That one had me drooling Stuart. The pulpo looked cooked to perfection and very well presented. One of my favorites. The whole plate looked like something you might see in a higher end restaurant. Looking forward to seeing what you order when you go back. I really enjoyed the dialogue with the owner at the end of the video. Another fantastic food vlog Stuart, I'm really enjoying them. Thank you. 😀👍
Everything looked amazing. Traditional home cooked version of the pulpo is a much simpler presentation, but potato always accompanies it. In Galicia it is called Pulpo y Cachuelas.
looked amazing Stuart. Thanks for the video. The pulpo seemed reasonable to us and the patatas bravas. We are oldies so probably would have shared that meal between us lol. Keep them coming. Gracias señor.
A great vlog, the pulpo looked amazing. Agree with some comments about traditional Spanish meals being a bit of a veg free zone, which is strange given the abundance of beautiful veggies grown locally. What I tend to do is to order a salad or other veggie dish as a starter, then I’ll quite happily eat just meat or fish as a main course
A great video as always. I order patatas bravas a lot but I have never tried octopus. I actually had patatas bravas when I was in Alicante yesterday. One thing I did notice in Alicante was the price of the menú del día was 18€ in 2 places and 17€ in another, rather expensive, especially when it is not peak season.
That looked fantastic Stuart, we have had Pulpo in Galicia a few year’s ago during a blow out lunch, now going to cook a chicken curry as we are starving after watching this video 😂
Love love this video. I have never eaten Pulpo because it’s not kosher. So I really enjoyed watching your reactions to the culinary delight. It’s as if I had been there eating it with you. This will be the closest I will ever come to eating the bounty from the Galician ocean.
Great review, thanks Stuart. Albariño is my favourite, my wife and I have a bottle of it every day with our Menu del Día. Amazingly good flavour. Patatas bravas are sort of like chip shop chips; you might think that potatoes are just standard and it doesn't really matter how they come, but when you do get good salsa, boy are they great! I've always enjoyed pulpo but it's always come chopped up and heaped on a plate - what you've got there looks incredible; they've obviously put a lot more care into presentation. Lovely meal, cheers to you Stuart.
@@stephensimpson1613 you mean that you pay the albariño apart from the price or the menu del día because an average albariño cost 8 to 10€ and im talking in Galicia on the supermarket, let alone in a restaurant.
Key Tricks for Tenderness Use Vinegar or Acid: Adding a small amount of vinegar, lemon juice, or wine to the cooking liquid can help break down proteins and keep the octopus tender. Gentle Cooling: Let the octopus cool in its cooking liquid. This gradual cooling helps maintain tenderness and allows the flavors to meld. Finishing Touches After the octopus is cooked and tender, you can grill, sear, or bake it briefly for added texture without making it tough.
That pulpo looked amazing! It looks like it could've been served at a high-end restaurant but it's just at a local bar. Almost unbelievable. And €22 is a bargain. This would've cost much, much more in the city center of Madrid.
Albariño and seafood is a match made in heaven. I love it after red prawns unfortunately I can’t eat it with prawns as my hands are filthy due to heads off and deshelling. The wine is very similar to a Sav Blanc, the background taste is slightly acidic and lemon, which matches the seafood.
Qué envidia me das! I make my own patatas bravas but pulpo is far more difficult. Need to go Barcelona to buy the octopus which makes it even more expensive. A lovely meal!!!
Stu, check around and see if you can find a restaurant that serves Black Paella. (Black from squid ink). Eat it with some Ali Oli on the side. Delicious
I watched the Netflix movie about an Octopus and since then I can not eat pulpo. They are sentient beings and are very smart. I am saddened they want to raise Pulpo in pens in Spain . They do best when they live alone and not in a group setting. It sounds like you got a deal to me. I do prefer eating more veggies than meat ,seafood or fish when I eat. I do see the restaurants in Spain seem to be more focused on meat of any kind rather than veggies and fruit. Also can you post the names of the restaurants so when we go to Spain we can eat there or at least make that choice, please.
Comer y rascar todo es empezar... Desgraciadamente en los restaurantes de Andalucía es muy difícil por no decir imposible encontrar patatas bravas pero están riquísimas
We live in Andalusia in the Almeria region. No problem here getting patatas bravas nor in Granada when we have visited there. We love this too. Great Vid Stu and that octopus/pulpo looked a dream.
High Intelligence? WOW , they might be high in intelligence on an animal scale but ...... Just another push by eco terrorists nothing more nothing less.
I just looked at their Google Maps and their "Huevos Rotos" look amazing judging from the photos from other reviewers. I think Stu should go back, to at least to try them if he manages to snap a reservation. This place seems like a hidden gem.
@@Maryann110 That makes zero sense, I am sure they cook meat and fish at home too but they order those out? If your eating out your not eating at home which means you still need a balanced meal which you don’t get in Spanish restaurants!
That pulpo! wow - looked amazing. I'd order that over anything :-)
Gracias
Hi, one of the best I've had!
@@spainspeaks Hello.I want to work as a comical artist in the Spain,in the city La Coruna...how can i work seriosly in the proffesional company?
I appreciate your 'sacrifice' you make having to eat such meals just for us UA-cam viewers Stuart. I guess someone has to do it!! 😁
What is the name of the restaurant in Madrid?
Life is truly hard

