    Oh Maria, Im so sorry, i feel somewhat responsible for all this palava you went through haha, but I couldn’t not comment about it being wonky for a 4K, that’s simply not acceptable!

      Thank you so much for pointing it out! You were the only one who mentioned it. I was chuffed to bits with my new baby and probably by the time I noticed it was wonky it would’ve been too late to exchange it knowing how Chanel are with their return/ exchange policy 🙄 xx

      Follow My Obsession I have worked in luxury brands such as Chanel and fendi and I can say definitely say this is a tactic used throughout. They will say only their store has the item so they get the commission and meet their targets. So it’s better if you go to different stores and ask.

    OMG Maria, what a horrible experience. As I also work in luxury retail, I feel the pain of customers who are not happy with their product. I'm one to replace it immediately without discussing it with my manager or colleagues, since I know they follow the procedure of convincing the customer it's OK or trying to blame the customer. Especially if the item is brand new or hardy being used I don't play the game with the customer, as I don't want to be treated like that either! The controls are so bad across all brands these days, that this video is so helpful and important . I understand how excited you were when you saw and got your dream bag, that you forgot to check every single detail. What a great reminder for all of us to be extra careful. I'm really happy for you, that you got your bag at the end. Even though your SA should have contacted you and she should also have been able to see what bags were coming in, when you brought the bag back.

    So sorry Maria! That’s terrible So basically they got you to do there job for them! They literally sent you on your way to find it, fetch it and rebuy it! Terrible customer service that’s what puts me off with going in and getting anything from these boutiques

    For that money you paid they must transfer the bag to any boutique! Its incredible the customer had to chase the bag for the money u paid! Basically u paid 4 K and u did their job! However they will get the commission for your bag sale... its so customer unfriendly environment. Shame on chanel or on any brand, it seems if we are not a VIP customer they wont lift even a finger!

      Chanel is terrible. Louis Vuitton flipped when they saw that my 3 year old bag had a defect and immediately offered to replace it with a new one even though I bought it from a different COUNTRY.
      Pearls fell out of my Chanel bracelet and they made me pay to fix it and the pearls were different colors lol
      what I do is buy Louis Vuitton straight from the boutique because it's worth the extra money and Chanel I get second hand because they simply don't offer value but have nice stuff.

      Faty Klein the problem nowadays is, the customer itself. I would never let them treat me this way, and would never chase it in whole London, my God even at Primark you get a better customer service. If I’m paying so much money for a bag I want also a top customer service. But they know people will buy from their brand again, so they will continue to treat people this way. And I don’t think it’s enough to say I don’t buy from this particular store - it’s still the same brand, doesn’t matter where you give them your money. Something has to change

      Amelonado I understand ur point however as you said smthg needs to change. If they do provide customer with a great sales service (bcuz a commission is included) they must be also prepared to provide a same quality level for an after sales service. Maybe brands should be also rewarding employees by customer satisfaction where the Industry is moving nowadays . Maybe the decision is on customer thats why we are moving to vintage instead of buying new brand.

    Well it least they changed your bag I guess. I got a marked bag from Harrods and I went back the next morning. They refused to exchange it and tried to accuse me of marking the bag myself!!!! I was in such shock. I shopped all the time at Chanel and they treated me horribly that day. Never gone back since.

      cocochicone I think you have point for sure especially if you are purchasing from a different country. You actually don’t know what is going on in the back when they wrap your item. I believe that was where my bag was marked. Coz before that when I was trying it on. The mark was not there. Get home and it was right there on the front of the bag. If I am parting that much money I am sure I would have noticed that before it was packed.

      cocochicone It’s best when you check the bag and you also look at the serial number so that when you return home, you can tally the serial number again to make sure the bag isn’t swap.

      cocochicone yea they do. My first Chanel was a card holder and the SA showed me a brand new “plumpy” piece and they packed a cardholder that felt used but I had left the country and I had to keep it. I now ask the SA to pack stuff in front of me Before I pay and if they say no I leave the store. I don’t need it.

