My aunt brought me a pendant depicting Mary when I was 3 years old, in 1956. It is faded now 67 years later, but has always held great meaning for me, a sense of protection and love in difficult times. I hope to visit Walsingham before I die.

I love this place, my ex partner lived here, I visited here countless times, she left me 10 years ago but I still get upset when I think about the life we would have had here, the scenery was amazing, not too far away is wells next the sea, it’s a lovely beachside town, I miss all or Norfolk, and I miss her, I hope she remembers me :’(

Beautiful! But you managed not once to even mention the Anglican shrine with its jewel of a shrine church, or the restoration of the pilgrimage among Anglicans. I say that as an American Catholic priest who has been blessed to make the Walsingham pilgrimage five times.

Interesting, but the new, modern chapel is disappointing, (as is the statue in the Slipper Chapel). These reflect the state of the Church. Hopefully, a fitting monument will be constructed, incorporating that which remains of the original structure, and built in the same style. Other major pilgrimage sites are equally unappealing: the modern, ghastly structures in Guadalupe and Fatima, for example.

I've been to the Slipper Chapel this past weekend. The model Chapel doesn't disapppoint. It is calm, practical and welcoming - faith in action...

The statue in the Slipper Chapel is modeled on that of the original seal of the Augustinian priory of Walsingham. You can be assured that the 'new' statue is very close to the original ...even to Mary's Saxon crown! Gordon Carter. Adelaide. South Australia. (Ps. Thanks be to God I have been blessed by being able to visit Walsingham twice and even fronting up to 80 in a few weeks, would go again!)
