Damn.....I keep getting a write error during the tipping process...right as it gets near 67% completion. Also, I have to install the run dat.org files right before ripping, unlike in your video. Would that make a difference? I've tried this 4 times now, so it's not a random glitch/gremlins. Any help would be mucho appreciated.
No, this is my first attempt at any thing like this. I noticed in the video, that that file was already in there. Perhaps I should try again without installing that file. However, it mentions that file running below during The Ripping process.

Hello, I'm the GC Dev on Schtserv. If you are creating your own Access Key and Serial Number, please don't choose the same digit like 777777777 etc. Please make sure your SN/AK are random numbers. Please also be aware that the password you enter in your game does not have to match your password in myHL on the scht website. Sega made you add a password for seemingly no reason at all.

while this tutorial was good at the time, its become much MUCH easier with Nintendont ever since version 6.0. perhaps we could get an updated tutorial?

Just a question. I'm considering buying a Japanese copy of Phantasy Star Online I & II. This is because it can save me some cash without having to buy the NTSC copy, considering I have an American Wii. I homebrewed my Wii with Priiloader, which then allowed me to enable my console to play Wii games from any region, while also being able to play Gamecube games from any region. I don't know if you've tried this, or if anybody else has tried this method, but with doing all of the same steps, would a JP copy of Phantasy Star Online I & II work online with an American Wii?
You really should make an updated tutorial, since devolution doesn't work anymore, also it doesn't really work on the Wii U. Nintendont on the other hand does work on the Wii U.

Awesome video! I know this game was released twice on GameCube with the second release being uncommon but slightly different. Does it matter which game you have? Like could u play with someone online that has a different version of the game than u?
Yeah, they work together. The second version (plus) was only released in North America I believe. It removed some exploits that allowed piracy. The EU version is basically that second edition too as it released later.

@@scottbaeuerle996 Make sure both are programs are located in their own separate folders. Those folders should be placed inside the Apps folder. Let me know if you're still stuck, or ask the Forums for some assistance.

You certainly can, and I've thought about doing a video on it. Thanks for the suggestion! I have a friend who used to play MKDD online via warppipe pretty much daily in 2004.
If you already have Homebrew,you're in a great position to do this! You'll still need to rip the game to SD Card, as it won't connect online otherwise.
Any idea if this would work on a Japanese Wii console and Wii version of the game with the price of what Phantasy Star is going for these days I wonder if that might be a cheaper option? I know that Phantasy Star Online has an English menu as I used to play it on my imported GameCube back in the day
I don't know for certain, but there should be absolutely no difference. Your Wii will still have a MAC Code, it'll still let you install Homebrew, and connecting the the server is international. I'd be interested to hear if you're successful.
So I have hit a bit of a snag. I have bought two different cards, one an SD card and one a microSD in an SD casing, 32GB and 64GB respectively. Unfortunately, both are getting the "this device cannot be used" when I use them. The original 1GB works fine but there's not enough space on it to fully use everything. Any tips?

The Japanese version of the game is playable in English and compatible with western versions online but Gamecube games are region locked on the Wii. Can CleanRip and Devolution rip and authenticate out-of-region games or would a game matching the region of the Wii be a requirement?
I've tried the current Main and Backup (144.217.87.48 and 149.56.167.128) as well as the main IP for the GC sever and keep getting Error 102,. Basically only get the error when logging into the DNS server
Hi, can I play PSO with the Wii controller and save the games in the sdcard? because my wii don't have slots for memory cards and controllers game cube.
Just a question (as I’ve seen it’s 2 years old), does this process still work? I have the GC controller and memory card, the disk copy of the PSO game and the Nintendo Wii (first version). Should the process still work? Also! I have a save file in my memory card that have my characters above lvl 100! Will I be able to keep them when getting online? Is it possible to have back ups of the save in case something goes wrong? (I’ve seen a guy mentioning the lose of save data, that got me worried, since my characters were played 100% with several hours of hunting down for good equipment I have some rare and legit weapons/equips..)
This method still works, but you can now do it all through Devolution and it's a lot less complicated. I haven't personally made a guide about it, sorry.

I'm trying to play PSO, but whenever I put my serial and access and try to connect, it says: NOW DIALLING (No.008) Attempt to connect to the server has failed. It is possible that the server is undergoing maintenance, or network settings incomplete. Please check your ISP settings and make sure they are complete and accurate. I followed every step of the tutorial, yet it still gives this error. What to do?
Hi. i tried to put the letterbomb on my sd card with the apps but i dont see a red bomb envelope in my wii messages, not in yesterdays, todays or tomorrows messages. i think im doing something wrong. i watched your video and did the exact things what u said in the video. Here's somethings to double check... Is your SD Card compatible/formatted with Wii. Make sure your MAC Address and Firmware are accurate. Your letter bomb files DO NOT need to be inside the Apps folder. This is just off the top of my head. Hope it helps.