      Thats why i take a picture of the serial number before they go and wrap the bag i buy because for some reason i feel like these SA change the bag when they go inside and wrap the bag for u, also i unwrap the bag in the store before going out from the store to make sure its the same bag i have checked. Trust issues😅😅😅

    I am really pleased that you managed to get a replacement bag since you love it so much!
    However, ever since i was a little girl my aim has always been to own a Chanel classic flap, to buy in store and have the full experience. Watching this (and other influencers) has confirmed for me that investing in a brand new Chanel bag is sadly no longer worth the money and also seems like some of the customer service is shocking. You should not have to run all over the city to find a perfect bag... do they not have a quality control department?! I still love the look of the brand, but would only now consider buying vintage. The quality is far superior and i won't have to deal with bad customer service. Thank you for showing us your true experience,it really does help and will save me and people like me from disappointment. Xx

      Charlie Hall I would suggest going to Paris when you are ready to buy. I got my first one in London and the lady really annoyed me. I then went to Paris and the whole experience was so much better. Full service and ran through my options.

    The quality control is ridiculous if so many of them had a crooked flap in the first place. Worse, trying to sell you a bag with an obvious manufacturing defect on the basis that it's "handmade". It's one thing for it to be handmade and have tiny imperfections here and there, but the flap is literally on the front of the bag.

    Okay this is absolutely shocking, shocking to start with but appalling how they received stock that day and didn’t even have the decency to contact you, that part really tipped me over the edge! 😂 I think you should definitely take this further; this fault was NOT your fault, no matter if you paid £4 of £4000, you shouldn’t be doing their job for yourself!!! Crazy!

    I did notice the flap was wonky on the video but tbh when your watching on video it’s hard to tell if it is actually wonky or if it’s just the camera angle hence why I didn’t say anything! Such a shame 😩😩 I hate it when SA’s try to convince you that it’s wonky coz it’s handmade 🙄🙄 do they think we are stupid 🤣🤣 Hermes are handmade and you don’t see their bags with wonky flaps 🤣🤣 my daughter just walked in while watching your video and she said to me “ who’s that lady mummy? She’s so pretty”

I would have demanded that they resolve the issue from beginning to end, They sold you a faulty bag so they need to provide you with a new one...After all you don't work for Chanel 😱 Totally unacceptable 🤬 I'm glad you got your dream bag in the end ❤

    I’ve really gone off purchasing high end items. My Chanel bag’s strap broke on first wear. For €4000+ one wouldn’t expect that to happen.

    Chanel Bond St. is absolutely awful in the customer service area....I have never seen so much rudeness going around...Never felt like that in any other store....I think they make a special effort to find the least friendly people to hire ..

    U shouldn’t be the one walking around from shop to shop trying to find the bag! They should check in their system and transfer for you!! Bad service ! It’s the same thing in Australia ! Some boutiques just have the worse service because Chanel sells itself , no need to convince customers especially leather goods ! Argh so annoying! So glad u reunited with ur bag again!!!! Xxxx the green is the best choice! X

    this is crazy! you pay 4 k for a bag and you can't get it even straight and when you come to exchange it you have to run all over the city to find it!
    sorry but i think that this is not how customers should be treated by managers at the CHANEL boutique..... you pay not only for a bag but for the experience of luxury shopping and luxury customer service!

      Part of the Reason the customer service a Chanel is bad at times is becuase of how many extremely Flakey and Irresposible "Customers" come through their doors. These customers are extremely high-maintinence, manipulative, untruthful, etc.

    Should get money back within 30 days of purchase if faulty. Up to 6 months after should have replacement or repair or money back if neither possible. Up to 6 years after or expected life of purchase can get some money back. Tagged you in an Instagram post regarding this as I had problems with Rolex that you always wanted. They are hyped and faulty. Get a Swatch Group brand like Breguet; Omega; Blancpain; Glashuette Original. The floral dress was nice. Good to see the London shops.

      Huge fan of a fellow consumer who actually knows their legal rights! Funnily enough had to use it in high end boutiques and never on the high street. Almost puts you off spending so much money if you’re going to get bad service.

      Noor A Thanks, I only found out after trying to get a Rolex watch which was faulty changed for a new one. The Citizens Rights produced this PDF covering the main points of the new Consumer Rights Act 2015. You have to be mentally tough like Maria and her friend were here to sort it out. I got nowhere and it was a case of you take them to Court, I couldn’t get a solicitor who would help me. Obviously that could be prohibitively costly and you can lose in Court and have to pay their legal costs as well as your own. What you should have is a Legal costs addition to your home insurance with the contents. It covers you for this and you can take action about problems that arise after you take it out; not pre-existing problems. I’m glad the Instagram link gives you some idea what your Consumer Rights; but you ultimately need the home insurance Legal Costs cover to enforce them as many retailers flout them. Many luxury goods are a rip off; like Rolex and obviously Chanel.

