This is my favourite restaurant In Portugal 🇵🇹
Could this really be the WORLDS BEST HIDDEN GEM RESTAURANT? The best restaurant in Lisbon. In my humble opinion this really is the WORLDS BEST HIDDEN GEM RESTAURANT.
London, UK to Lisbon, Portugal is only a two hour flight. Portugal was placed on the green list so Sonia and I hopped on to a flight to celebrate our 5 wedding anniversary along with her 30th Birthday.
When i think of Portugal think fresh seafood cooking over a charcoal fire served with a simple salad and lots of wine. I think of beautiful beaches and lots of peri peri chicken, and for the most part i wasn't disappointed.
Unfortunately we didn't see any Peri Peri chicken but we most certainly enjoyed our share of fresh seafood, sunshine and lots of wine. Being a huge fan of Spanish cuisine i was delighted to experience the Spanish influences. Especially at Meson Andaluz, the best restaurant in Lisbon and possibly the worlds best hidden gem restaurant.
In the city of Lisbon, while doing the normal touristy things we decided to take a stroll off track. Just slightly off the beaten track we stumbled across this very typically back street European chalk board menu. This menu screamed tasty to me. We just had to give it a try.
The place was reasonably busy with locals which is always a good sign. There was an old lady waitress who "in her own time" was seeing to all the tables. The food spoke for itself. This is by far the best restaurant in Lisbon.
Is this the the worlds best hidden gem restaurant. I have dinned in the 3 Michelin star restaurants all over the world and i'm not kidding when i say THE FOOD HERE WAS BETTER!
Could this back street restaurant really be the worlds best hidden gem restaurant? I cant imagine anyone beating this standard of food. The best part of the whole experience was how normal this standard of food was to everyone. There was no ego or pretentiousness whatsoever.
Maybe it was the fresh seasonal ingredients or maybe it was the talented chef or probably a combination of the two. But whatever it was this is in my opinion the worlds best hidden gem restaurant.
If you ever in or around Lisbon you MUST check this place out. Its called Meson Andaluz and it is the worlds best hidden gem restaurant.
