I've been a fan of star wars since I was 3 I'm 23 now. I was playing Kotor as a 4 year old. Spent hours and hours of my life watching lore videos from every lore channel even if they were concepts or events I've heard and read already. I think acolyte is fine. But when news articles and posts come out about how "the fandom is toxic", or how a show is being "review bombed" on a website that is notorious for questionable ratings both good and bad, or how people make asshole remarks on people who disagree for no reason except to be shitheads (note: this video is very entertaining, it's meant to be that way, so I don't consider it being shitty to other people), then the gloves come off and conversations need to be had. While I'm sick of fucking talking heads saying how me and others like me are "ruining Star Wars" because we don't like or criticize bad content, I'm also sick of people policing what others can or can't like (not the criticism of the thing itself, or the arguments made people who do, but actively trying to tell people they are bad for liking it). That's all.
And the thing is, there are arguments to be made behind the scenes with that. There ARE some big flaws with the Prequels, but that doesn't mean they are bad by default. It's relative. I don't care if people like The Acolyte or not. But if they do, and they try to make it a problem for me or others just because I don't, then I take issue with it.
I've honestly seen better acting at amature drama clubs. Maybe some of these "reactors" should book some acting lessons if they wish to continue producing their fake content. Personally I think these people should go out and get real jobs instead of screaming into a camera while pretending to care about some mediocre television show that usually ends up getting canceled due to low viewership numbers. But that's just my opinion.

Don't get me wrong, I don't like The Acolyte, or 90% of Disney Star Wars. But the rhetoric of caring about who likes it or who doesn't was wrong from the start, and it's wrong now.
Calling out and criticizing poorly made/poor quality content? Absolutely.
Calling out and correcting people, like My Name is Simon, for saying demonstrably stupid shit ("Canon is whatever you want it to be. It's always changing and that's awesome."), or "Kyle Katarn" for putting out a First Time reaction video wherein he behaved like that, but states it's his fourth time watching it, or the arrogance of saying "You can call me shills all you want, you're just jealous", totally fine. Hell, when they cross the line and you mock them without crossing past said line, totally on board with.
But harassing (actual targeted harassment, not criticism or argumentation) and ridiculing people solely on the grounds of liking x, y, or z content is smooth-brained.
I despise The Last Jedi, as a film and as a Star Wars story, but I don't hate the people who enjoyed it or like it. I'd rather talk with them about why they liked it, especially if they put forward an argument about why it's "good" beyond the fact they enjoyed it.
But I wouldn't call them a "fake fan", just that I would begin to question what and why they like Star Wars to begin with. Like that one reactor said, "my bar is pretty low, just give me the sounds and aliens and lightsabers and I'm happy"
I wouldn't call them a fake fan, but I'd ask them, question them on where "the line" is for what they consider beneath their bar, and eventually, they would have an answer. Because the funny thing is, among these so called "true fans", or "hardcore fans", I could ask them, "You know before Disney bought it, there were 8 movies, right? They made two Ewok movies." They would be flabbergasted.

They would be shocked.
People can like what they like, and in of itself, that's perfectly fine and well.
But when news articles and posts come out about how "the fandom is toxic", or how a show is being "review bombed" on a website that is notorious for questionable ratings both good and bad, or how people make asshole remarks on people who disagree for no reason except to be shitheads (note: this video is very entertaining, it's meant to be that way, so I don't consider it being shitty to other people), then the gloves come off and conversations need to be had.
While I'm sick of fucking talking heads saying how me and others like me are "ruining Star Wars" because we don't like or criticize bad content, I'm also sick of people policing what others can or can't like (not the criticism of the thing itself, or the arguments made people who do, but actively trying to tell people they are bad for liking it). That's all.
And the thing is, there are arguments to be made behind the scenes with that. There ARE some big flaws with the Prequels, but that doesn't mean they are bad by default. It's relative.
I don't care if people like The Acolyte or not. But if they do, and they try to make it a problem for me or others just because I don't, then I take issue with it.

I've honestly seen better acting at amature drama clubs. Maybe some of these "reactors" should book some acting lessons if they wish to continue producing their fake content.
Personally I think these people should go out and get real jobs instead of screaming into a camera while pretending to care about some mediocre television show that usually ends up getting canceled due to low viewership numbers. But that's just my opinion.
Problem is our society has made this a real job, these people are probably making twice what a real job gives