      Andrew Holt Very good points raised. I had a similar problem with Mercedes. Although I took the case to the Ombudsman whose decision is as binding as a Court’s but it was totally free. Something to keep in mind for the future!

      I remember something about an Ombudsman; but there is a maximum amount like £3-4K you can deal with. Meredes is supposed to be an excellent car? It seems to be no better than a Ford costing a fraction of the price.

    It sounds a little sketchy that the day you found the bag without the defect, your original CHANEL boutique claims they received two bags. Yeah right! I am willing to bet they had at least one of them in stock all that time, while you were searching the streets of London.

    I Just bought my chanel trendy bag in New York city and Thanks to this video i put attention to the flap, they almost wanted to sell me one with the same flap problem but i told them No the flap is not straight, they showed me 2 more of the same bag until i choose the one with the straightest flap.Thanks Maria!!!!!

    I had a similar experience in Sydney Australia. Went there from overseas and on my last few days there bought a coco handle. When I unbox it, I noticed that some of the quilting have lines on them like they have been folded. I went back to the store to exchange it and they refuse it. The manager told me that the bag is not in a resale-able condition as it has defects and blamed me for not checking the bag properly before i bought it. He told me to check the other boutiques. So I went to 2 different ones. They had so many excuses saying that I couldn’t exchange because I didn’t bring the original packaging, and because the other store’s manager said no so they have to say no. It was so frustrating, I couldn’t do go back to get the box as the place I was staying was far and it was my last days. So I’m happy that it all works out for you but yea until now I still feel a bad taste in my mouth.

    I totally understand that you expected a bag to be flawless whn you paying that much money for a bag.
    I have been to chanel stores many time lately to buy something, to be honest their quality is so bad i feel like i was touching a fake items everytime !
    So i ended up not buying anyting.
    The price keep increasing but the quality has gone down 👎

    I don't understand how chanel can get away with doing this in the UK especially where there is legislation. The bag is obviously faults and bought back within a suitable period they should have refunded your money in full not given you a credit note. Glad you found it tho - all due to your own hard work - really bad they did not call you when they got the delivery to stop you wasting time running around the different boutiques.

    OMG. This is awful. That flap would have bothered the crap out of me too! I bought a Chanel mini tweed in Harrods in july and I demanded the SA to bring me all the bags she had for the same reason. One had the side sticking out, one had a crooked cc lock and one had a crooked flap. Finally she brought out one that was nearly perfect! For the money we spend......I mean Hermes is hand stitched, not Chanel, they do use a God damn machine to sew it!

    Hi Maria. So happy that you managed to get the bag in the end. I had the same problem with Chanel when I was looking for the Espadrilles. When they weren’t perfect the excuse was always that this is because they are hand made. Sounds like it’s their go to excuse. Hope you enjoy your new bag. 🙂

    This is why I don’t shop at Chanel anymore. It’s a shame that you had to go through all that work to get the right bag. I also can’t stand that your SA tried to talk you into settling, when he/she knew the bag wasn’t perfect. I’m sorry you had to go through all that, but I’m glad you finally got the perfect one.

    That shade of green is so perfect & beautiful! Glad you got it back in better condition then other one! But typical reatill sales they're happy to take your money but when you're unhappy & need to do an exchange/return they can't be botherd to do the work 🙄 but I'm so much like you when it comes to something I really want I'll literally do the absolute most to get it!😅

    Terrible after sale customer sale services by Chanel. I bought my one only Chanel Jumbo 8 yrs ago for my 35 birthday, saved up £1,800 for it for a year; still love and use it.

    I’m so grateful I watched your video before getting my trendy CC bag. I ended up getting one in Selfridges and I was so paranoid about making sure the flap was straight. I saw a crooked grey one in the store. If it wasn’t for this video, I might not have even noticed or checked to see if the flap was crooked.

    Hi, If I had read your post earlier I would have been able to assist. I personally know the Store Director for London area who I know would have helped. They do have a long wait at times but poor service is inexcusable.

