The most beautiful airplane ever designed and the model for every other airline passenger plane ever created. Have been a fan since the late 60's as a small child. Was privileged enough to board one in 1974 and never forgot it. Amazing technology from the early 1930's and there are still 400 or so in service til today. That is an unmatched record by any means in the aircraft industry. Bravo!

In January 1963 I had a flight in Royal Australian Air Force A65-63. Never forgotten the experience. I have loved the DC3 every since.
this aircraft was so far ahead of its time that it may never be obsolete!

I travelled in one in Costa Rica. As a regular inland transport. Had been in 1995. Very clean and going strong! I love this old bird! It has a timeless design.
As the historian on the documentary on UA-cam said, she was an "unassuming, flying truck." And as Donald Douglas said, "When they worked on her design in the mid-1930s, they had no idea she would outlive them all." But then, that's why we have the word, "Classic", in Mr Webster's book.
We used to live just north of Mbala northern Zambia, and when the time came to leave it was on a DC-3 wonderful it was too.

This is one of the best DC-3 videos I've seen in a very long while, even the propellers are correctly blurred. So annoying seeing props with a "strobe" effect in most other videos…Well done, thanks.

I saw, somewhere, drawings made by aerophiles of that era, envisioning what aircraft of the future would look like. Bleriot's drawing was not too far different from a DC-3.

The First Aircraft that I ever flew in was an Indian Airlines DC3 from Port Blair Andaman Islands to Calcutta Via Rangoon in 1962

I had the pleasure of flying the lead aircraft (DAK) at this event and shame it will never happen again(most probably) as AMY is
resident in the Aviation Museum at Ashburton Airfield just south of Christchurch NZ.
ZK-DAK continues to fly on Air Transport to this day ... www.flydc3.co.nz

amazing built to last built by Douglas but jack Northrop worked out the metal work the DC 2 and DC 3 far advanced anything that could be mass produced in the 19 thirties
