Thanks so much everyone for watching - And big thanks to Anna and everyone from Fabriano in Acquarello for the opportunity and for bringing us all together - Much appreciated
Thomas Schaller is not only a master of watercolor, but also a very good designer. He thinks about composition, not just the effects that watercolor can generate. What I find very interesting about his way of painting, and also very useful for all of us to improve our work, is that he always makes a value sketch before, to simplify the scene in 3 tones: dark, light and mid shadows . This way results in a strong composition and prevents him from getting lost in unnecessary details.
That was the most incredible tutorial I have ever seen! Thank you so much for your thorough explanations of tonal quality, washes, composition, lights vs darks and your mastery of technique! I have learned SO MUCH from you today! God bless you for sharing your incredible talent!
You are a very good teacher. The way you describe the composition and the planning of your painting process is so clear and informative. Thanks Tom. You are one of my favorite watercolor artist.
Thank you!!! la magie fonctionne,l'histoire est là,à travers la lumière de Central Park,et tellement d'indications précieuses qui nous sont transmises!!!admirative et reconnaissante!!
I am a huge fan of Thomas Schaller. Thank you so much for posting this lesson. I try to absorb all of your insights and perspectives of your painting (it’s an interpretation, not a replication of the photo). It’s all so greatly appreciated. Wishing you the best and good health during these challenging times.
Always informative and educational to watch you. I really appreciate how you so clearly explain why you are doing something, or using a particular brush or a blend of colors, and how each of those allows you to achieve the values you so beautifully paint. Thank you!, You inspire, as always.
Thanks Judy - I really think the answer to "how" is never the same for each painter or each painting - But it is more about the "why" - And I try my best to explain that as it unfolds for me
Great instruction. Can really see your thinking, which results in such emotional connection to the painting. An exquisite painting. Thank you for taking so much time to share this with us.
Dear Thomas I am a big fan of yours.Thank you for this great video.I have one question, what color is your blue and orange in your architectural paintings, I hope to meet you one day.Take care.

Tom... the first 15 minutes is the GOLD of this preso. Genius to reverse the lighting of the focal point. That diagonal is a killer idea
Thanks so much

His sketches are so beautiful. So descriptive. The painting is planned to each brush stroke. No wonder his paintings create magic on the canvas.
A wonderful instructor who so obviously loves the medium, he is incredibly successful and yet humble, a rare combination.
Thank you very much
