I doubt anyone cares but Barum is a Czech brand of tyre owned by Continental nowadays.
Ah ok
What does I mean if continental own it ?
Much like Kormoran is Michelins budget brand and Alliance is Yokohama's
@@chrishart8548it means it's a budget brand of a good well Respected tyre brand rather than just some nasty Chinese no name rubber
oh.
It’s weird. I’m not really into cars, I’d rather spend more on a watch than a car, but I find your videos so interesting and entertaining Matt. Keep em coming.
Thank you. I appreciate it
Oisin should pay Ratso
I am never short of impressed with Matt’s videos. Every single video is crisp, cleanly filmed and edited, very informative, and fun to watch. I loose interest often with other YT channels, but never with this one. It’s just the right balance between fun and serious. Great work Matt.
Glad you like them! Thank you
I totally agree 👍
Matt speaks in such a way that he captivates your attention unlike other YT channels. I always watch from beginning to end, I often skip other YTubers to the end product
@@HighPeakAutos
Just FYI:
Barum produces more than 21 million tyres annually, belongs to Continental AG and is one of the leading tyre companies in Europe.
(From their website)
Totally agree. Good filming, well-mannered etc.
At this point, Matt uses the phrase “I have overspent somewhat” so often it should be on a t-shirt!
I'd buy that t-shirt with a highpeak logo just over that phrase.
Like the light interiors. As a two car Merc owner where the options are basically black, black or black I'm good to see.
At 70k miles and £4k it's good for a young family. Hopefully 10-20k trouble free and a nice panoramic sunroof to amuse the kids on a long run.
Hope so
Let’s be real… it’s a Peugeot. Not gonna be reliable, but yes it’s pretty.
My last merc was a B200 in ““desert storm”” trim… I loved the beige interior! (Steppe brown exterior, post facelift, chrome pack, beige over black interior)
Xzibit would be proud. Heard you like mats, so we've given you mats over mats over mats and some aerosol paintwork that has gone matte in a video by Matt
😂😂
I'm sure the previous person who tried their hand at a DIY paint job was doing their best. 😊
(I somehow think that word was intended)
The diesel engines from Peugeot and Citroen are usually quite good, but all petrol engines from 2006 onwards from Peugeot and Citroen (Vti and Puretech) are known for severe oil consumption and internal pollution in the cilinders. So beware of that.
“I have overspent somewhat” classic Matt 😂
Here we go again, all excited to hear someone talk about a car that I have literally no interest in. I mean, WTF?
My theory is that before starting his channel, Matt took an NLP/hypnosis course and is pulling a snidey little number on us all!😋
😂
High Peak Autos is really a high end dating advice channel. The cars are just fluff to gull in the unsuspecting
NLP 🤣🤣🤣
That’s quite a lot of car for £4k. I think you definitely did it justice even though the margin isn’t great. Good job Matt 👌
Thanks 👍
I have a similar problem that many others do on here.. I watch these videos purely for entertainment purposes and not because I was really interested in a used 3008, nor that I ever will.
Well done, great vid as always.
Love to see these ‘old’ cars come back to life by someone who cares (maybe sometimes too much 💷😅)
Thanks!
I think what you do @HighPeak is excellent and much needed. Because what my wife does is buy, break, sell. ❤
I take my hat off to you Matt , you do your best not only for yourself but also your customer and the car .
You made a good job with this car, someone will get a bargain! I wish all car dealers were as honest as you.
4:48 Barum produces tyres in Europe‘s most modern factories under the umbrella of the powerful Continental Group.
Always liked the 3008, just seems so practical and this looks a good spec to, £500 not a big profit, but yet again Matt, you are doing your stuff 👍
Your mechanic ain't too bad..... any of the jobs you get done I always get charged more over 'ere..... I like those Peugeots .... Nice vid mate 👍
Matt, I think your prelinary hopeful budgeting is somewhat out. I simply can't imagine you buying a 14 year old mass produced car and then bringing it up to YOUR IMPECCABLE STANDARDS for anything less than a Grand!!. Good news is, it has turned out really nice and someone is going to have a cracking 4K car all sorted. Bravo!!
Check to see if it's got 4 wheel arches.
Then do a Car Horizontal check ✅ for servicing at the MOT.
