In Daniel chapter 3, the three Hebrew boys told King Nebuchadnezzar that even if God didn't save them from the fire they wouldn't bow down to his Statue, in which he wanted to be worshipped as a God. That's idolatry right. So in the same way today, we commit our lives to God in the face of pressures to conform to idolatrous ways committed by the world. Specifically, the idolatry could be many things. Mixing the traditions and beliefs of other religions with our own faith in Christ, worshipping celebrities on Earth as gods, following false pastors preaching false doctrines just to stay in line with other "believers", compromising our faith for money, relationships, putting sports or entertainment before God, the list is extensive. The basic idea is that we live by God's word, it fills our hearts/minds and we walk in the power of the Holy Spirit even if it means going against society norms, church norms, family norms etc... We won't allow any idols to come in between us and the Lord. And if we do for any reason, we repent immediately, cast that idol out of our life and seek God's ways, which are found all in the Scriptures.
