Who else has to give it full beans up there each time you visit to see how you compared to the last attempt? One day I might ride it more calmly and take in the scenery....
- first time, 44:44 - quit cigs and halved the booze - second time got 41:01 BUT Di2 on hire bike died 3/4 way up, stuck in smallest gear - wahoo said was on for a 39:30 - kinda wanna hire a car and WALK it next time?? (as well as ride)
Just come back from Majorca, did Sa Calobra, I found the road surface was the worst on the island of all the climbs I did. Be careful on the decent as the surface can be rough. Looking forward to watching your attempt.
Hey mate, I think that climate and weather conditions also play a huge role on sa Calobra. I'm sooo much slower than you, but I went up the hill twice this year, and even tho I pushed 3 watts less, the one time was a 36:30min effort, and the second was 35 bang on. Both days I had a headwind, the second was just a bit less. Imagine going up the hill with a tailwind!
If you can lower your own time and get somewhere close to Tom’s time that’s a great effort. If you can beat his time then that’s next level. Good luck Ed…
@@edlaverack it’s a supported ride from pro cycle cafe in pp doing the classic route. Am I nervous….. yep. Will I carry enough cash for a taxi back… yes
been to Majorca 4 times but never done Sa Colobra sadly. Been up all the others (Puig, Soller, the monastery) but do they count?! had a chance last time I went in 1999, but chose a 5-6 hour ride instead of a shorter ride and doing the climb. yes, I chickened out! looking forward to watching you fly up it 🙂

Hit that like button to share some extra watts with me😅❤
Love these videos! I am keen to see how you prepare for the attempt too.

@@yorkshirebrad nice! There must be some nice walking routes down/up there too. Maybe that'll turn into the new challenge, speed walking Sa Calobra 😅
Just back from Mallorca and dipped under 40mins for the first time in 6/7 attempts.....very hard work. Pidcocks KOM is just mind blowing. Good luck.
Tenacious!! Top ride! Well done on the sub40, it’s plenty of people’s target!
I should add i’m nearly 56 so don’t give up 😁
Send it Ed! looking forward to the videos
I’ll give it everything

Looking forward to seeing you sending it up there!
You and me both!
Go and smash it, Ed, but most of all, have a fun time. Hope you get better weather than us, pissing of rain and really windy today going up Formentor.
🙈🙈
Hope the weather clears up for you Ed. Will be here till the 9th of may hopefully meet up with you to cheer you on 🚴💪
That's the only thing I can't control! You are doing a lovely big stint on the island! Lucky you!
Good luck Ed, fingers crossed for light traffic & no coaches on your ascent. Mallorca bike photos will need to up his shutter speed👏
Sadly I'll be there really early in the morning so the photographer won't be there, but no traffic either. That's what I did last time.
@@edlaverack That's a good plan, maybe Charlie can grab a few snaps.
Smash it fella. Bring it home to Wales and let's see who tries next 💪😊
WALES!
Absolutely love the birds singing!
Those are real spring bird sounds!

Going tomorrow Ed 😁we saw you last time coming down Col de Femenia 🖐 good luck 💪
So many people were coming up there as I was coming down!
@edlaverack take a gilet it as cold lol
Amazing ed! let's go!
Go get it Ed 🔨
I’m attempting a lap of the island on 4.4.24 best of luck for your time in Mallorca Ed
A full lap? Like the one the old 312 used to do? Memorable day out Craig!

Hopefully the videos from the trip will bring back some nice memories :)
Good luck bud 💪🏻
Appreciate it
Yes Ed, go smash it!
Super Exciting 💪Let's Go #EdMode 🚀
Best of luck…✊
So which day would you attack the KOM? Also on the 4th of May?
Not planned yet, watching the weather!
Sa Calobra basically shows how big your d1k is when it comes to cycling uphill pal.. haha
HAHAH
May the 4th be with you.
Hope the traffic gods are on your side 🤞🏻
Go for it
Wasn’t Pidcock paced by some Ineos teammates? Good luck with your effort to reclaim..smash it!!
No one really knows!
I'm gonna say no. Or if he was paced, they didn't last long. He is Tom Pidcock after all and 22.46 is about what you would expect.

Come and do some climbs on the mainland. Smooth roads no cars or coaches and more challenging climbs. Velefique is a stunning climb.
I've been meaning too. Never thought of heading down Almeria though!
@@edlaverack it’s well worth it
40 mins alone is very good! Sub 25 is crazy.......
Not planned yet, watching the weather!
I was there last week :) Felt good to get 170% of your time
The main thing is I hope you enjoyed
@@edlaverack Very much so :) I'll post some more pictures on the discord
A hill climb in May, talking my language Ed!
You can do it.
Bring that KOM back to Wales.
Geraint needs a go🏴😂
Exact date please. Wanna be there to see it myself
Like I mentioned, I’ll have to share up to date things like that on Instagram🙏🏼🚨
Watts x 400 💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪
Ed you do realise your gonna have to do around 16 mph average to beat it....good luck 🚴💪
Yes, and 😂💀🪫
I'll pace you for the first 50 metres if you like 😂😂😉
Doesn't Tom weigh in at about 55kg?
58 according to folks that have done number crunching way back when
He's put on weight since then Ed...he's 59kg now 😂😂
@@davestewartDWCC😂
how tall?
Mallorca is more than Sa Calobra. Cycling is more than going Up. What about the descents? Randa. Sant Salvador... Enjoy the ride ✨
100% agree. I want to explore more if I have the time of course!!
@@edlaverack Could be interesting to see your times arroud that climbs. Mine are arround 16 minutes.