My dad just bought this model. Although very ugly it is surprisingly practical.
It'll sell fast I think. Transformation is seriously impressive, you definitely know the right people to get the car in top condition again!
It’s already sold
@@HighPeakAutosWell deserved. Another job well done.
If it sold quickly then any profit is good.
I’ve never liked the exterior styling of these, but the interior looks quite nice.
I'll tell you what, Matt, Peugeot should be paying you commission for these videos. Despite being an older model, I thought the interior was well looked after and well spec'd. Although I counted 6 Mats, including you.
Whatever small profit you made on this, it looked great when you had the work done and will serve someone well for years to come. So even if your bank balance doesn't benefit too much, you're banking points with the man upstairs and stopping good cars getting scrapped. Win win.
Wow. I actually didn't expect such luxurious looking interior.
Love you gave your self props on those plates. I did mine. I'm not knocking you either. Measured mine up and down and didn't know you can't back those screws out if you made a mistake. Thankfully I only went in a bit. Pliers out. Every day a learning day
Panoramic sunroof is a freat idea of these. Would like to see more cars with them. Makes the car feel much bigger inside
I agree
Unless you live in a hot country.
@@davidperry3531most panoramic sunroofs have covers (I don’t know about this specific one though)
@@docdelete I not sure that would be sufficient in 40 C heat as in Australia.
You always know you have watched a very decent video when the time flies so fast as was the case on this one. Keep them coming Matt.
Nice lookin motor in black... the chap in the bodyshop did a grand job !
Tidy, low-miles... should be ok for a wee profit...
Good evening Matt, another great little car saved say you might not make a lot of money out of it but it will make someone very happy to own such a useful little car. Cheers Phil from Newark
I'm from the IOM and MOTs are still not required, and you were right with your pronounciation Onchan is said "On Cun"!
Love these videos Matt, you take a car and improve it immensely. The car looked amazing at the end. Been on your website and its not there so presume you sold it. I know not much profit but if you have quick turn around not so bad. Well done.
ive always wondered why spiders love making webs on door mirrors everytime i park theres a new web on both mirrors nex day
4:47 Barum produces more than 21 million tyres annually, belongs to Continental AG and is one of the leading tyre companies in Europe.
I have mats over mats over mats in my car, best thing I ever did. 85,000 miles and looks like new inside and out
I hope you get your asking price. I used to be fascinated with the innovative & sometimes quirky French engineering ideas not seen on the run of the mill cars, but having owned a couple over the years, not so happy with the often close & tiny pedals, or the fact that when they do need work, it’s usually costly. You often really put a lot of effort into ensuring the vehicles you sell, are in top condition - as opposed to a quick profit. Good luck with your next one!
What did you buy to gas the air con Matt? Mine is out on my car and the dealer is looking for 300 euro plus to fix.
As always Matt, you’ve rescued, and transformed another car, I hope it makes a good profit which you definitely deserve, after putting all that effort into improving this 3008 😊.
Thanks!
I really appreciate Matts sense of humour in these videos. Which is what he needs if he buys french cars. ❤
Pretty nice motor with some handy features, esp the torch and the interior looks good.
When you said “ what a beautiful day “ I was expecting a Ken Dodd joke to follow! Interesting video about a boring but practical car with tips thrown in as usual.
Ah, I suppose that wasn't a good enough profit for you, Matt, but as you often say, it's a good buy for someone and it looks hugely better... I really like the bright interior, especially with the panoramic roof!
my key from a 2008 whent limp .as you call it,, because my wife God bless her .always folded the key without pushing the button ,un saludo
Barum Tires are from Czech Republic...they are a cheap Brand...yet the Barum M+S tires are pretty good and last quite a long time.
You’re buying more Peugeots than a Peugeot main dealer at the moment and yet I bet yours are far better prepped for sale! 👍
Glad to see your love for old French cars is blossoming - I am just waiting for the day you have a Megane on the channel !
Only with you Matt, could i sit through 26 minutes of a Pegeout 3008 & enjoy it! 🤣👍
Have to say you are very good at t@&d polishing, that’s a lot of car for the money whether you like them or not.