Pulpo a la brasa riquísimo
Pulpo a la gallega aún mejor !!
In Spain now. Eating plenty of great meals in Sevilla, Cadiz, and Jerez. All the old favorites but many with new takes on them. Delicious.
The Pulpo was absolutely awsome!! Love it.
I’m salivating here.. looks delicious.
I love oxtail stew xx
My grandma used to make it. She was from northern New Mexico,USA. Her ancestors were from Leon, Spain and Galicia.
Cuando te ponen la pata entera suele ser cuando está hecho a la brasa, mientras que en rodajas es cuando está cocido. ¡Buen provecho!

Stop teasing me. I had pulpo and bravas in Vigo years ago and loved it as much as you did here. Thank you.
Everything looked amazing. Traditional home cooked version of the pulpo is a much simpler presentation, but potato always accompanies it. In Galicia it is called Pulpo y Cachuelas.
Stuart the food looked very appetising. Papas bravas is one of my favourite dishes. The pulpo looked amazing too. Thank you
Ola Stu! Muy delicioso! (Especialmente el pulpo) I enjoyed the pulpo (non-grilled version) recently in Malaga too. Gracias e obrigada!
looked amazing Stuart. Thanks for the video. The pulpo seemed reasonable to us and the patatas bravas. We are oldies so probably would have shared that meal between us lol. Keep them coming. Gracias señor.
You must be enjoying this a lot. Trust me I even heard how the wine went down your throat😀 Enjoy life while it lasts👍

Far better than the octopus I had in Tenerife a couple of weeks ago.
That looked fantastic Stuart, we have had Pulpo in Galicia a few year’s ago during a blow out lunch, now going to cook a chicken curry as we are starving after watching this video 😂
Chicken curry wonderful food enjoy, do you cook desi chicken curry ? If not and you like spicy food it’s worth a try.
Enjoying all the food videos. Albariño is my favorite wine ❤️😋. You can’t beat patatas bravas with a good aioli sauce. Yum!
Very good, Stuart. However, I would not eat Octopus. Thank you 😊

I asked our local how they managed to get the potatoes better than I could at home. Their secret .. the red potatoes
We're in Madrid next two weeks and I'll ask around about red potatoes. I'll let you know!
Vino albariño en un menú del día?.
Eso es como lo de los pobres y comer merluza, uno de los dos debe estar malo.

Hola Stu. Thanks for the review. I shudder to think how much a dish like this would cost in the UK! Absolute bargain in my opinion. Cheers, John.
Very much enjoying the food videos. Since 1965 I’ve lived in Spain on and off for about 9 years. I miss the food most of all. Gracias!
Yes that's the price round here xx

If someday you go to Cataluña the best patatas bravas are from Konig restaurant. You need to try that bravas

I saw the same Netflix movie. No Octopus for me
I too watched My Octopus Teacher on Netflix and am taken aback about the thought of eating calamares or pulpo again.

wow, that pulpo was expensive.....
The bravas sauce is romesco, isn’t it?
No almonds that I know off, lots of paprika
No ,no,is salsa brava ,para patatas
I’m surprised you never tried that before in Spain ! 😊
That looks delicious if you like seafood but once again no veggies! What is it with Spanish resturants and the lack of vegetables?
Potatoes 😉🤣 They cook veggies at home so don’t often order them out 👍

Absolutamente en todos los restaurantes españoles tienen verduras y ensaladas...en todos!!
NO, el secreto es la calidad de la patata, y el cuidado en su elaboración
La salsa, también
