  • A quick tutorial on the industry standard for quick release plates - the Manfrotto 577!
    The Manfrotto 577 Rapid Connect Adaptergives you the freedom to remove the camera from the head without detaching it from the plate. It includes the 501PL plate and is compatible with the 501PLONG camera plate as well. A 1/4"-20 screw and a 3/8"-16 screw are included so you can use the plate with various cameras. Corresponding threaded holes on the side of the adapter allow you to store the screw that is not being used, so you can access it if and when you need it.
    Specs:
    0.8" (20mm) of sliding travel within plate to optimally balance gear
    One 3/8"-16, one M6, and one 1/4"-20 female bottom mounting threads
    Plate has 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 mounting screws, in addition to anti-twist video register pin
    2-stage quick-release system

    Excellent video! I thought finding a good explanation was going to be easy to find but all I found was crap... until this one. Thanks so much.

      I see that now! I'm all up in the facebook group like ummm...so you have a quick release plate on your tripod right....and ummm...you have a quick release plate on your glidecam...right....?....ummmm....
      lol
      So I'm buying a monopod with a manfrotto fluid head. I also have a glidecam HD 4000. I want to be able to switch between both of these quickly. Do I need to quick release plates??? The manfrotto fluid head comes with a plate but I don't know if that will work with the using the quick release on the monopod...I"m all confused.

    The visuals are right on. Makes total sense. You did a great job explaining the usage of the plate and clamp. However, (just a positive critique) you used music that was loud, but more importantly, more interesting than the tutorial. Your music selection should either reflect, perfectly, the overall tone of the visuals, OR go way underneath in order to accentuate the material on your tutorial. Hope that makes sense. Good job!

      Mark Haggerty Productions Wow, some of the best feedback I've had! Thanks. I actually wasn't too sure what music to use; I just had some free tracks stored on my computer and thought this one would be alright. But lately, I've been paying more attention to the music that I select (watch some of my later videos).

    thumb screw gets in the way of the bottom of my 5d base ha!

    • @JacobSteed
      @JacobSteed  7 років тому

      It does the same with all my cameras- Manfrotto's newer versions have a smaller screw that doesn't get in the way (keep in mind, I bought this over three years ago).

    If i have a flycam nano, a tripod and a slider. I will have to buy 1 manfrotto for each stabilizing sistem?

    • @JacobSteed
      @JacobSteed  8 років тому

      Emanuel Claudiu yes. you really just need the base but i don't think the bases are sold separately.

    won't the thumbscrew of the quick release hit the plate of the glidecam when you unscrew it?

    • @kevinoskar
      @kevinoskar 8 років тому

      same question here.. I wonder how

    • @JacobSteed
      @JacobSteed  8 років тому +1

      +Kamyaputra Iswarapranidhana It does, and it is a pain. I figured a way to work around that - I make it so that it is just tight enough to hold the plate but still be able to unscrew it without the glidecam plate getting in the way. It's difficult to explain, but if I showed you it would make sense.

      good to hear that. I strongly suggest you upload a video bout how it is done. That will help us all here who are wondering
