Lonely people get angry. I know, because I was lonely once. However, instead of turning my anger outside of me, I turned it within. I hated myself, I hated how I looked, I hated who I was. For a whole year I'd cry myself to sleep at night. Then I stopped. I stopped hating myself, I stopped being mad, and I gave up. I decide if I couldn't get someone to love me, the very least I could do was value myself. Once I decided that, I found my current girlfriend, whom I love and who loves me. Learn to value yourself, lonely people, don't look for validation in others, it's not worth it. This advice goes for lonely dudes and lonely chicks too. Everyone love yourself, and have a good day

I've said this before but I have a theory about the creation of an incel. Growing up both men and women are told about true love through media and role models. As a young man grows up relationships become a kind of status symbol and sex is a marker of success among many men. This is combined with anecdotal experiences of the pre-incel seeing good women stay with abusive or toxic men while being disregarded by the same women. This creates a disconnect between what they have been told, (Be a kind person and you will find love), and the reality they experience. Sex also becomes shorthand for a successful relationship which is why many women perceive the incels to be so focused on it. Eventually the only way to reconcile the difference in what they were told and what they experienced is to rationaize with reasons why they are not good for the women they like. This leads to thinking that women only care about looks of men because that's what their experience reinforces, which spirals into a belief in genetic differences and eventually hatred for a world that they felt lied to them. I personally think incels are the direct result of a world that claims there is true love but in reality many are left behind without it.

most incels also don't have realistic standards and they aren't actually nice guys. they're nice to women just to get sex and its very see through so women dont want them. the truth of the matter is incels care about the opinions of other men more than they even care about women so they seek sex and not relationships. sex is a social status booster amongst men and thats what they care about but they fail to realize that if you only want sex from women then you have to be hot. if youre not hot, you can still get a woman but you have to have something else interesting about you. they're also not willing to apply themselves to actually achieve anything because they lack confidence. so they have nothing desirable about them. plenty of ugly men find success and have women throw themselves at them all the time. you have to actually put effort into getting a woman. don't just say hello, open a few doors, and be polite in general and think that women are going to see you as special.

Years ago I went on a deep dive of these communities and after reading, documenting and collating many of the things I read I concluded that these were the bullied kids who fell into extreme depression. Depression fucks your brain, really bad, there are studies on how depression can change how you can perceive things, in ways similar to other mental conditions. The worst one is probably the sense of inefficacy, an absolute conviction that nothing you do can change anything. Another horrible effect of depression is the twisting of things to be negative and directed at the self, think paranoia with a side of mishearing everything to be an insult. I genuinely feel bad for these people, in the same sort of ways I feel bad for drug addicts. I just want to help them, but I don't know what would really help.
Maybe the reason I care so much is because I could have been one. I fit the criteria to be an incel, hell I could say that about being a drug addict too. I like to think I am just a stronger person, but it is absurd to say my friends and family had nothing to do with it. Both of those options are equally depressing, because either they just weren't strong enough, or they weren't lucky enough.

My only sympathy with the incels is watching several girls you grew up with as child friends, grow up to only be attracted to abusers and so called "chads". What we need, *if* we're talking about a mental illness, is to first *diagnose* it responsibly, so that we can determine what it is, and how to treat it, then go about doing that. As some of these people have shown us, failure to do so hurts not only them, but everyone around them. To dismissively end on the position that the other guy is nuts, so he must be wrong, ha ha, is the attitude of a person who is not interested in the common good, but only in the success of his or her personal narrative.
If this video were overtly anti-porn, I could get behind that, but in fact, it's only a tertiary point. Peterson refers to it as "super-stimuli," which could mean *anything.* Innocuous things like pineapples and owls could be "super-stimuli" to some people, so what we need is a means of helping people to deal with whatever stimuli they wrestle with; to put it into its proper context, and to make their life decisions on a mature basis. When a person is under a misconception about life, and clings to it as a deeply personal hope, their motive for turning against that misconception must also be personal, and "it's not really like that" is anything but. Tell them that realigning their priorities, or improving their decision-making abilities is all part of the pursuit of a transcendent goal, more fulfilling, more satisfying, and much longer-lasting that a transitory pleasure like sex. Unless you can tell them that, what reason could they possibly have to not just pursue *pure* gratification?
As a woman, I think both men and women are equally shallow, it’s just that society shames shallow men but never bats an eye at shallow women, so you see more of them.
We need to provide training to incels on how to talk to women without being creepy or weird. I used to be an incel few years ago. I worked quite hard to build confidence with women and handle rejections . Although I am still a bit awkward sometimes but that's fine.
