  • Hello and welcome to Part 2 of my build guide for the Tamiya Wild One Off Roader! In this video I go through the steps using parts from Parts bag B - steps 13 to 24. We mainly concentrate on building the gearbox, the fitting of and building the rear shocks and motor.
    I have a little trouble with the rubber boots or gaitors that cover the drive shafts, but manage to find a solution.
    I hope you enjoy it and join me in part 3 where we finish the Wild One.
    Many thanks for the backing music provided by my awesome friend, Jack - cheers my bro! :)

    Package arrived this morning! Just waiting the Tamiya RC Tool kit and bearing set to arrive now. Then I’ll build it up! Getting excited Mark, you’ve inspired me on this build👍🤓🇦🇺

      Great news on the arrival, Paul! Always exciting to get a new kit. Those Tamiya tool kits are excellent, good choice. And of course the bearings are a no-brainer! I'm sure you are gonna love building this one, have fun, mate! :)

      Hi Sven! Yes, it really is a great kit to build. It's a very basic design, but seems to be very well thought-out. No, I have never seen an oil cap on a Tamiya gear case before - but I'm sure if you poured oil in there it would soon leak out again! :)

      Most of the older models had something like that. Grasshopper gearbox (hornet/lunchbox/pumkin), I think the frog/Blackfoot used to also.

    👍👍Looking awesome Mark!! Nice you used antiwear grease in the diff I did not do that when I made my FAV a long time ago I wish I did. Also for the rubber boot I just used some fishing line and tied it around with a knot and it worked great also.

    • @MarkBryanRC

      Thanks, Steve - good idea about the fishing line, now why didn't I think of that - I have loads of it in the loft! All the best and keep safe my friend! :)

    Starting to look like a Wild One 😊 Hmm, wonder what people used to do with those oil cap/holes in the gear boxes back then. The Hoppers got them too. Did any actually pour oil in there? ... And I think in reality you really like the ‘dissapointments’ cause it gives you a chance to be creative. I can feel your enthusiasm when speaking about solutions ☺️ And you always seem to find one. Great job, Mark! Best of weekends to you

      Hi Mikael - yes, it is nearing completion now, but I'm really taking my time on this one, with a few weeks of lockdown to go (at least). I think if you ever put oil in the "oil hole" it would be all over the floor in seconds! Maybe Tamiya wanted to put "grease" on the red cap - but ran out of space! It would certainly be easy to apply a little more grease on the gears through that hole, now and then, perhaps that is what it's really for? The manual doesn't mention it.
      Hehe - yes I do like something that needs solving (I'm a big crossword fan!) Thanks for the nice comment, all the best to you and yours, too. :)

      @@MarkBryanRC Yeah, it's a nice little scale detail for sure. Uhh, not sure if it is okay I ask, but is Rob doing good and is he okay? @@NordicRC Hi mate - of course it's OK to ask, we are all friends after all. But thanks for your good manners. Well, I have not heard from Rob in a few weeks, he was fit and well then. It seems that during this lockdown he has been staying up in Stoke - about 50 miles from where we live - with his sister who lives alone. So he has no access to his PC and limited phone and internet access. I'm sure he would find a way of contacting me if he needed anything. We are the best of friends and always there in times of need, that hasn't changed for 30 years! Thanks for the concern, I'll let Rob know you asked how he was when I next speak to him. Mark Bryan RC yeah have been sharing some stuff on some of the Facebook forums, but always happy to learn something new myself. I used to be an automotive spray painter did my ticket as a kid, so I have some experience there. Then a Nurse and then a Teacher. So I have a wide scope to draw from. But I really like to research thoroughly before I do things. I think my mental health condition amplified my need to find out the best thing or best way to do stuff. I think I’m probably borderline OCD since my injury. Certainly could be classed as OCD with my obsession collecting RC cars. 👍🤓🇦🇺

    • @MarkBryanRC
      @MarkBryanRC  4 роки тому +1

      Wow mate, you have turned your hands to many things! How strange, I started as a telecoms engineer, moved into computer system management, then graphic design and finally I'm a support teacher! Injury? Hmmm - me too, (spinal fractures) changed my life and massive PTSD issues after. Not sure I'm OCD, just a bit strange!!! We have a lot in common, Paul! :)

