Glad you enjoyed it! I noted you asked about 'castle' vs 'house'. It was a difficult one and I umm-ed and ahh-ed over it for a while. It clear is more of a castle than a typical red-bricked Tudor house. In fact termed a 'palace-fortress'. Because it was a kind of hybrid between typical castle and a later Tudor home, it had features typical of both. I decided on 'house' with more of a connotation of 'home' as Tudors didn't really build castles - although they clearly lived in them, a legacy from their medieval relatives. You could argue this both ways though, I think.😉
Thankyou for highlighting two fantastic and often overlooked castles (Chepstow and raglan) from my part of the world south east wales. I attended a audience with Elizabeth I (Lesley smith) in the great hall and it was great seeing it brought back to life even though it’s in ruins
Dr. Sara of The Tudor Travel Guide, Would you be interested in doing either a podcast or an episode of fact versus fiction on historical fiction films and tv series such as The Tudors, Wolf Hall, The White Queen, the Spanish Princess, the other Boleyn girl, etc etc. I really fancied all of them and would be quite interested in what you thought of them as well. I ask you because I have seen your videos and love listening to them. I must say, you have the best and most informative shows out there today! You have the best guests as well. Any chance you could get Lucy Worsley as a guest speaker? 🙏🏻 You’re absolutely brilliant, cheers!! 🥰
Hi there! Thank you so much for all your lovely comments. I am very honoured.🥰 As much as I would love to take you up on your invitation, preparing to do something like this would take a lot of time to do well - and time is something I need to managed carefully as there is too much to do against time available. So, I'll have to take a rain check on that one. Thank you again for thinking of me though. x PS I have asked Lucy Worsley in the past but she has declined.
I love what you do and the information. But as Yank , what the hell happened to the castle 🏰. I would like to know the history of it . Is that where the name Porter comes from , the gste keeper? Thanks for a great video.
Hi! Then you need to watch last week’s video on ‘The Famous Prisoner of Raglan Castle’😁. That tells you something of the castle’s history. The English Civil War was the main cause of its ruin.
Thank you Sarah! I very much enjoy your in-depth descriptions of Tudor architecture 🙂👏

Very fascinating.
Is the motte and bailey illustration you used an impression of Clifford's Tower in York?
Yes it is! 😊
@@TheTudorTravelGuide Nice! I've lived in York on and off for a few years. Having moved here from Manchester I instantly fell in love with this city.
thank you, extremely interesting, though it is difficult to read all those ruins.
You're welcome!

They should of tried to rebuild this castle it's worth trying to keep our history and not let fall more into ruins
Well the English Civil War had a lot to do with its ruin, sadly.
