Very good initiative! BUT sadly this is NOT a job of the residents or people who live in this area or any public Area ... This is a responsibility of any Local Government or Central Government in most Countries. It's very amazing and hard to believe that the people in this area have to Chip in or shared the costs of having this Paving road .... Crazy! ...
Well, in the U.S it depends on what road. If interstate national highway, it is the fund awarded by the national government. If it is a state highway, it is the state's budget. Many roads are local government's duties, and some funds are from the state or national government. However, I am a small real estate developer. New land development for residential or commercial are the responsibilities of the developer to pay everything for the new road, which must meet the standard by the government specifications; then the roads are dedicated to the public and the government takes over for future repairs and improvements. In Laos is different, most people wait for the government to construct and repair the roads. In visiting Laos recently, it is sad that the house next to a big pot holes does not care to at least repair where it enter their houses.
✍, City plan for local development or city residents happy to pays their tax by a Quarterly or Yearly payments plan. I agreed with your informations High way funding sources came from Federal and Stare high way budgets, each states are different depend on how the fund and grant are allowcated...My beautiful city on the move always keep it clean and the road paved for walkways. Our State is modernized HWY constructions and 4-6 Lanes are safety Trafic Travelers. Thank you for sharing...🤣🤣🤣🚰🚰
We have similar problems in the US. Things do get done here. You guys have done a wonderful job getting something done. I think it comes down to what people are willing to pay themselves to pave a concrete road or pay in taxes to the government. The government can't always be dependable either. I think there needs to be a mix of both. There is no easy answer .Thank God 🙏🙏 Neenee.we have you there to be a part of the solution. Sending you much love❤ this Holiday Season ! from Jim and Harriet
Similar problems in the US? No, not really. We pay taxes in the US. We pay car registration fees every year. Part of these revenues are for road repairs and construction costs. Government are responsible for these. But in Laos, there are limited budget for these due to big corruptions everywhere, in every level of government, many luxurious cars, big houses, BUT bad, dirt roads...
Thank you so much Jim and Harriet !! for your kind words! I'm grateful to be a part of the solution. Wishing you and your family a wonderful holiday season as well, 🎉🎉
@@yinglee8513I agree with you and I understand your point. It's important that the government uses tax revenues responsibly for public projects. I hope that with time, the situation in Laos improves.
Saibaidii Neenee,,I find this very interesting,,because over the last 40 years ,I've operated most types of heavy construction equipment and I've put toger bids for various projects. One thing that makes it less expensive,,is that we use asphalt to pave with rather than concrete. Its alot less expensive,,but it doesn't last as long as concrete,,thank you Neenee Ttyl,,,Marlon
It is the responsibility of the government to built roads and infrastructure for the people from the taxes collected. Not put that money back into their own pockets.
Great job having neighbors come together & building the road in front of your houses. in government there is going to be corruption (sad but true). At work i use the slogan if you want something done right do it yourself. some times more people cause commotion and confusion.
Too much corruption 😢😢😢 I just crossed the border between Laos and Cambodia down south at 4000 island Was ripped off 5 US $ to get my stamp in the passport
Congratulation NiNi and Todd for being real leaders: action and no talking. Lao government is the contrary: blablabla and not actionbut a lot of corruption instead. They don't serve the people but only serve themselves. And they say they have a "communist regime " ! 😢
Laos has the strangest form of communism. Public infrastructure should be provided by the government, but instead there you have individuals having to pay for public infrastructure themselves. That creates incredible inefficiency, unreliability and lack of standards, such as when the road ends because some people can't afford it. Even if they can afford to fill in the gap later, that hodgepodge will be more expensive than doing it all at once.
Can you indoem ua on how much of your road remains to be concreted? You mention your/neighbors' section is about 400 meters. How many meters remain to the main road, or about how much remains, three quarters, two thirds, half, one third, one quarter? Thanks! 🙏
I don't know the solution, but I think that the very, very low salaries of government employees should be a top concern for the government. My wife and I are privileged to work with hospital workers. Hospital workers in rural areas can have farms to add to their income. Workers in the cities have to pay high prices on salaries that have not increased very much. They are trying to improve the quality of the treatment that they provide even though they have very big personal challenges.
Laotians do not want the country to have a Multi-Party System, because if there is a Multi-Party System, they will be like dogs and cats, and then the country will fall into chaos or war, which means the country will be thrown back 50-100 years.
Yes. What some don't know is, car registration in Laos is only about $30, and our land rates/tax just a few dollars a year. In most developed countries those two things combined are in the thousands of dollars. Also, having to build the road yourself.. we know we're getting it done properly 👌😉
@NowinLao my inlaws still buy insurance on top of the registration but it's only a fraction of what we pay in canada. snow plowing, sanding, then brushing the sand back up, costs canadians millions a year. not to mention sewer costs. Lao has the perfect weather most of the time.

Great job! Neenee. Thank you for the wonderful news

Laotians do not pay taxes, they only pay for electricity and water
Only in Laos...
I thoroughly agree! Any road for general use is the responsibility of the pertinent government -- NOT that of the impacted residents! 🙏
