I do drive a Zoe though as a daily driver for work and trips around town, but for long distanc family adventures we all jump in the Espace.
The Model 3 simply has more real-world history behind it. It shows up in little things, and most definitely in the OS. The Ford needs more iterations to make the ownership experience better day in and out. 3's don't brick when charging, and the OTA updates are transparent and largely flawless. The charging network (specially in the US) is also unmatched. I'd bet a dollar Rory would have a much clearer decision if he lived with both for an extended time. Ask Tesla owners what they think after 2-3 years.
Good vid. I've narrowed my choices down to the Mach E Premium ER AWD and the Tesla Model 3 LR. Which EV would you recommend for Canadian winters (Toronto)? I'd require the EV for two child seats and golf clubs. Not intended for road trips. I would also be doing the majority of charging at home. Also, there are no EV incentives in Ontario.
Both cars are great, but in Europe in 2021 *only the Tesla will be able to go everywhere* without any stress, ie as easily as an ICE car and with the performance and comfort of an EV. BTW the model 3 is cheaper, to buy and to run since Ionity is quite expansive. Anyway, both are fully electric so both are good choices for air quality and to help fight climate change.
But the MachE is more expensive to drive for every km. And the battery pack will get mere degradation for every km. And this is not by a small margin at all. The weigh is really not nice.
Excellent comparison. One of these is probably in my future in the next couple of years. Very useful information. Thorough, but I notice we didn't get a look at the trunk of each car.
Great review. But Rory should started to: 1 - mention that Tesla Model Y is not available in Europe (thanks Elon) 2 - mention that the car giveaway is only for Uk residents. As for the result: both great cars so it’s a matter of preference. That’s why the brands offer test drives 😁
Yo that sweatshirt looks exactly like my dog, where did you get it and/or would you be willing to send it to me as a huge fan of yours cause wow, that would be dope as hell. Or don't. Either way i fuck with that thing heavy
I'd slap money down right now on the Tesla model 3 if it had more physical controls for stuff like lights and windscreen wipers*, and Android Auto. * I wonder if since you can run a games controller you could jury rig external controls to get physical buttons.
Rory keeps going on about the lack of blind spot indicator on the Model 3.. the interface shows someone over taking and highlights them in red on the screen, it's very noticeable when driving if you actually have it set up properly.. as all owners do. It also shows them approaching from around 15m away.

Another good review. I also appreciate that Rory pronounces the Ford with the proper translation. Mach- E rather than Mack-ee
Should be compared to Y now that it's available.
What about Irish viewers? We’re left out ☹️☹️. But we love AutoTrader anyway
Wow, cruising through the Irish countryside in a Tesla would be a dream. Maybe one day.
@@Tron-Jockey absolutely
Mustang Mach e looks way better, would definitely choose this in Rwd for more miles per charge ,what a gorgeous car 💚😍👌👍
I agree that the Mach-E looks better. But that's about it.
Great Comparison, ThanX!
Rory this could have been jelly against jam and I'd still click :)
Rory you are a great motoring journalist no question about that, and again a top video here.
Slightly off the motoring subject though I'd like to ask where you got that top from as I really really like it, and I'd love to buy one myself as I have a French bulldog and I think that would suit me well. Thanks in advance ☺
Why did you not take autopilot and sentry mode into account? :)
And safety
Can we change the shocks to make the road feel better?
Mach e have a lte Hotspot. Tesla does not have a Hotspot
we visited there last Oct. & it was awesome.. i've ordered the tri motor fsd ct & i can't wait for it to get here!! I may buy the S or the Y in the meantime..i got lots of solar & back up battery system as well. i love spaceX
I just don't like that tablet in the Tesla, and the minimalistic nature. Range is also still an issue for me, so I'll wait another 5 years to see where the tech takes us.
This guy is awesome! Great review mate. Knob Gang 4 Life 💯🤙
But the MachE is more expensive to drive for every km. And the battery pack will get mere degradation for every km. And this is not by a small margin at all. The weigh is really not nice.
Excellent comparison. One of these is probably in my future in the next couple of years. Very useful information. Thorough, but I notice we didn't get a look at the trunk of each car.
That's my thinking as well, wait for more efficient batteries, better charging possibilities and cheaper prices.
I wish you compared the base trim MachE to the base Model 3 here, but good vid nonetheless.
Matter of preference. The mustang looks way better in my opinion. But I think range is one of the most important things in which case the tesla wins.
Why wouldn't you compare the Mach E to the Model Y if you're going to make a point about the Mach E being an "SUV"?
If i pay for shipping to my country will i be able to enter?👀 right hand drive is perfect. Great vid as always
Why didn't they compared it with the model Y? Some of the categories the model 3 lost would be solved by the model Y
There is no Model Y available in Europe yet.
Y is not available in UK. Also the Y is a 3 with a slight raised suspension and higher roof line. Not much different at all
I'm going for the Model 3 when I get my EV....but would this video comparison been more head to head by putting the Mach E up against a Model Y..?
Model Y is not available in the UK. Hence why we didn’t test it.
I'd slap money down right now on the Tesla model 3 if it had more physical controls for stuff like lights and windscreen wipers*, and Android Auto.
* I wonder if since you can run a games controller you could jury rig external controls to get physical buttons.
Interesting. What’s the prediction for depreciation on both after 3 years?.
What's a 3 year old iPhone worth?
@@cockpiss9260 Someone hasn't looked at the price of used Teslas lately. Their resale value is exceptional.
@@ymcpa73 That might just be because the used car market is nuts right now. My 2019 Subaru Forester is worth more than what I paid for it brand new!
Rory keeps going on about the lack of blind spot indicator on the Model 3.. the interface shows someone over taking and highlights them in red on the screen, it's very noticeable when driving if you actually have it set up properly.. as all owners do. It also shows them approaching from around 15m away.
Nice video as always but I think mach-e and model y would have been better to compare with
I don't think the UK had them at the time
For a family car mustang is clear winner. Other than the fact there both Eva these two cars are not really competitors. When you guys get the Y then there is a real competition
