The biggest problem that i have when it comes to goaltending is that i tend to slouch when im attempting to get into position, meaning i drop my shoulders a little too much which results in me letting in a goal i should've saved, the other big issue ( and im still working on fixing it with experimenting) is keeping the stick down in the fivehole because as i go down to make the save, my body instinctively lifts the stick so its dangling over my right pad and the fivehole is wide open. Some experiments have worked but some haven't and my body seemingly wants to keep doing what its doing and being very reluctant to make a little change but over time its getting better. Just last weekend ( more specifically Sunday night) i tweaked a few things and i immediately noticed an improvement ( my team won 5-3 ) Still gonna continue working on improving. Also some good insight in the video which will give me a few ideas to help me improve my overall game. Keep up the good work.
I tend to actually keep my stick off the ice while standing because I'm 6'3 and I'd have to squat deeper than most to make sure the stick touched the ice. It works for me, but I understand why you want the stick on the ice
From pad tip to pad tip, how wide does the butterfly cover ? With NHL goalies getting bigger, and near post technic getting better, will the game become one of blocking more then active goaltending?
1:28 “watch how much of the net you can see when I’m standing 10 feet from the goalie and how much net you can see when I’m a foot or directly in front of him”. Jesus could that be any more obvious. Lol