If the Wii knows its there you're doing the right thing. You can always format it in settings to be sure (it'll wipe the card). There's also info on Nintendo's website.

@@AgresteEsko Thanks for watching! Keep in mind you can use Homebrew to back up GC Save files. If you restore a PSO file, it may not work online anymore, but I'm pretty sure you'd still be able to use it for offline play. SO that's something, if you're anxious. Backing-up Saves for all games is a good practise anyway.
Great tutorial. Just one thing: What exactly is the 'Password' that you make a note of (in red pen in the video)? You put in a serial no and access key, but then there is some extra password apparently... Is this the password used for your Schtserv account as opposed to anything to do with the Hunter's License specifically?

@@FossilArcade I checked, i have a 16gb sd card. I tried 3 times. My iso runs perfectly of pen drive or via nintendont and of disc. But, wii reject the disc after the light flash 3 times. I thought that just original disc can played... =(
I already made my account on Schthack, and made my a MyHL also, but when I go into the game on Usb Loader GX and choose provider options, I get a black screen that reads "An error has occurred. Turn the power off and refer to the Nintendo Gamecube Instruction Booklet for more information." My Wii doesn't have the Memory Card ports, but Usb Loader GX uses virtual memory cards. Any ideas on how I can work around this problem? Thanks again man! Great video btw!
Thanks for the compliment. How are you controlling the game without gc ports? Sounds like LOADERGX doesn't have WiFi support. That's why devolution is best for this. It let's you play online, while most other homebrew apps don't.
Ah I see! Perhaps I'll just install devolution just for this game. Oh and I'm using the Nintendo Classic Pro controller, they connect to the wiimote and act as a Gamecube controller. They're pretty handy when you don't have GC ports, but they also require you to constantly be buying batteries.. but I guess it's worth it. lol Oh and last question, while online, can I use voice chat somehow? or maybe type on a keyboard to others? (I do prefer voice chat) If so, what microphone or keyboard can be used? Thanks again dude! ^_^
I think you're going to hit some road blocks :( devolution requires the original disc for at least the first play, and I've no idea of it'll work with anything but a GC controller. You'll have to find out.
Fossil Arcade thanks yeah got it but am stuck. Do you know how to use the RawTools for GCMM? I extracted the hdr from a raw save file but don’t know how to replace it into another raw save file
It is possible to set up the Wii Emulation in the Wii U for Homebrew, so it should be completely doable, following the same instructions... However, I don't know what your control options will be. As far as I know, GC isn't supported through Wii on Wii U at all, so will require extra research I'm afraid.
Ok, so it didn't rip properly, 0kb on the iso. Tried another USB, got a good rip based on the file size. Won't boot, it seems to detect there's a game file. Moved to SD card that has HBC, etc. Won't boot. Devolution sucks...any advice here?

@@hiipepito I think you have to make sure your wii is updated, from what i remember I tried to update and the update would fail so i found a way to patch it but if your on 4.2 or something it needs to be 4.3 ... its been sometime so im not sure on details , sorry
Hello! I was successful through the entire process up until the end. I keep receiving an error that States, "wrong serial or access number. (No. 100) the line was disconnected. Game over. Press start". I ensured that I was using the PSO GC so I am not sure what else I could be doing wrong. Do you have any ideas?
At this point we are completely at a loss because we make sure to follow instructions perfectly every time we do this. The only time we were able to get online was when we put a 1 instead of a Zero we watched another video from about four years ago where he was saying to put a one to connect to schtserv or put a to or three to connect to other private servers when I put the one in we got onto some kind of online but I do not believe it was schtserv

Because this is not a SEGA server, you need to invent new numbers. The serial number is stored in the connection data file, separate to the characters.
I dudnt use anuthing like that, I just formated that card for Wii, and followed the steps exactly as you see in the video. The video is a literal execution of everything you need to do.
Okay, someone should get back to you. Otherwise, Id suggest going over the steps again. Might highlight a mistake, I couldn't say for sure what's causing it without more info.

