how inspiring! I'm looking forward to your stickers :)
I think the stich your doing is call a Whip Stitch. It might be helpful to miter the corners to reduce bulk. Thank you for sharing the source for the wool/felt fabric.
Whip stich is similar, but it doesn't include the part where she puts her needle through the previous stitch loop. With whip stitch the stitches aren't connected together, like they are here. This stitch is called a blanket stitch because it was used to seal the edges of blankets, just like Alicia is doing here 😊
@@Elizkleincaz Yes, thank you, I got my stiches mixed up. Her DIY folders are absolutely gorgeous. I love watching her inspiring ideas! So happy I found her!
Enjoyed watching this, I have a sewing TN project planned for a while from canvas totes I don’t use and you gave me an idea on hand stitching it. And the felt pocket folder is great! Thanks
Oh man, I need some wool felt asap. I wonder if I could improvise and make one out of something I've already got somewhere in my studio. I collect So much stuff. lol
Nothing beats hand made “ by hand” However I admit to a modern machine ....but I also have a hand crank and that tends to be my go to especially for patch work keeps me grounded and relaxed less speed more control 🌍🇦🇺👍😷
I really enjoyed to see in detail how you make the folder. Will it also be a product of your store?; and have you ordered a vintage style shop sign ? "Fig & Bean Co. - Journaling accessories" (= Thanks for the video.
@@adventuredenali Of course you can! hahahaha, you don't need my permission, but anyway, i would be honored. "I, with my internet stranger power, allow you to name your online business after your pets - breaks imaginary champagne bottle" The first time you mentioned a store, I thought of that name. The dog and the ferret are kind of a "frame" for all the pen and journal stuff you do (=
@@NelsonFJ hahah brilliant! Thank you ;) When I was in high school I started a business called Dog and Fert, (Dog and Ferret) and I made dog collars and harnesses for ferrets!
@@adventuredenali How cool! I never sold collars, but I always made them for my dogs. My father used to work with leather, saddles and horse equipment in general ... so I learned a little by watching.
As someone else stated...would you make these and sell them in your shop??? I spent weeks searching for a nice felt folder insert for my A5 and pocket travelers notebook and no one sells them. I tried making one but the quality of the felt was not great and I wish I had a sewing machine because my hand stitching is not that great😂😂😂.
Blanket stitch💁🏼♀️👍🏼
Thanks!

I'd love to see more of that blue leather pouch where you keep your sewing supplies! It's really pretty.

Love watching you creating as they did many years ago.
Thank you!
New subbie here! Beautiful project! Thanks for sharing your process!
Hello and welcome! Thank you so much for stopping by. :)
Great tutorial! Oh that baked asparagus...lol!
Hahah yummmm!
I love handmaking stuff, too! I feel some sort of accomplishment everytime a finished product comes out of eyeballing stuff 😂
Absolutely! :D

Oh good for you and all the sewing of masks! She’s lucky to have a momma who makes them! Hope your Saturday Sewing went well. :)
Well done! You help inspire the creative soul! I have some tulle du jeuy fabric I need to find. I think it would make a beautiful pocket.
An attractive and practical addition. And you are very good at explaining.
thank you!

I am considering it!

Oh excellent! Have you tried that yet?
I can't wait for your shop to open!
Me too! It’s taking a long time, but it’s coming! Soooooon! Haha
I just ordered some felt to sew me a needle case so I can try this with the spare parts. 👍 Yay!
Wahoo! Have fun! :D
Really enjoyed this video :D Now I feel like trying it out too.
Great! Did you try or have plans still to?
This is amazing! Thank you
You’re welcome!
Looks like a buttonhole stitch. Awesome project
thank you ☺️
So beautiful! I love the colors and fabric you chose. I think you should sell these!
Thank you! I’m considering it, we shall see. :)
Omgah I’ve been waiting for this
Hahaha excellent :)
nice little pocket, to add to your journal.
Thanks Betty!
That's called a blanket stitch!
One of about three stitches I learned in school, and the one I have found most useful!
Oh man, I need some wool felt asap. I wonder if I could improvise and make one out of something I've already got somewhere in my studio. I collect So much stuff. lol
Ooh perhaps! Did you find anything? The thing that’s so great about the felt is you don’t have to finish any of the edges.
Nothing beats hand made “ by hand” However I admit to a modern machine ....but I also have a hand crank and that tends to be my go to especially for patch work keeps me grounded and relaxed less speed more control 🌍🇦🇺👍😷
Oh that’s fantastic! Yes, grounded and more relaxed is what I’d imagine from a hand crank machine.

A saddle stitch is done with 2 needles. Check out Popov Leather videos on here to see how to do it.
Oh I do know how to do that one too. Just couldn’t get the names straight. :)
@@adventuredenali why am I not surprised?🤣🤣
