I danced in theme park shows and on cruise ships for several years never got to be a kid of the kingdom though, that was the ultimate goal. I had hoped they would bring them back for a big 50th castle show but…nope lol.
Every time you come out with your old movies, it never fails to impress me how much better the parks were long time ago, compared to what it is now. HAHA. LIKE 33👍👍👍
The contemporary interior used to be so nice…I LOVE Fantasia (the film) but like come on Disney, why do we have a giant Mickey fantasia shop in the middle of the contemporary, so tacky
@@DisneyDave I used to go every year in the 90s as a kid. And it was not a thing to wear Disney t-shirts nor ears. I remember getting a hat that was Minnie’s head 😆 but I don’t remember the ears being a big thing.
Does anyone know what this castle show was? Was it easter, Christmas time or just a show about the holidays in general? From someone who wasn’t alive why this video was filmed I’d love to know!
What I think is complete wild that I can’t wrap my head around is that you have 1hr 22min of video from a single visit without ever saying a single word or showing any interactions with family members. Im guessing this was a solo visit. My oldest Disney video is from 1991, but it’s more people oriented. My wife was in most every shot…. lol
There are a lot of people who are highlighting what changed, while thats true - so much has also remained the same! Thanks for sharing - this is awesome! :)
6:00 guys smoking a cig right in the crowd. Miss the days when they actually had even SMOKING areas. You serve alcohol and let people vape weed, but god forbid someone smoke a cigarette. When you have ingested 10 times more carcinogens walking through the parking lot lol
I went to MK for the first time on 2009, and even tho the 90s still look better, 2009 to 2013 was still a very good time to be there... I miss Splash Mountain so much It was my favorite attraction :(( I'm so sad that I wasn't able to go again before it closed (last time was in 2013, I'm brazilian and the prices got too expensive for us, alongside the dollar also being too pricey here)
My first visit to Walt Disney World was in 1999, obviously a few years later but still had the same vibe then, the main difference was that Animal Kingdom was a brand new park that just opened the year before.
@sashakanetani4736 characters were everywhere in the parks in the 90's and with there being so many about this meant not having to stand inline for ages
i appreciate what those that "restored" this footage were trying to accomplish, but next time PLEASE just digitize old vhs tapes. What the AI does to small text and especially faces to upscale them is absolute nightmare fuel
I don’t think Bob Iger understands how much better the parks, films, and television shows were then than compared to what is currently created. It could easily return to what was done before but the boards pride prevents them from admitting mistakes were made.
Oh he knows exactly how much better it was, this was all by Bob Iger’s design. He thinks the public is trash, doesn’t deserve any of it, and are stupid enough to never notice while he rakes them over the coals with crony marketing schemes. He was right.
These videos are just wonderful. It’s great to see so many classic rides that really helped to make the magic and it does show how the traditional magic has been lost to so much IP….
And yet there is the quick Lion King show they got up to exploit that box office. Disney has always been about using IP in the parks where they can since the 1980s. When I was a kid in the 80s, the rebranded one of the quick service counters at MK to match the Black Cauldron, which was recent at the time. In the 90s they closed Mr Toad's Wild Ride to go with the more popular IP, Winnie the Pooh.
@@MrMac1138Difference being they carefully selected IP’s back then that were proven and fit properly, they didn’t just vomit them everywhere for a promotion ad, and as a matter fact Disneyland prior to the 1980’s was 90% original and outside of Fantasyland had nothing to do with the movie studio. Walt didn’t believe in repeating his work, he thought it was creatively lazy, that’s why we never saw a Davy Crockett ride. What we got instead was Pirates and Mansion which the park greatly benefited by and are still relevant today, while Davy fizzled out long ago. The same scenario is true today for most IP’s, they don’t last.
What a great little ride down memory lane for me. Thank you for that! I do want to point out that it's not grotesquely packed, like shoulder to shoulder type of PACKED. I just don't have the patience for ignorant ppl, disrespectful children and paying $50 bucks for a hot dog, FF a soda for 2. I have not been there since 2012 and probably won't ever go back. I am now a huge fan of Silver dollar city in Branson Missouri. Christmas time is 10000000x better then Disney, Universal, etc. Thanks for letting me share
Yes folks. That was when Disney had innocence and true magic and when American people were still fit and not grotesquely obese. It was a far better Park and a far better country.
The Little Mermaid VHS cover had penis castles lol. People were fat then. They just got fatter as right wing talk radio convinced more people that eating right makes you a communist.