    • @paulgarwood192
      @paulgarwood192 4 роки тому +1

      Mark Bryan RC yeah, I think hobbies draw like minded people. The painting paid for me to go to University and get a Bachelor of Nursing, injured my knee, then my back (repeatedly) so I went into an office data management, I hated it, so I used my holidays, long service time owed took the year off went to Uni again and got a Diploma in Education. Then I went through some really bad bullying etc. and tried to change the 20 + years of management behaviour in the school but I was broken down and individually systematically crushed. All the systems supposedly preventing and supporting people in this predicament failed me dismally and I went into PTSD mode. The crazy thing is I’m able to handle myself pretty well, I can physically hold my own, but they were more than a match for a lone individual, they had done it so many times before. All I could do was wear what they threw, they had all the power, and you go to jail if you just smash the boss! 6 years later and I have finally settled legally, but it was a very rough 6 years. I’m on the mend especially after I was successful legally. It kind of vindicated me. But I have great support at home and am looking forward now!

    • @MarkBryanRC
      @MarkBryanRC  4 роки тому +1

      I think you are right about hobbies and like minded people. The coincidences continue - I was sad to read about your problems at school. Touched a nerve, as I had a similar experience, although not quite to the extent of yours. I was destroyed in a similar way and struggled to recover for a very long time, but thankfully, like you I have fantastic support at home. Glad you got it sorted, you are a very strong person to have succeeded legally, I can imagine it was terribly difficult. The positive vibe at the end of the message is very reassuring. Onward and upward! All the very best to you my friend.

    Afternoon mate 😁 Another great build vid. It's odd about those drive boots because I just checked on my FAV and they are pretty snug. It's so old that it's got the drive shafts and cups with hex shaped drives rather than dogbones so maybe they are a little bigger. Looks like your fix will solve it. Can't think of anything better because I was thinking cable ties until you showed it catching. Anyway it looks like it's keeping you amused through the lockdown. Tell you what that Impreza shell is keeping me busy. So many stickers. I'm sure it's the most stickers I've put onto one car. Nothing too tricky like the Lancia you did. Anyway it's nearly done and I'm going to do a little blog video about what I've been up to. Haven't done anything useful like take photos along the way so it will just be a bit of waffling. Need to get the gold wheels to complete the look. Anyway apart from that the guy from the brewery has just dropped off my 5l container so happy days. Tesco was mental yesterday with a big socially distanced queue outside so I drove straight out again. Got enough odds and sods to keep us going for a bit. I'm going to go on my allowable exercise bike ride in a minute so I will have earned a beer or two. Hope all is well with you and your family. Take it easy mate 😃

      Evening, Sir! Thanks for the comment mate - yeah, IDK what's going on with those boots! Such a sloppy fit, my Monster Beetle was fine in 1986!!! The Impreza is a great body, and the stickers were easy compared to some I have done recently! Look forward to that blog video, I need some entertainment that's RC related as sick of the crap on tele! Ooh, at least you are still getting the essential supplies, sounds lovely, I am having to make do with Aldi beer! Not complaining though. Goodness knows I need a drink at the end of the day, it's all a bit crazy, ain't it? Yeah, you deserve a beer after exercise, it's the law in my house! Keep safe and have a good evening mate. :)

      @@MarkBryanRC hello mate. How goes it today? Did you check out the Colin Furze channel on UA-cam? That will entertain you for a bit if you are bored of the TV and have run out of RC projects. I've just been fiddling about with the rc's today and haven't achieved a great deal. Subaru is looking good. Just need to sort out the lights. I thought with all this spare time I might get back into gaming so I've ordered an Xbox which will arrive tomorrow. Got a game that involves smashing cars about which can take the place of smashing my RC cars around. Other than that nothing doing. Going to do the allowable exercise in a bit so I've earned a beer. There is a bit of a pattern to my days isn't there? Hope you are enjoying the Aldi beers 😁

      NYC, Philadelphia and Boston are our only three Cities like London, and your major Metropolis Cities....
      OLD, and DENSELY Populated. The Virus literally spread like Wildfire in NYC...
      Boston, Philadelphia, even Chicago and Detroit, shut down early enough.
      Los Angeles, like us in Arizona, are MOSTLY spared... For reasons were just starting to understand.
      Non Dense Population, Newer Buildings, DRY Air and high Temperatures!! Apparently the Virus hates all those things.
      We're NOT in the Clear! But we've got a much better chance. "Only" 120 cases here in Tucson (population 1.2 Million) and 1700 cases in Los Angeles (population 19.2 Million).
      ..... In case the News hasn't spread some of the not so grim news.
      Prices HAVE dropped a bit!!! 😁😁😁 It's more of a MAYBE now...
      And, the Boss wants a new Phone - so now my budget went UP to $700!!!! 👌😎😁😁😁😁😁😁