    I dont own a Chanel just as yet, but am thinking about purchasing one as soon as their boutique reopen back up. Everyone says Chanel has the worse customer service. I'm starting to wonder if this is done intentionally by Chanel headquarters when training all their sales representatives when being hired? I'm sure Chanel wants their sales reps to treat customers with rudeness, disrespect with their snobby attitude in order to chase out most customers and only cater to the wealthy/rich. It's called class discrimination. This is why I'm scared to shop for a Chanel at their boutiques eventhough I do plan to purchase one.

    I am delighted for you. The bag is stunning. So very sad that Chanel sells defective bags and the hired help is not at all helpful. I love quality and buy vintage. I do not want to buy from or be subjected to rude clerks.

    I absolutely agree, when you're paying so much money for anything, bag, shoes, clothes etc you want perfection, so I too would have been irritated if I had something that was less than perfect, and for me, it needs to be perfect, because the slightest thing will irritate me, and I won't rest If I know it is not how it should be. Pity you had to do all the leg work to get what you wanted, I find sometimes these high end boutiques can be hit and miss, you really have to be very lucky, either you have it just right, or its just so wrong, there seems to be no in between. Your afternoon tea looked delicious, so many cakes to choose from, spoilt for choice, I would have had enough after one scone and one cake, but if you've a sweet tooth, you're sorted.

    Recently I returned two 19B red Chanel CF and I didn’t purchase the third one in the Chanel store. First one was directly sent to my home, it had a color stain. 2nd one had an oversized liner that caused the inner flap bent outward. 3nd one had uneven flap... I eventually gave up because there’s no reason to pay $5600usd + tax for bad craftsmanship.

    I recently went to Louis Vuitton in selfridges in London. It was a horrible experience. A huge queue to get served and then they didn’t have anything I wanted in stock. They told me “oh we have one in this other boutique “ , but why should I run around London when I am spending so much money on a bag?! I think because of you tube and Instagram these luxury brands feel they don’t need to make any effort anymore because they get so much free advertising from people showing their luxury purchases in videos and pictures. There is so much demand for these products now and the companies can’t cope with it so they have bad customer service and poor quality products.

    Poor customer service fr Chanel. They should have called you to give you an update that they have it back in stock. And why would they sell 4,000 pound bag with crooked flap and scuff. How much do you have to spend at a boutique for them to give you the ultimate “satisfaction and perfection guaranteed”. Anyhow, so happy you have your pristine one now.     I am so sorry about the bag, it is a gorg design. They are def losing quality at Chanel over the years and crazily increasing the prices! I bought a medium classic flap in Paris in 2014 and the golden CC logo peeled off a bit after a couple of uses. So unfair. Unluckily there is no Chanel store in my country, so there was nothing I could do. I don’t regret the purchase since it has gone up in price a ton since then, but I mean, nothing like that happened to me with LV for example.

    YOU have to look for the bag in the other boutiques? Can they look up in the system and do that for you, the customer? Make some phone calls? Aaaaaand that’s why I don’t even consider shopping at Chanel.

    You should be the cover model for those first pair of sunglasses. They look better on you than any handbag ever could! This is my first time watching. I don't even know who you are but when you put on those sunglasses you went from normal attractive girl to cover of a magazine.

    Shocking customer service from Chanel! Shame on them for making you run around after a bag that they sold to you, and they, “the company” should be chasing for you as the customer. It’s not even about the price tag, although you’d think that with amount they charge, customer satisfaction would be key! It’s the principal behind being a luxury brand, where you are respected and treated as a valued consumer parting with their hard earned money in exchange for their goods and services. I feel it’s terrible that they made you go a wild goose chase after the bag when really they should have sourced the perfect bag for you without the excuses of it’s expected to have faults because it’s handmade (what a joke).
    Finally I couldn’t believe they didn’t even have the courtesy to call you when they received new stock that morning, all the while knowing you were after the bag 😱😤🙁 that’s beyond poor and completely inadequate for a brand that charges premium prices yet treats customers like that? It’s out of order!
    Having said that, I’m glad you got your happy ending for all the stress they put you through! I hope they offered you a good will gesture or some sort of compensation for all the unnecessary stress and appalling customer service.
    Enjoy your baby, how about calling it the “jade” bag (after green jade that’s supposed to be lucky and prosperous for an individual 🍀)
