    Something about these cars that isn't mentioned when compared to Honda and Toyota is the road noise inside the cabin. The ford is so quiet and much more pleasant to ride in

    • @Ghost-jy9hk
      @Ghost-jy9hk 6 років тому +5

      True. I had a 2013 Ford Taurus and I know someone with a 2013 fusion and they are so much quieter than my 2016 Honda Civic. The road noise is so bad on the freeway I can't even take calls sometimes

      @@Ghost-jy9hk I agree. My girl friend has a Honda. The Honda is more zippy than my hybrid, but the cabin noise and comfort is much better in the Fusion.

      Except is if start squeaking and rattling because of all the 'hard' plastic trim. To be fair though, I came from an Audi A6 wagon to the Ford.

      I was a GM guy my whole life. One thing about GM vehicles is your always trying to figure out where all the weird noises come from. They always have a clank, clunk, rattle, somewhere. I finally got sick of it and tried a Ford. I was blown away how much quieter and smooth running my Fusion was. Not only was it quiet...it didnt make weird noises all the time. It now has 200k miles on it and showing no sign of giving up. I am so glad I gave up the GM bias and tried driving a Ford. Best decision I ever made!!

    I appreciate the dedication to the fusions beauty. I myself have 2016 fusion SE with the appearance package. He hits all the right points. But one thing that bugs me is that he complains about going through 3 sets of tires but he's basically driving across the country and back to put 26,000 miles a year. I don't think that's the cars fault but his. I've had mine for almost 2 years and I'm barely breaking 10,000 miles. My commute to work isn't that far but still the American driver averages 12,000 a year for miles.

    • @Jon-ub2hr
      @Jon-ub2hr 4 місяці тому

      I know this is 6 years ago, but the tires on the fusion really just go out faster. The higher torque in the 2.0s along with the excellent handling system really just kill the tires. But that's a good and bad thing. Takes the stress off the car onto the tires, especially on turns. but it burns through tires about 30% faster than what tires are rated for.

    I just bought my 2019 Titanium in 2020 with 7k miles yesterday (3/12/20) after totalling my 2018 SE, for a STEAL! Listed at 39k. Got it for 21k. I never buy brand new. It is Magnetic Grey in color. Within 10 minutes driving off the lot I got 3 compliments. But what a difference between the two. A lot more bells and whistles with the Titanium. The leather is much nicer with heated steering wheel, seats as well as cooling is awesome. I love this car. It definitely rides better than the SE I had. Much quieter too as my SE had squeaks coming from I don't know where lol.

    My 2017 Platinum. AWD. Self Parking. Adaptive Cruise Control.
    Love it.
    Dislike. I don’t like the 19 inch rims. Neighbor has a new CRV top of the line, and her black rims are much shaper.
    Don’t like low profile tires. They allow the rims to get scratched. $1000 replacement cost per rim.
    Don’t like mpg, 2.0 turbo.
    Otherwise, after a year. Great car. Everything works great. Amazed how self parking gets me within 6 inches of the curb. First time you use it, very scary. Adaptive cruise control great for trips or any interstate driving.
    Semiautonomous. I took my hands off the wheel for my 3 exit interstate drive. Lane keeping kept me within my lane, even during gradual curves, adaptive cruise control kept me 3 lengths from the driver in front. Don’t plan on driving this way, but it is nice.

    • @TheTestDrive
      @TheTestDrive  6 років тому

      You’re right - the 19s are very prone to damage. The Platinum is very nice! I’ve never driven a Fusion with the semiautonomous driving features but that’s awesome to know!

    • @axelfiraxa

      What mpgs have you been getting urban and then highway? I am looking into buying a used 2016 Fusion 2.0 turbo and am trying to figure out the cost to run.

    • @paulstein9258
      @paulstein9258 6 років тому

      axelfiraxa My 2.0 Turbo Fusion Platinum. Live in the Midwest. Running on totally flat interstate, 27/28 mpg. Local small city driving in traffic, about 18. My wife often stays in the car with the air on when I go into a store. That has lowered me to 15 mpg.
      I use top tier regular gas purchased at Costco. I started out with premium and did not notice a difference when I dropped to regular.
      Though I love the trunk space and acceleration onto the interstate, I realize that since my daily driving is less than 20 miles per day, the hybrid would have been a good choice for me.
      My car has been trouble free with the exception of the dealer corrected window bounceback. A small number of 2017 owners have reported battery drain issues. The 2016 models don’t have that issue. However, the 2017 models have Sync 3 system, a big improvement over Ford My Touch. If you can live with My Touch, the 2016 should be a good choice. The Fusion is the best car I have ever driven. My last four cars were a new 2013 Acura, a new 2011 Honda Pilot, a new 2008/Honda Ridgeline, a 2004 Camry.
      I made the decision to give up Honda reliability for a much more enjoyable ride experience.

