Great video. You asked what we would like to see in another video. I would like you to cover how you recover between sessions on a day like you documented in this video. From your many years of training, what you have found works best for your recovery. Thanks to you and your team, that helps make these videos.
Thank you for sharing this with us. Not only do you exemplify hard work, but you exude kindness and compassion. No doubt you are setting an incredible example for your kids. I am always rooting for you! I know this is a channel about you, but you and Pat are such a great team. I'd love to learn more about what goes on behind the scenes in the "business" part of triathlon and how you and Pat work together to find sponsors that not only improve your performance, but that also align with your personal values. You seem select brands with integrity, so I'm always interested when something gets your endorsement. Happy training!
I would love to see more on the nutrition side of things - e.g. what you eat when you train for a race and on a normal day. Also would like to see more about how you balance family life and the life of an athlete.
Nicely done! Enjoyed this one and hearing about your workouts. For another video: do you always run on gravel/soft surfaces for training? If so, is there a point when you switch to harder surfaces to mimic the race courses? Also, your run form looks fantastic in this video in comparison to others where you said you were working on particular things (shoulders, hip lean, etc). Do you notice a difference? And are you still working with Bobby (I think that's the coach)?
Yep - Bobby is great. Soft surface ..... i actually prefer harder surface as it's easier for tendons, but this is just too beautiful not to run here :)
Hey Gwen! I loved watching this! I’m currently in the process of transitioning from running to duathlon, and was wondering if you had any recommendations for a bike that isn’t too expensive but also decent enough! And also any must-have kit items for cycling!❤
must haves: A nice pair of bib shorts with a shammy. You won't regret spending the money on this. For a bike, most major bike brands have a non carbon bike that is very good. It is sitll not cheap...could also look for second hand bikes. There is a good market out there :) You need a helmet and some sunglasses as well!
It is great to see how you train. I am very excited to see whether you make it to Paris. I am confident you could do very well at Paris but I also have great respect for the other exceptional women you are competing against for selection. Take care and good luck.
Been following you from the very beginning! Hopefully you win the PTO in 2024, still believe you the GOAT !!! Gwen, do a video on how to eat for the day as a triathlete? How much carbs, protein, macros etc ???
@@GwenJorgensen ok cool, down here in Africa we tend to eat alot of meat, but I see you eating a lot of carbs most of the time. You also mentioned a specific type of pasta you eat. ?
Im training for my first triathlon. Olympic distance on june 1st. For open water, should i wear the goggles strap inside or outside the swim cap?? Thanks
This is personal preference. Those who wear it under will swear by it. I wear over. I say you should do what you do usually when you swim (open water vs pool shouldn't make a huge difference in what you do). Practice a few dives in a pool with how you want to wear them to test them out
Great video. I didn’t notice your watch during the swim. Do you wear it under your cap? Also, how much time between eating the big bowl of pasta and your run afterwards?
no watch during the swim. For food - i ate pasta pre ride (30 min before). For the run it was about 2 hours. I went to the pool with my kiddos between bike and run
if you struggle to get power on the downhills I can only imagine two things, lack of gears or lack of low cadance/ torque strength. Low cadance helped me be more flexible with putting power but I don't want to be smarter than olimpic champion.
Hey Gwen, I wonder how you still find the time to reply in almost all of the comments here..? 😅. I've been working on my running form lately. What's your opinion on the pose method? As far as I can tell you land under hips and pull, but I guess this is second nature to you.
It's me again... 😇 What booties/shoe covers are you wearing to keep the toes warm in winter riding? I tried to freeze frame but it was too blurry to tell. Nice gloves...are those the ones you mentioned previously? Love these vids and totally rooting for Gwen-Paris-2024!! Thanks for the responses, Megan 🙏💪
@@GwenJorgensen I was afraid you'd say that...cycling is SO expensive, gee whiz! I priced the winter cycling boots...any discount codes/recommendations always greatly appreciated for your kit, etc. I tried Skratch because of your vid years ago and it's my FAV. 🙌
@@GwenJorgensengreat reply. Can you elaborate more on this?? As in, you realise there's more to life than athletics (even though you're at such a high level)
What's your running cadence? Do you have any advice on how to increase your cadence? I've seen a lot of athletes advertise that you should try to aim for a cadence above 180 spm but I can't seem to get my cadence above 170 .
Do you have anyone to help look after ur kids when ur training a lot and pat is out with you? Can you do a general week in the life? 😊 Also, what is ur fav day of the week and least fav?
a full day of eating! we did that one other time. it's work, but can do it :) Just will have to not include all the spoons of PB i have as that's too cumbersome to record haha
hello, Bucatini is a type of pasta, like spaghetti or tagliatelle, they are all pasta, there is no translation name. Cappuccino is cappuccino, there is no translation, like Hamburger it is just hamburger in Italy too 🙂@@GwenJorgensen

great idea - Pat is not my agent...but we do work together a lot on these things and would be a great video
Fun! What you eat in a day, especially with high volume training, would be fun to see too.
Perfect, I love this video. Great coverage of the swim session. It’s often missed/meglected by other triathlete UA-camrs 👌
most people don't love watching the pool swimming :)
My favourite part of the tri now and I'm not a "swimmer". PS always shocked at how fast you all swim!@@GwenJorgensen
Loved this video, it feels like its coming together now. Really exciting to watch.
Girl looks so much more comfortable on the bike than years ago! Can’t wait to see you race this year. Gwen for gold.
Really enjoyed the day in the life format

Please about your diet plan ❤❤❤❤❤ what you eat every day? Have you saplements?

Always an inspiration Gwen.
Looks like the shoulders and chest are opening up. new energy.
Hope you make the Oly team! After the games, do you think you'll do any PTO races or 70.3s?
I've been asked to...
new to cycling and new to boulder...no wonder i always feel like shit heading west on niwot
