For every minute spent organizing, an hour is earned. Love ya man!

I feel like a vindicated parent now. It was so satisfying watching you clean up that shop! But your thoughts are spot on...keep thinking that way and keep grinding.

You are spot on. Time is money and once you lose some time you can’t get it back.
Your shop isn’t climate controlled. Is that causing any impact on resin storage for you?
I like the shelving idea enough that I’m stealing that one. LOL

It poses its challenges. The goal is to insulate and climate control eventually!

Hey 👋 man. I try to always clean up after a job. My biggest struggle is in the middle and the mess. Plus some organizing things too.
Anyways , just got off the Phone with Keith in Florida. He said your a good dude. I’ve always liked your work and teachings.

Set up a French cleat tool wall and when you get done using your tools you can hang them back up

My biggest issue trying to get started is room to work. I have an 8x12 shed with all my tools and equipment in it, so I have to take everything out just to work on a project. Its time consuming, energy consuming, and many times just aggravating. I appreciate all your videos.

My down fall is almost the same as yours. My shop is 32x32 but disorganized. Clean up is ok but like you spending time finding stuff is tough! Try to do better. Bought some plastic bins and labeled it and that has helped. Have a spread sheet with things I generally need with amounts on hand.

How do you decide which project is worth your time? I think that's my roadblock right now.

    • @GoodViewWoodworks
      @GoodViewWoodworks  2 роки тому

Great question! It all depends on your personal situation. I would say you need to price things in such a way that it’s all “worthwhile “. But I think I’ll do a video on this exact thing!!!

I'm 48 and I'm still working on my organizational skills. I don't like to clean up until I'm finished with a particular project. The problem is, that project may take 3+ months so the shop and house get more and more messy until I finish the project and I give myself about a weeks of rest. I then will start on organizing again.

I ran across a short video of epoxy river tables about three months ago and fell in love... Ever since I have been watching a lot of videos to learn how and tips from people like you. I'm a single mom with three young kids so I don't have much time during the day to get what I need to get done Iv bought about $2000 in materials or more. I have ADHD organization is not my strength either. I have a lot of work to put into get my shop ready when all I want to do is start sanding and making. So I'm struggling on one step at a time not getting ahead of myself and taking one step at a time. Iv learned a lot from your videos and want say thank you for being a inspiration

You are correct . An Organized shop saves a lot of time. And most of all a lot less frustration on getting jobs done , ain’t nothing like getting frustrated because u can’t find something and then you can’t have a clear mind to constraint on your projects . Organization and clear minds makes life a lot more happier. Take care

Nathan we are so much alike its not funny! Our shops are the same size, same set up, different lighting, but the same problems. i spend more time hunting for a tape measure or pencil than I do working. I have made up my mind that I am going to get the shelving/storage that I need to do things right! Congrats on the new addition to the family!

I have been working on my shop for the last couple of years I say once a week take an inventory of what you need and create an excell spreadsheet on what you have currently and that’s an easy way to keep track I would put in costs and item numbers and if you order something put that in there to have one area that you can look at every morning to see what’s coming

"Out of sight. Out of mind." is a big problem for me to remember what I have stocked. Those *clear* Hefty containers with the snap lids are perfect for categorizing similar tools and stacking on a shelf somewhere I can quickly see and grab later.

That’s a great question. Im biggest problem is trying to manage my time. The goal is to get back to what I was doing but life has changed for us in a major way(three kids under 3 years old and left my full time job.) so I’m trying to figure out the best way to manage everything. Hope that makes sense.
