S1 - Ep 216 - Koffiefontein - Second World War Prisoners Were Held Here!

As we entered Koffiefontein the first place we saw was the station and it was the same as the stations at most of the other little towns we've visited thus far. Totally destroyed and abandoned. It was a Friday afternoon and the end of the month as we were driving through the main road of Koffiefontein, so it was very busy! We decided to drive through other streets in town to see what we could discover. I was impressed with the huge War Memorial on the hill remembering the ones who fell during the first World War and who came from Koffiefontein. We also visited the site where the Second World War prisoners were held. Unfortunately there wasn’t much left, other than a few pieces of concrete.
