Zendaya defended a fan on twitter after the fan’s school sent her home for wearing an outfit inspired by Zendaya calling it ‘too provocative.’
Clearly the school needs to check themselves on what they consider provocative because the girl was literally covered from head to toe.
Anyone who has gone to a school with uniforms or strict dress code guidelines knows that dress code rules are misogynistic af. Take it from someone who wore a uniform her whole life, every inch of female bodies are considered distractions. A high school senior named Hannah Whitely had an experience lately that is a perfect example. She pieced together her own version of one of Zendaya’s looks and was sent home after being handed a dress code violation for being what they considered too provocative. She tweeted a side by side photo of Zendaya’s look next to what she wore saying QUOTE - “When you just wanna look like @Zendaya but you get a dress code violation for being too provocative #senioryearblues.” First of all, her outfit is fire she looks so cute and second of all it is literally the opposite of provocative. So what the heck did she get a dress code violations for? Showing her elbows and the tops of her feet?? The school needs to relax. Zendaya tweeted Hannah back saying - “Provocative....where??? You look amazing.” Twitter backed her up by mocking the ideals behind dress codes with one person saying QUOTE - “Omgg noo she's showing elbows.” Another said - “Oh nO tHe UNBEARABLE SHOULDERS so provocative!!!” While another called it like it is saying - “It's outrageous and all these dress codes are extremely sexist because guys get away with almost everything.”
Don’t get me wrong, schools have the right to establish whatever dress code they want, but it becomes problematic when the dress code becomes less about helping students focus on their education and more about preventing girls from distracting boys with their bodies. Sounds like girl’s are being punished for something that’s really not their problem. Literally after watching this, I saw an article about a girl what was banned from her prom because her dress "violated dress code" because it showed one of her ankles. Meanwhile other students with mini dresses, low-back dresses, and midriff bearing dresses were allowed to enter. If you're gonna have a strict policy about dress code, don't single out people and have a more valid excuse than "I used my own judgement."

Nana Johnson Boys in my school complain because they can't wear shorts above the knee during summer but we have skirts. First of all, you either have to get hair removal of some sort which is a pain in the ass, or wear thighs, which get _super_ itchy when you sweat. Also you need to constantly be careful when you sit or get out of the toilet so your underwear wouldn't show, you can't run and it keeps moving sideways, at least mine. duckface Actually since during puberty you are growing in all different places at different times, some people have longer arms. And not everyone can touch their toes. I had a friend who stretched everyday, played soccer, but just couldn't bend her back that far. You could literally try and push her, but it didn't work. Also, my dad has back problems so his back is all twisted and he can't touch his toes.

One time, one of my seniors wore a knee length dress to their graduation day and the teacher was like "your dress looks like you are going to the club" and told her to change her outfit. At my school, we have this super weird dress code. Like you can't have a bra strap showing and you can't wear leggings because they are too tight fitting apparently and tops can't be at all see through and you have to wear a separate short sleeve Tshirt ( not even a tank top it has to be short sleeve) and a bunch of other things that would honestly make it easier for them to put in a uniform.

Omg, my school is the complete opposite. Girls be wearing short shorts and crop tops without getting dress coded, but the guys wear a muscle shirt and get told they need to cover up with a jacket

A lot of people take offense to some school dress codes in the sense that it is insulting and quite bothersome to girls but (although I agree with that) I think it is also insulting boys, because these dress codes are basically saying: "boys are incapable of controlling themselves and are attracted to/want to have sex with everything that breathes".
I go to an ALL GIRLS SCHOOL and still get into trouble if we have shoulders or thighs showing. ugh.
So there was this girl in my class who just had a v neck and showed her collar bones and was sitting next to a guy and the teacher was like "go to the office your distracting him" and he standed up and and said and i qoute"EXCUSE ME, there is nothing wrong with what she is wearing she looks perfectly fine" the teacher just got quiet and went back to the lesson
I live in England and although we have uniforms there were still strict dress codes. Girls had to wear skirts that went to the knee, no one did this though and when it got to summer and girls wore skirts at a normal, respectable length nearly 30 girls got sent home that day. We all had to keep our black blazers on even in summer when there were heat waves, if you took them off in lessons because you felt sick from the heat we got detentions. We weren't allowed to wear jumpers with our blazers in winter at first but that got overruled because it was stupid, but they had to be plain black. We weren't allowed to carry out coats with us which was really impractical in winter when we had big coats and they didn't fit into our tiny official school bags. We all had to have "respectable" foot wear and boys would get sent home if they were wearing trainers. You only get to wear your own clothes when you finish high school when you're 16 and move into sixth form/college.
