For you young-un's just getting started, I recommend one of the books Steve has on the shelf behind him, "The 12 Bottle Bar". It's a good way to have plenty of recipes on hand without going overboard on the amount of bottles you'll need. It's quite easy to get carried away and have too many bottles in your house.... Also, it's a good idea to pick a cocktail or 3 that you personally like and master them so when throwing parties you can present them as your "house specialty drinks" and can mix em up real quick from memory. If you can vary the main spirit behind each of your specialties it would be ideal, but mostly pick ones that you personally like.
I really appreciate how you make cocktail-making unstressful. Keep up the great work Steve and congrats on 70k!!! Also what happened to the smooth pans when you introduce the drinks? It really upgraded the videos.
Many(all) favourites in this video. All very simple to make. One twist I learned from another is for the blood and sand don’t use orange juice instead 2-3 dashes of orange bitters. Obviously not the same drink but a quick build in glass alternative. Hope to see a few more scotch drinks in the future.
Thank you for this compilation Steve! I'm a huge scotch fan but can't always keep an Islay single malt on hand... this gives me some things to try when I get bored with sipping my blended scotch. Also: I love a rusty nail but could never get the ratio quite right, & I've never added a lemon twist. I might just have to try it this week. Keep up the videos, you're awesome 😎
I’ll have to slip a few more Fernet cocktails in.. I think I did a few too many close together and some didn’t like I as it isn’t such a common ingredient.. 😌
Hey Steve the Bartender - love you channel!!! Question for you - I'm not a fan of ice - I prefer my drinks neat. How would chilling the glass or ingredients ahead of time alter the taste if any? Keep on smiling my good man - and keep on making those AWESOME beverages!!!
Dilution is a pretty important part in cocktails.. is there a particular cocktail you are referring to? The Rusty Nail? You could always prebatch it (with water) and keep it in the fridge.. serve in a chilled glass and you’re good to go.. 😁

This drink tastes wildly different depending on the style of scotch used. Recommend using a mixed blend specifically one that has been aged in rum barrels for best results, avoid single malt islays at all costs.
