Holy cow, new respect for aerospace fighters! Great final battle to end the campaign. Loved seeing the lights going up against those big mechs. Very cinematic imo. Thanks Aaron, Dan, & Thom!
Always a treat to watch you guys play. The Jade Falcon's forgot to account for the Steiner Scout Lance(s) that are returning to rescue 'Bubbles'. Thanks to all of you for the great game play.
Man that Aerospace fighter was deadly.I probably would be upset like Dan seeing that cause so much damage to my force in just a few passes. Also Cyclops are cursed lol. Great battle report can't wait for the next one.
This was awesome guys! I’m about to start my own alpha strike campaign with a buddy of mine this Saturday. You guys are great inspiration. Thanks for doing what you’re doing.
@@thomberg3457 I mean we are Jade Falcon so it's like what we've done for the last Era essentially. The Mongol way. It was just sad to see Dan deflated in the first turns all
After looking over the part of the game at 58:02, where Aaron mentioned CASE and the Clan 'Mechs, I went to my box packing the Horned Owl. Clan 'Mechs that use ammo weapon systems all come with CASE, whether as Omnimechs, or second-line Battlemechs, because Clan 'Mechs always have CASE integrated into their armor. The Horned Owl that Thom used, is the standard model, which has ENE for an all energy build to ignore ammo explosions. The flipside of the card with the standard Horned Owl does have CASE. TLDR: Aaron was correct to utter that expletive over Clan 'Mechs all having CASE, unless they are ENE versions. Also, shout out to Kevin: We all miss you, the Redstone Rangers, Akai Oni, and House Po(especially the nap loving Master Po in his Marauder II)! That Sabutai looked very nice. A good thing to see the return of Bubbles and Prybar. That Cyclops is cursed in Alpha Strike, with being killed a second time. A good, fun Battle Report to be sure. I will definitely recommend you guys to anybody I introduce to BattleTech, to help you guys grow.
Honestly, I thought the light star was going to get vaporized not just by the assault lance but also the vehicle support that Dan had. Imagine a clan heavy star with an aerospace support! I thought this was a well written campaign and kinda sad to see it come to an end.
Subutai broke this scenario, it went from slight IS favor to clan wash as soon as that thing came on board. The only IS advantage is armor, and the Aero negated that in two turns. Best thing the Lyrans could have done was march into the woods as soon as that thing struck. Still fun to watch but, have to wonder what would have happened without the Fighter? Thom played it smart and Dan was a hell of a good sport and put up a solid fight. Also Cyclops almost never pays for itself, from what ive seen, not to mention cursed for yall apparently.
I would have had stronger mech force, but classic clan weaknesses. The sabutai was very expensive and to be honest, aerospace can be countered with different strategy - Dan hadn’t really faced it on the board before so this was somewhat of a learning experience in how to approach them. The first strike advantage is real though. We just filmed a batrep where you’ll see an evolved strategy based on this game which somewhat blunted the aerospace. Part of the fun!
@@thomberg3457 that is great news, looking forward to seeing the evolution of it and more battle reports to be honest :). Poor Dan. When the dice don't want to behave it's always hard. But he had a good time, so not so bad. Also odd to see omnimechs and second-line mechs in the same star. I think in the Clan Invasion era it was unthinkable. Dezgra display. But who can be upset with Thom?
For Clan front line units, they do tend to stick to Omnis and Trueborn only as much as possible (especially Jade Falcon/Smoke Jaguar types, some of the other clans are not as strict - even then, you still see examples like Aiden and Horse being "freeborn" but piloting Omnis as part of a front line unit, so even the strict clans have examples that fall outside the norms). But remember that this campaign is taking place on a planet garrisoned by Clan Jade Falcon. The unit stationed there is likely a second line unit, which may have Omnis and Second Line mixed together, as not all garrison units are exclusively 2nd Line equipment.