    • @JohnBarrow1961
      @JohnBarrow1961 6 років тому

      @@paulstein9258 You just said you haven't had any reliability issues with the Fusion, so how did "give up Honda reliability" by moving to Ford? Reliable is reliable. It either is or it isn't.

    • @paulstein9258
      @paulstein9258 6 років тому

      John B I should have said I gave up known reliability, for what I hoped would be a reliable car. CR rated reliability 4/5 when I bought the Fusion. The next year, they dropped the reliability rating to 1/5. Most of the reliability issues are related to the entertainment nav system. Mine is fine so far.

Ended up needing new(er) & settled on a '12 Fusion SEL that was a dream to own but was oxidizing in the FL sun so we sold & got a '15 Fusion Titanium in Tectonic Metallic finish. Such a great car that we got another '16 Fusion Titanium in White Platinum Tri-Coat Metallic finish. 100% concur with your descriptions about design, style & how it became a benchmark for other makes to copy like the Sonata & Chrysler 200. One more feature I love in the heat of summer is the double press/hold of the door lock button on the key fob to open all windows & moon roof at once ;-) One question: how does one exit this parked vehicle w/ engine running without hearing the two brief horn blasts? Thanks!

      I like the Fusion better by far! I test drove a Lincoln MKZ tons of options if you even use them all lol it's very nice but the Fusion is a little quieter in the cabin area! Plus the fusions 2.0 L EcoBoost 245 horses is hard to beat in the long-run it's a great engine!! I have an SE all wheel drive 2.0 so sporty! Price tag difference is not worth paying that much for the MKZ when you get a front runner in the fusion without paying all that moolah! Both are very good cars though 😊

    I don't want to get rid of my fusion. Eventually I'll have to. Mine is a hybrid. Dreading the battery replacement. We got the car used, previous owners beat it up. We got it fixed up. Still needs more paint touch ups but it works like a dream. Albeit a 2013 fusion hybrid so it doesn't have the live TPMS viewing, as well as the digital speedometer. But I've bought an OBD2 digital and still love my car.
    When my car goes into EV mode, I love it, can't even hear the engine. Smooth ride. Even (most of the time) when the gas engine turns on, I can't even feel or hear it.

    My 2011 Fusion has been the BEST vehicle I ever owned. I got sick of GM and their problems and decided to try a Ford. 200k miles later I dont regret it one bit!!! All the Ford jokes I used to tell were absolute LIES. The joke was on me. When I need another vehicle I wont even think twice about......FORD. They made a believer out of me
    I later traded my Silverado in for a F150 5.0. One thing ive learned about Fords is the steering is a lot tighter and more precise...like you said about your Fusion. It seems to apply across the board with Ford vehicles. Even my big 4x4 truck has that tight precise steering like my Fusion does.

    I like Fusions and would have bought one if it wasn't for the headroom in the back. I have a son who is well over 6 feet tall so I went with the Taurus. Pretty similar cars but the Taurus has more legroom and headroom in the back. I think the Fusions are slightly better looking but I love the Taurus.
    I think the decision by Ford to do away with sedans is a strange one. I can understand them thinning out the line but they sell a ton of Fusions and a lot of Focus' so I am surprised they are not keeping those around. I do not like cross overs at all, think they are all pretty ugly, so my next car may not be a Ford.

    We really love our '14 manual transmission Fusion as well. It's a great car! The crazy thing is, they still sell quite well too. Jim Hackett is a moron to walk away from all of us happy Fusion owners. We don't do crossovers, so I guess we'll just keep this Fusion. Fine with me!

      It is a big mistake to stop producing it now after its momentum. I hope the rumors is right. I wanna wait another 5 to 10 years to see if the fusion gonna Last as the Camry and accord or not then decide.

      I have a 2015 Fusion Titanium AWD for a year now. Its a great car but the transmission could be alot better. Rough shifting from 2nd to 3rd happens when transmission is cold or hot. Down shifting can be bothersome too.

    • @TheTestDrive
      @TheTestDrive  6 років тому +1

      Only when the transmission is cold on startup - it shifts a little rough. Otherwise nothing really to complain about. And the paddles are slow but pretty much every car in this class is like that.

      Yeah I have a 2016 2.0 SE and mine shifts funny but only when cold. Although I've been going on long road trips lately and after getting off the highway the transmission jerks sometimes when taking off from lights but then stops if I'm just city driving. I don't know if that's just mine?
