Glad to hear you all are both 99% happy with the epicly cool conversion which has been fascinating to watch! Love the projects and the joi di vie you to bring to the boating community, and would ask that you both continue to continue to share 'how to' stuff...it makes my inner nerd very happy! @Janice - more on wood prepping and varnishing please? Cheers you two!
So happy you enjoy the channel. We very much enjoy what we do. You definitely have to keep the fun in it. We are debating doing some more in-depth techie stuff at some point so stay tuned! I passed on the request for the varnishing to Janis.
Found your channel last week and have been binge watching ever since.Happy birthday to you. Will we see you doing the test runs on the new engines plus seeing you set up your new generation system Regards Nigel Birmingham UK
This was a really cool project and a serious amount of work! I rebuilt the engines in my little 1964 40ft Chris Craft coastal cruiser many years ago and that was hard enough. Remove engines, clean and paint the bilge, re-wire it all, update everything, rebuild and re-install the engines etc. Those were light too, small block Chevy's.
One more thing. Telephone exchanges had Lister 3 cyl 19.5kva, 3 & single phase combined generators. I scored one with 39hrs for $2k nzd. So just another thought for Tangaroa 😊
sorry I missed it. I just had different things to do. Hope you had some good questions and people got some questions answered. Love the content love the passion ❤❤❤
Would be interested in more content regarding the tuning of the Cummins and the custom ecu from Iceland and its initial settings and how you as a tuner arrived at them with the third party support. I realise your concern about the 6.7s having a parent bore engine block design but perhaps the 8.3l Isc/Qsc Cummins or similar might not run so well under prolonged periods at low engine speed or idle? Did you consider Qsc/Isc's in your research as a candidate for marinisation with non OEM common rail electronics and if so what where your conclusions?
We will try to do a more detailed video on the ecus when we have a moment. It may not be a very exciting video 😂. There will be some of that in the upcoming video. The 8.3 engines were an option however I did not research them much. I decided that prices to rebuild and ease of parts supply would be easier with the 6.7. From what I have found the 6.7 is happy running pretty much anywhere. The 8.3 engines would be a great candidate otherwise.
Fairly sure I have several free outputs. I don't recall the actual count though. I don't think we will do trolling valves. Most of the fishing we will do will be for faster fish. If I only put one engine in gear we can troll at about 3 knots. A tad fast for salmon but I don't think we will be doing that much.
how much hp was the old GM detroits?? i mean each. i heard that a more modern engine can put out as much or more then what a v12 detroit would;d have made.
Our versions of the 12v-71 were the least powerful at around 350HP and 1100ft/lbs although they have ratings up to 870HP. The new Cummins marine engines have ratings up to 550HP and 1250ft/lbs. Neither engine is rated for continuous use at that their peak HP. If we were looking for a continuous high HP engine we would not have used these engines.
We are picking them up from the yard this month. They are still for sale however if we can't sell them complete we will be parting them out. That would be sad but we have to get rid of them somehow.
Funny enough, it wasn't actually a joke. We love historical stuff. There is real tour in Boston where you can go onto a small classic ship and at the end of the tour they allow you to throw "tea" into the harbour. The bushels are on ropes and they just pull them back aboard afterward. It was memorable for sure.

Happy for you both! Re powers are a beast, but totally satisfying ,after the work is done. ❤
It does feel pretty good!
So, I'm so sorry I missed your live stream .. Great content & more lives for the future I hope.. 😊😊
Those time zones make things difficult!
I’ve been watching for a long time. You guys are quite amazing. In both your projects and how you document them for us! Thank you
Thanks Mark! Glad you are enjoying the content!
Well done both of you on the repower and thanks for taking the time to make the videos.
Thanks for watching!
happy Birthday Janis.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks!😊

So happy you are enjoying the channel! Sooo much left to do. Should be tons of upcoming content. Thanks for watching!
Hey guys sorry i missed it, thanks for sharing more of your adventures.
We are sorry you missed it as well Brian!

It was definitely an immense amount of work. Sounds like you did your rebuild right though!
A great project very interesting
Allan from Australia
We are glad you enjoy it!
You always make me smile girl!
Happy I could spread some joy!
The kite is an AWESOME idea!!!
Make it happen please🙏
Time will tell but it is pretty high on our wants list!

Good to know! Always looking for a good deal. Thanks!

Sorry we missed you! Lots of turn out for sure.
Be sure to hit up Mad Hatter's Ice Cream if you fuel up in Cap Sante. The Hot Dogs and Turkish Coffee are pretty good at the Port Office too! 🙂
By the Port Office. Hehe made a typo.
We are going to check that out. Thanks for the recommendation!
That fuel economy is crazy! As for the turbo whine - you might want to build an intake box around the inlet.
The economy was better than I calculated. I was expecting a 30% to 40% gain. Good idea on the airbox. I will have to put some thought into that.
Blain has tuned my engine and has done a great job only I person I trust working on my car
And will tune it again!

I believe the five nines are rebuildable in frame, but it's too late now😂❤
I don't think they are sleeved. They can be machined to accept repair sleeves but I am fairly certain they are a parent bore block.
What did you do with the 12v71s...I might be looking for some parts.
I think I answered another one of your comments but we do still have them and may be parting them out in the not-so-distant future.
Have you addressed the intake heater grid problem with your 6.7's?
I have indeed. The heaters have been removed and that hole has been welded up. That would not be a pleasant failure.
Question for Blaine, how many extra inputs and outputs do you have left on the ECU? Will you ever consider a trolling valve set up?
Fairly sure I have several free outputs. I don't recall the actual count though. I don't think we will do trolling valves. Most of the fishing we will do will be for faster fish. If I only put one engine in gear we can troll at about 3 knots. A tad fast for salmon but I don't think we will be doing that much.
Did you take the bolt and heating grid out of intake manifolds? The dreaded bolt ...!
I did indeed. The grid heater has been removed and that hole has been welded up! That failure would suuuuuuck.
Dang it! I missed the live show. 😢
We were waiting for you! 😁
This is John when are you going to show the power of the Cummings start up.
Hi John. The video launching tomorrow will have underway footage. Stay tuned!

@@OnboardTangaroa They are naturals or turbos. what price are you asking?
I believe we were asking $4000 without gearboxes. They are the naturals.
Happy birthday phone you soon
Thanks Uncle Chuck!
Hello guys
Hi Henk! Sorry we missed you!
No need for the tea bag joke! 🇬🇧
