I had a lot of fun with the single mega gun for quite a while, after two nerfs it was hardly usable anymore and I swapped it for a Redeemer, which was then also nerfed...I then swapped it for a paladin...and what a shame that I still have the nerfed Redeemer as a loaner. it's a real shame that they sawed this strange but wonderful hunter to pieces. I really dread to think that the main armament of my perseus consists of two twin turrets of the inferno's main weapon.
@piranhax6466Yeah... because there's a new heavy fighter coming. So you don't care about the old one anymore, there's a shiny new one! Who cares if they nerf the Ares for the Guardian? Or the Redeemer for the Paladin? Or the Corsair for no reason?
I think for this ship, the best thing to do will make it to where it can fire 125 or maybe even 150 rounds before it overheats and make the cool down about five or six seconds, personally I would go at five
As someone that uses this ship a lot the changes in weapon cooldown mechanics between 3.24.3 and 4.0 are indeed significant. In 3.24.3, the cooldown can feel like an ammo reload because it interrupts your firing sequence, especially when you need to re-aim at moving targets. This can be frustrating as it breaks the flow of combat. In contrast, 4.0 seems to offer a more fluid experience. The ability to pause briefly and then resume firing without hitting a cooldown makes combat feel smoother and more responsive. This change likely enhances your overall effectiveness in battle, allowing for better target reacquisition and sustained fire. Still need to do more testing.
In 3.24 overheat acts more like a reload. It has an 8 second pause after 177 rounds regardless of if it’s one trigger pull or multiple. There isn’t a cooldown mechanic between trigger pulls. I am guessing this is the simplified model they were referring to. If after letting off the trigger cooldown starts and it’s not a hard pause every 77 rounds, this may not be a huge nerf. I assume either way it will at some point act more like a cooldown than a reload.
I just came back to the game after a year or so and had no idea why ballistic guns would just stop firing lol. So, they overheat now? I don't see anywhere on the screen showing a heat bar to let me know when it's going to happen. Did I miss it or does it not exist?
With the test you performed, the Ares seems fine to me. I don't know what kind of easy mode players are asking for in order to be satisfied with its performance, but it's FINE.
Game Balancing takes actual Balancing ships into their intended roles. Inferno can pick off the PDC of Cap Ships. Lets not be stupid. We all knew it had to happen and expected it. The biggest mistake you can make is thinking this game will not be balanced across all ships to for a strategic reason to bring or use everything. You will not be Over-Powered. This is NOT Pay To Win.
On the other hand they just gave the 315p 1.2SCU quantum fuel (all other 300i-series remain at/got 0.7SCU) which makes it a real option for Pyro, it’s even better than the Intrepid now! 12SCU vs 8SCU cargo, dual S3 hardpoints vs the single S4 and dual S1 shields instead of a single… As I don’t play the ccu-game, if/when CIG nerfs a ship, I can always melt it and replace it with the new and ‘best’. I’m looking forward to the Guardian, but we all know they will nerf that one too in time. Personally I don’t really care anymore, I’ve melted both my Areses before. We are ways of a release so LTI and even 10Y insurance doesn’t really matter. And some nerfs turned out okay! Just don’t do the ccu-game and you’ll be fine! Cheers man o7
The huge problem with CIG is the stupidity of their changes. Who would make a Gatling cannon that overheats after a less than 100 rounds? There is no purpose to the high fire rate, so why make it? There is supposed to be a game hiding in the beautiful bug ridden mess somewhere, but it is becoming more and more clear with time that they never figured out what that game is, so they keep reinventing what they want by stomping over what they already have. Can anyone say "squirrel!"?
CIG employs lames, I have never seen such a volatile game in my 44 years. Time to get rid of people like Yogi who constantly ruin this game in their vision.
@@arenomusicAlready ahead of you, sold my 5 year old account that was concierge level. Going forward they will be lucky to get $100 usd out of me. Im waiting them out until we have an actual stable game…

At this rate, by 4.0 the ares will have the dps of a Intrepid 😂
I guess CIG saw me finish off a crippled Idris with an intrepid & thought it was good enough! XD
Merai Guardian sale is coming, what do you expect CIG to do? NOT nerf something?
The guardian is already vanguard competition.. no other ships should be done reguardless
@piranhax6466 the Ion/inferno is a heavy fighter too.
@KipKil1igan noone talks about the ion anymore.. that ship is just dead in the water

The Aries and the guardian should not be compared at all because they are both heavy fighters, but they are meant to do two different things

I think it was nerfed because they're tryna make sure the perseus is balanced and doesn't solo capital ships

Exactly like that, no bar, and you can't see the gun overheating.
The Aurora is catching up fast - LOL
Maybe one day the Ares will be good again
Definitely! It will be good once they need to sell the Ares Starfighter Mk. II
MAGA!!!!! Make Ares Great Again!!

Sub-Component targeting is the main job of the Inferno. Not hull DPS.

There is no game hidden here, only more JPEG sales
Dude. Give these craft their specialty it's obvious the Ares Inferno is an A10 give it back. Give it BACK

The guardian will be 250 that's why, who believes this bs
Called this like a week ago lmfao, CIG is so predictable
Nerf because of the Guardien incomming ???
Yes, this means Mirai Guardian is close
I got rid of mine a long time ago. It's nerf's were stupid.
Melting my Ares, not flying this trash again. All they do is nerf!
Have you melted your Redeemer and Corsair too? 🤣
yeah this game is finally dead at least, 4.0 will be the last straw for most backers
why is it 4.0 last straw?
@protoni6996 if you thought A2's over jumptown were bad wait until you're getting blown into oblivion at every outpost you land at
At least it'll be easier to sell our accounts to the new batch of pledgers!
@@arenomusicAlready ahead of you, sold my 5 year old account that was concierge level. Going forward they will be lucky to get $100 usd out of me. Im waiting them out until we have an actual stable game…
Gotta make sure those people that bought a Polaris to fly it solo can't lose to anyone when they take it into Pyro!
More likely nerf because people complain in cheaper fighters getting molly wamped by an aries
That's why they nerfed it the first time. This nerf is so you'll get upset the Ares sucks and buy the new heavy fighter instead
