This was a very good guide. I'm looking to pick Samus up as a secondary and this gave me all the basics without being a 30 minute slog fest. Plus now I understand the principles of the character and can start finding my own way from there
I've been jumping between like 4 old videos of Samus how-tos for months. and this is 100% so much better. It even has the button guides !!! Samus/DS have always been my favorite, but I haven't improved much within the 4 years I've been playing. I know this is gonna take my plays to a whole new level. Thank you!!!
Samus snake is mostly even in my opinion. They both have good ways of dealing with each other. Samus has good range to stay outside of his big hit boxes but grenades have a hurt box and will eat up charge shot. The best way I get around it is to lock snake in shield with charge shots that way it becomes more and more of a risk to pull a grenade and hold it
Seamus main here, great vid and was really neat. One small thing is that not fully charged charge shots are actually better for combos, due to not hitting far away. You’ll see most pro players only almost fully charge their shot, and keep it at that in order to get combos that are easier than hitting a full charge shot
Thank you for putting up this awesome guide Samus has always been my favorite character in Nintendo in general but I've also enjoyed my time playing with her in the smash games in general
Oh wow this was great. I’ve just recently picked up Samus in honor of Dread and fell in love. I feel like with this I can finally start taking my gameplay to the next level!
I’ve jab reset opponents missed techs with small charge shot. I didn’t know the punished vulnerable frames of a jab reset were so brutal that an up tilt true combos it!
My first time playing I picked a lot of characters but landed on samus and somehow I ended up annoying my friend so much that they almost punched me can’t wait to see how I do with these tips thanks
Characters with reflect I try to use smaller charge shots, it moves slower and isn't as much of a punish if it gets reflected. Mii gunner can be very annoying and that is more of a spacing kind of match up. Banjo/snake there are two thought process with these match ups. 1) get just out of zair range so they can't really burst you but trying to pull out nades will result in a punish. 2) if you spam them with charge shots on their shield they will be able to pull less grenades cause their shield is smaller everytime and starts to become a risk. Hope this helps :)
I don‘t understand how you get the D throw, U-Air x2, up-B combo. The gab created when throwing the enemy makes it impossible for me to hit the U-air or to close the gap and then hit them with an U-air. This game is probably the hardest game I have ever picked up
You can use the buffer system to close the gap. So as the down through is about to end in animation, if you double tap forward -> -> you’ll buffer the dash so that means Samus will be a lot closer to the opponent
It’s the same way if you were to input a smash attack, both side B and direction at the same time, homing comes out if you are holding the direction then press B
I can't even get the down throw, up air, up air screw attack to combo at 1/4 speed in training. The combo counter always resets between up airs even though I am spamming jump to get close again and then mashing up air. And then the I mash screw attack after the 2nd up air and some how I've fallen far enough away where all the 2 first screw attack hits miss. Then I can't hit the up air after down throw in actually game speed no matter how hard I try. So I guess it's time to quit playing this game since I can't even execute a 'simple' combo :\.
Don’t stress, try pressing jump and up and A at the same time for the combo, it will help a little bit with the timing I’d you input the jump and A at the same time
@@Wildcard-166 I use the C stick to do air attacks idk if that makes a difference. I'll give it some practice holding up+a. Thanks for the encouragement :)
@@caloreen1992 Generally I think it's best to use C stick for air attacks but if you are struggling to hit that timing then the up+a should help you hit it :)
To bad people who met me as dark samus or samus or ridley or zero suit samus will keep fighting me just because it's fun and a metroid battle but nah people just leave

you can start combos with the semi charged charge shot
I'm a greninja main but I'm considering picking up samus as a secondary for gren's bad matchups (mostly snake)

Great vid, just one thing, it's also possible to recover from ledge drop charge shot with bomb->up B, if you're out of tethers
@fen gaming man how do you do that on minute 3:30? I can't change samus direction once I jump, please help
So you have to tap B and the direction you want very quickly, first B then the direction, it takes a little practice but I'm sure you will get it
