      Susan I am glad there are others here in USA who are appalled at the erasing of history and also the destruction of monuments.. not only are these monuments historical but they are works of art. Where would we be without the Venus to Milo, without the statue of David without the monuments to the Roman emperors good and bad?

    • @jacquelinejohnson9447
      @jacquelinejohnson9447 4 роки тому +12

      @@judithsingh7075 I agree 100%. If you destroy history, you are doomed to repeat it. The destruction of historical monuments is just as bad as the book burning events the Nazi regime put on. The Nazi's never researched the bonfire of the vanities that occurred in Italy during the 1400-early1500's. If they had done so, they may have been less inclined to burn so many wonderful books. Probably not, but my point is they ignored the bonfire of the vanities and wound up losing WW II, which is proof history repeats itself. The political leaders in control of the bonfires all wound up out of power and, for most of them, wound up dead. Most of those statues are truly works of art. To remove something like that because it "offends" a minority group is not a good thing. Don't like them? Point out to your children and grandchildren what the problem is with these statues who depict people who were slave holders and fought for the confederacy. Let the statues remain and be a lesson on what we do not want to happen again. My opinion.

    If the Queen does not remove Harry and Meghan's titles and lets them go on trading on their royal status, I am concerned she will be perceived as weak and this will seriously damage the future of the Crown. Unfortunity the Queen cannot remove their titles. Parliament
      alone has that power. There have been calls for parliament to do so. I hope they do. It is very important that Harry be removed from the line of succession. As it stands now, if William and his children were killed, say in an airplane crash, Harry. Would become King and Meghan would become Queen. That would be intolerable.

    I’m so glad Lady C gave a tribute to the Queen.
    She is scrupulous and has never put a foot wrong. The Queen can talk to anyone, has learned to deal with any situation, even if embarrassing, with a sense of humour, I think that has got her through many difficult times.
    I know Lady C doesn’t accept the narrative in The Crown, but from watching that I’ve learned that the Queen seemed to often be rather alone, making difficult decisions and dealing with misbehaving family members, including her husband, plus self entitled politicians.
    She showed enormous strength and integrity. She was a feminist before the word was invented.

    Many people do not understand that buildings of "historical significance" cannot be altered or even given a change of name without prior approval of the historical society. This is also the way it is in Canada. And THANK YOU LADY C for clarifying to others why this IS the way! As she said, you cannot erase or change history?!!
    You can learn about it but it should never be erased!

    Lady C, I grew up in a small town in Ohio in a house that was part of the Underground Railroad. Bookcases flip around and you can go through the walls to come out to a river. So it’s about 150 years old now. And you can’t even paint the house without permission because it is so protected. But it’s not old compared to what you have in the U.K.

    I adore listening to Lady C. both the information on Meghan (loved your book) and also the history of the royals, both British and other countries.
    I would love to hear more from Lady C. on which books/biographies she would recommend for an American with limited knowledge of the royal/aristocratic history. I know she would only share books that are accurate. Also, I know Lady C. is an avid reader. Who are some of her favorite fiction/non-fiction authors.
    Would it be possible for Lady C. to share more information on the royal family jewels/tiaras? For instance what are the rules for what you can wear when and wear? What are some of her favorites and some interesting histories behind some of the jewels. I feel there could be a whole show on jewels and tiaras.
    Thanks for sharing your time. Look forward to every show.

      Rosa -F I would highly doubt he works for a living, like we do.The aristocracy in Britain for hundreds of years have lived of their inheritance , such as rents paid to them by entire towns or homes they own. In the thirties, many aristocrats had to find other ways of support if the family money was spent. He may have an occupation he’s interested in, but I doubt he lives for a paycheck each month as we do. They can live off the interest from their capital or original fortune in the bank.Or they marry someone with money.
