    If you take the pipe off the throttle body then fit a long hoses the same size then get a bottle on the floor in the front bumper put the extra hose in it then start adding the new coolant when cold you will push the air around and out the top throttle body hoses into the bottle on the floor when you see coolant and no more bubbles then fit the hose back on the throttle body fit to the tank line then start the car and add coolant when needed. No need to run the heater it be ok if no more coolant drops then fit the cap leave running 20 mins and watch the temp

    Nice. Super helpful. I’m about to change a leaking radiator with a koyorad and some mishimoto hoses. Trying to decide if I’m going to wait until I order a gauge pod as well.

      Ryan Sampson well. I ordered the racing beats ashtray mounted gauges. And a cold air intake as well. Go big or go home. Looking forward to doing this install. Most parts arrive today but the gauges are in limbo

    Nice video on the coolant change! Easy to follow your steps. Also could you share where did you get the front bumper from? thanks!

      xmator xm Thank you! Both the front bumper and side skirts is an oem mazdaspeed kit from Japan that I got when they were still producing them 8 or so years ago. You can get a replica mazdaspeed kit but will have to mess with fitment unlike the oem one. Thanks for the comment!

      My one bit of advice on fitting side skirts is make sure you remove any visible surface rust and treat the surface with a rust inhibitor i recommend Bilthamber as they are brilliant and best ive come across and also use there cavity treatment on the sills and then fit the skirts as they are grott traps and cause the sills to rust faster than exposed sills

    Man, that's a really clean car with SUPER low miles. If you ever sell, let me know! I was able to find FL-22 at RockAuto online. They have the gallon size there. They have pretty cheap shipping if you get everything from the same warehouse. Thanks for the video. Great tips. I didn't hear where that drain plug was for the engine coolant drain. What size socket was that?

      metrocaptain Thanks brotha! At 5:14 in the video I point to the bolt for the engine block drain if you wanna check er out. Its a 14mm socket. Good to know about rockauto having fl22. Thanks for watching!

    Hi Ryan thanks for doing this video. I'm going to do this job tomorrow. Would you mind if I asked you a question ? My recently purchased RX8 is blowing a lot of white smoke on startup (no problems starting though) but this smoke dissapears when the car warms up. Today after going for a fast ride I noticed steam coming from the expansion tank area. I'm not sure if it was coming from the cap or somewhere else. Should I try just buying a new cap or do I probably have a coolant seal issue. The car is a 2004 and has done 48000 miles. I believe the car was stored for a few years before I bought it. Greetings from the UK and thanks for taking the time to create your videos.

      I would say try to buy a new cap like you mentioned just since these can fail and can cause pressure differences within the cooling system. Mine blows a little white smoke too if I haven’t drove it for a while and then eventually goes away too. If you aren’t losing coolant (or excessive oil) after replacing the cap I would say you are fine. If not, then do a compression test 😔. Hope you figure it out!

      Iv just had the same problem car been sat for few months went for a drive and had white smoke out the back exhaust I had a oil burp oil went into my air box and throttle body and my engine oil went all milky white. Cleaned it all up To see if your water seal has gone Take the cap off the coolant tank start the car and look at the tank to see if you get bubbles or can smell exhaust fumes

      Use a closed end 14mm wrench, it's a pain but you can unscrew the bolt a 1/4 turn at a time. It's not a very long bolt so it doesn't really take that long.

    Hey bud, would you flush your heater core before or after this? I'm only getting heat out of the passenger side of the car.

    • @RyanSampsonRPh
      @RyanSampsonRPh  Рік тому +1

      Hmm that’s strange, I honestly don’t know the specific fix for the Rx8’s heater core to flush it but for “normal cars” usually it’s all one system if you just turn the heater knob to the hot setting to open up the valve and let the coolant all drain out with the radiator. So flush should typically be done at the time of the coolant swap for both heater core and radiator 👍
