This song is so wonderfully surreal. I didn't like it at first, but after a few listens, something clicked and suddenly I realized how friggin' amazing it is.

Maybe the most powerful Canadian song of all time. Epic in every sense of the word. This is a great example of less is more.

This band deserves so much more notice than they have! Greatest Canadian band of all time imo!

Gorgeous stuff. Like everyone else I too miss these guys. Sooooooooo underrated - it took all of one show to convince a musician friend of mine that these guys were 'it'. Go Martin...

One Friday night 19 years ago I came home and this was on MUCH; I was entranced. This was in the pre-youtube days and I knew that they would not have this video on rotation and I didn't have another way to see aside from luck. So I would come home every weekend night and hope it was on...but it never was! Then about 2 years later I came home late turned on the TV and it was playing! It was such an amazing feeling! I bought Whale Music and have loved it, the movie and the book ever since

My very favourite song on the whole album. Mesmerizing. Beautiful. Haunting. Intense. So happy it's here, and what an amazing performance...

There's another youtube of this song being done at a television station live. Only the Rheostatics would get invited to a morning show to sell their album and do a song about a cancer patient.

Thank you for taking the time to post these videos. I didn't know there was a video for this song. They were such an incredible live act. They are truly gifted musicians and songwriters. They should have been really big!

This song has haunted me for almost 30 years, since the day I saw them perform it live on Much (which fortunately I recorded). I don't understand it completely and I think the "love conquers all" ending is a bit of a cop-out (compared to, say, the ending of RBC!) but thanks to Rheostatics for writing this!

Here they are the best rock band ever. Four guys on a surreal trip.

It's really sad the radio stations in Vancouver ,for one, don't play the Rheos' music. So I sneak them on when I can. Why deny people a listen to one of our best acts ever?

Sadly underrated band, but I think they're cool with it...Last Lp 'Here come the wolves' was and is testament to the statement above :)

I totally agree. Their music isn't always as catchy as some other stuff from their time, which is probably why they didn't get all that popular. Once you give their songs a few listens, though, they start to grow on you. Most people didn't get that far, but those who did don't regret it. Hence, a cult following.