My brothers wii continues to get error code 51330 when trying to connect to the internet. I set up the everything at my house and home brewed the wii at my house and everything worked fine. Then when I took it to his house he can’t connect to the internet. Do you have any suggestions for this problem?
According to Nintendo's website... Error Code 51330, 51331, and 51332 It appears that the wireless security pass code for your home network may have been changed or is entered incorrectly on the Wii console. So, try re-entering your passwords?
Fossil Arcade I’ve made sure that it is accurate and tried several time. The security password they refer to is changing to wpa2 which I have tried as well as all the options

Hey, just saw your comment! I'm keeping an eye on all this, so may make a video once all the unknowns are known. But I can tell you that Dreamcast, Gamecube and PC will probably never be able to play across the same server. Each version would require deep modifications. You can chat to each other in the Lobby, but the DC version is way behind GC in content and both are behind PC.

I've never installed that extra file, so could be a factor. Have you tried ripping any other games?

If you can try both: not using the file, and another game. If the other game works, could be an issue with the PSO disc.

David Maples You'll an adapter at the very least. Cheaper keyboards do exist, but they're all rare these days.

Personally, I've only used Devolution, and it'll play any CleanRipped game. I've ripped JPN Gamecube games and played the m without issue.

The link is broken, your using an old version of devolution without broadband support. Make sure devolution is version r234 or higher

This is fairly out of date now, so there are other methods of getting online. Try looking for a guide that uses Nintendont

It'll work on both versions :)
As far as I know, plus only has changes in it's Offline mode. Either way, it will connect to this and all over Servers.

Your account is saved to your Gamecube memory card, so it'll work from both systems.

I don't know for certain, but there should be absolutely no difference. Your Wii will still have a MAC Code, it'll still let you install Homebrew, and connecting the the server is international. I'd be interested to hear if you're successful.

So I have hit a bit of a snag. I have bought two different cards, one an SD card and one a microSD in an SD casing, 32GB and 64GB respectively. Unfortunately, both are getting the "this device cannot be used" when I use them. The original 1GB works fine but there's not enough space on it to fully use everything. Any tips?

Both are equally stable. You might be able to use a USB adapter for ethernet.

The Japanese version of the game is playable in English and compatible with western versions online but Gamecube games are region locked on the Wii. Can CleanRip and Devolution rip and authenticate out-of-region games or would a game matching the region of the Wii be a requirement?

If you have files of the SD card, or flash drive, make sure to back them up, or Clean Rip will delete everything.

Paul Charpentier No, you have to have the slots and GC accessories. I'm not sure the model if Wii you own will even read the disc.

Just a question (as I’ve seen it’s 2 years old), does this process still work? I have the GC controller and memory card, the disk copy of the PSO game and the Nintendo Wii (first version). Should the process still work? Also! I have a save file in my memory card that have my characters above lvl 100! Will I be able to keep them when getting online? Is it possible to have back ups of the save in case something goes wrong? (I’ve seen a guy mentioning the lose of save data, that got me worried, since my characters were played 100% with several hours of hunting down for good equipment I have some rare and legit weapons/equips..)
I even got the broadband adapter for Nintendo Wii, which back when I begun playing the PSO on the Wii, I had the hope to get it online! Lol!
And the Devolution software! Wow!! It sounds amazing! Being able to connect without the need of the adapter! Sweet!!
This method still works, but you can now do it all through Devolution and it's a lot less complicated. I haven't personally made a guide about it, sorry.

Hi. i tried to put the letterbomb on my sd card with the apps but i dont see a red bomb envelope in my wii messages, not in yesterdays, todays or tomorrows messages. i think im doing something wrong. i watched your video and did the exact things what u said in the video. Here's somethings to double check... Is your SD Card compatible/formatted with Wii. Make sure your MAC Address and Firmware are accurate. Your letter bomb files DO NOT need to be inside the Apps folder.

If the Wii knows its there you're doing the right thing. You can always format it in settings to be sure (it'll wipe the card). There's also info on Nintendo's website.

@@AgresteEsko Thanks for watching! Keep in mind you can use Homebrew to back up GC Save files. If you restore a PSO file, it may not work online anymore, but I'm pretty sure you'd still be able to use it for offline play. SO that's something, if you're anxious. Backing-up Saves for all games is a good practise anyway.

Great tutorial. Just one thing: What exactly is the 'Password' that you make a note of (in red pen in the video)? You put in a serial no and access key, but then there is some extra password apparently... Is this the password used for your Schtserv account as opposed to anything to do with the Hunter's License specifically?
Yeah, it's the password for you SchtServ account. It needs to be entered in the game as well.

