    My name is Florian Leitner-Fischer and I'm a computer science professor and software engineer based in Germany. I have experience both in academia as well as in industry managing a globally distributed software engineering team. In my videos I talk about programming, software development, software engineering and computer science as well as the occasional tech / gadget review.
    My mission is to help you to take the step from programmer to software engineer and to help you being a better software engineering leader.

    Hi professor, what is the effect of chat gpt in software engineering? Will it effect the new opportunities?

      For sure like a lot of tools it will change how we work, when I started to program syntax highlighting wasn’t even there yet … now we have IDEs that do static code analysis while we type and things like GitHub Co-Pilot … will we still need engineers? Yes because we need creativity and decision making of humans in the process

    Is this yet another case where a difference in titles has almost no bearing on difference in job? Thx

    One of the con the positions for embedded software are less than regular software engineer 😢

      @BinGanzLieb Рік тому +2

      what do you mean with position? In my opinion, embedded software is more complicated because of electrical and mechanical domain.

      This is definitely true but depending on the specialization of other software engineer roles it might be similar… I have also found it really depends on the region … not sure whether this will change with thinks like work from home and so son

    I am learning this embedded programming c c++ but first need I learn UML I learn from internet and books and I make experiences with broken machines.Poo programming object oriented programming and now GPTboot for big looser systems 😂

    Hello professor,
    I have a question, what is the main difference between working in domain of industrial automation and digitalisation and domain of automobile for an embedded system engineer?
    Can you make a video telling us about the two domains.
    Thanks in advance ;)

      Thanks for your comment, I’m not sure whether I have a good enough insight into automation to make a good comparison. I guess one of the main differences is the volume, much more parts are produced in automotive und automation you have lower volume products and more adjustments to the different products you build.

    Is it better for beginners to use the peripheral libraries provided by chip manufacturers when programming microcontrollers, or should they write the drivers themselves? Also, should they focus solely on the application logic or be aware of both the peripherals and application logic?

    Hallo Professor,
    I am very interested in Embedded Systems and also do love computer science. I am confused between CS and EE, which one should I choose? My goal is to work on hardware + software, in 40% and 60% concentration respectively. Which major do you recommend.
    Danke, Viel Glück.

      This was asked a while ago, but maybe it's still worth answering. As someone who came from CS to embedded, I noticed that it's WAY more common to come from EE, but both are good options. I'm more biased towards CS because I like coding more, but I never learned how to design hardware. And once you're working, I'd say any good project should have people from both backgrounds in them.