Have you checked that the file ripped to the SD card correctly. Some times if the SD card is too small or has limited space, this can happen.
@@FossilArcade I checked, i have a 16gb sd card. I tried 3 times. My iso runs perfectly of pen drive or via nintendont and of disc. But, wii reject the disc after the light flash 3 times. I thought that just original disc can played... =(

I already made my account on Schthack, and made my a MyHL also, but when I go into the game on Usb Loader GX and choose provider options, I get a black screen that reads "An error has occurred. Turn the power off and refer to the Nintendo Gamecube Instruction Booklet for more information."
My Wii doesn't have the Memory Card ports, but Usb Loader GX uses virtual memory cards.

Sounds like LOADERGX doesn't have WiFi support. That's why devolution is best for this. It let's you play online, while most other homebrew apps don't.
Ah I see! Perhaps I'll just install devolution just for this game. Oh and I'm using the Nintendo Classic Pro controller, they connect to the wiimote and act as a Gamecube controller. They're pretty handy when you don't have GC ports, but they also require you to constantly be buying batteries.. but I guess it's worth it. lol
Oh and last question, while online, can I use voice chat somehow? or maybe type on a keyboard to others? (I do prefer voice chat) If so, what microphone or keyboard can be used? Thanks again dude! ^_^
I think you're going to hit some road blocks :( devolution requires the original disc for at least the first play, and I've no idea of it'll work with anything but a GC controller. You'll have to find out.

Should be. If you're using homebrew, get an app to rip data from your gc memory card. Then you can use it on other platforms.

It is possible to set up the Wii Emulation in the Wii U for Homebrew, so it should be completely doable, following the same instructions... However, I don't know what your control options will be. As far as I know, GC isn't supported through Wii on Wii U at all, so will require extra research I'm afraid.
So I purchased the game, did clean rip, but used USB, and moved as he noted. I've been stuck in verification for a long time. Something isn't right...
Ok, so it didn't rip properly, 0kb on the iso. Tried another USB, got a good rip based on the file size. Won't boot, it seems to detect there's a game file. Moved to SD card that has HBC, etc. Won't boot. Devolution sucks...any advice here?
Update, got it working. Re-used first flash drive again, all is well. Played/loaded! Hooray! Wish there was more people on...

You can reformat the card to be NTSC, but you'll lose any data. Save data cannot be shared between regions.
when I select the game in devolution it goes black for a few secs then quits out back to the homebrew channel any ideas?
Your storage device may not be fast enough to load the game, or the rip wasn't actually successful.

@@hiipepito I think you have to make sure your wii is updated, from what i remember I tried to update and the update would fail so i found a way to patch it but if your on 4.2 or something it needs to be 4.3 ... its been sometime so im not sure on details , sorry

Hello! I was successful through the entire process up until the end. I keep receiving an error that States, "wrong serial or access number. (No. 100) the line was disconnected. Game over. Press start". I ensured that I was using the PSO GC so I am not sure what else I could be doing wrong. Do you have any ideas?
Are you absolutely certain you enter your codes correctly and that they are unique?
Yes we tried making several different serial numbers always kept coming back to the same error

At this point we are completely at a loss because we make sure to follow instructions perfectly every time we do this. The only time we were able to get online was when we put a 1 instead of a Zero we watched another video from about four years ago where he was saying to put a one to connect to schtserv or put a to or three to connect to other private servers when I put the one in we got onto some kind of online but I do not believe it was schtserv

Because this is not a SEGA server, you need to invent new numbers. The serial number is stored in the connection data file, separate to the characters.

Not a very large one, Gamecube discs only carry around >2GB of data, but if you intend to rip multiple games, the Wii supports everything UP TO 32GB.

I dudnt use anuthing like that, I just formated that card for Wii, and followed the steps exactly as you see in the video. The video is a literal execution of everything you need to do.

My brothers wii continues to get error code 51330 when trying to connect to the internet. I set up the everything at my house and home brewed the wii at my house and everything worked fine. Then when I took it to his house he can’t connect to the internet. Do you have any suggestions for this problem?

It appears that the wireless security pass code for your home network may have been changed or is entered incorrectly on the Wii console.
So, try re-entering your passwords?

There's not much more I can suggest. This sounds very much like a wii/router issue. Lots of people have had this error though so there will be help onlinem

Hey, just saw your comment! I'm keeping an eye on all this, so may make a video once all the unknowns are known. But I can tell you that Dreamcast, Gamecube and PC will probably never be able to play across the same server. Each version would require deep modifications.
You can chat to each other in the Lobby, but the DC version is way behind GC in content and both are behind PC.

I think there is a way, but it's more complex than this. No memory card or gc ports on Wii U either.