Future tip for buying Isle of Man cars. Always do a manual regen on the DPF on diesels. I had to make sure I did a “mountain run” each month to ensure it could regen. Most of the time your only doing 15 - 20 min journeys at 40mph so they just clog up
Deals like this aren't going to make you rich but you have sorted another car for a few more years of service sure someone will take a liking to it . SL55 sounded great just the weather for open top driving!
I think a lot of people will like the light interior and the low mileage. It'll sell.
Great video, Matt, you are showing us a great view of how things are going to change in the future. The way things are going, 14 year old cars will never happen in the future, with so many electronics/touch screens/online updates modern cars will become unrepairable/unaffordable after a few years and then we will have to go to a subscription model for car ownership, like Microsoft Office. Well done.
Owned the same car for two years. Comfortable and refined with a nice auto gearbox...until I started getting trouble with it starting.
I would love for you to come and do your used car thought process and checks on my current car just to see what youd critique.
Really like hearing your thoughts on what you pick up, and you express them very clearly!
Thanks! That might be an interesting series
What would u advice on semi automatic Peugeot 3008, 2010 model?
Can you say semi automatic gear better?
Please, i need u to talk about this.
Thanks
Thanks Matt… a great video as always… it is great to understand the cost to turn a vehicle around… cheers
I've got to admit that I wasn't expecting the end result to look so good and thought you bought a wrong'un! Looked like a different car at the end👍
Another great vid Matt. Keep em coming 👍🏻
Wow! I can see exactly why they fly off the forecourt. As soon as you open that double hatch. Press the seat button. Drop that floor shelf, and then….the torch. I can just see a child’s face lighting up, and selling it to their parents 😂
Barum were made under licence by Continental, and very good tyres!
Sailun are a budget/mid range tyre, not too bad, and probably supplied by National Tyres
ngl that interior is nice, also FWIW I used to think HUD was a gimmick, but fuck me it's so good. Once you're used to having it you don't want a car without it.
Wishing you well with the sale. You kinda set the scene in the intro when doubting how long your good fortune could last with these Peugeot cars. Looking forward to your next video, as always.
Thanks! It sold a couple of days ago
@@HighPeakAutos Delighted for you. I hope there was a couple of bob left in the kitty and a happy customer with a wonderfully prepared car.
I identified the rubber mat in the front passenger side foot well to be one of a set from Wilko.
My 307 needed a CV boot clip for about 6 years running, even the 2 years after i had both drive shafts replaced.
Seems like a really practical car, should imagine it would make a good family chariot, and cheapish to run.
Barum - is part of the Continental group. It is basically the cheaper Continental tier.
Great cars these. My claim to fame, I once owned two at the same time, both blue. What exciting times! 😀
Keep the videos up mate these videos are awesome 👍
Thanks, will do!
thanks for the T-shirt mat. i worked at a peugeot main dealer when this was new, i hated it lol
12:35 yes👍
Decent motor for someone, aircon, cruise, panoramic roof, good safety etc and little depreciation. Once I am out of my costly lease vehicle... and they are even more expensive now than ever ..... I am likely going into something like this
A 14 year old car, still worth over £3000, with no real problems. Cars in the 60's and 70's went
as rotten as carrots, some of them were starting to rust from new, my dad had a contract
with Fiat to repair in transit bumps and scrapes, panels were already rusting.
I tried a similar DIY driveway paint repair on my van thinking it'd be quite an easy job... Made a complete hash out of it and made it look way worse! Definitely a job to leave to the professionals... who will now need to undo my own handywork :')
Great job on your purchase!
Matt, you put so much of yourself into these videos and youve got presentation off to a tee.
Been watching you for a couple of years and you should be very proud of yourself and the product you deliver.
I never did get thst ball thrower and ball, for the dog,you found in one of your buys,.ilwatch with intrest to see if another comes up 😂 apologies I don't explain that well.
On one of your car buys.
There was a ball and thrower in the boot left behind.
Take care bud Sam in ilkley
Thank you. I appreciate the feedback. No idea about that either 😂
Does look really nice when finished + loving the interior.
I owned a Peugeot once. Wont make that mistake again.
Love your work 👍
You can say the exact same thing about every single car manufacturer. There will always bad be ones. ALWAYS.
Another solid car back on the road honestly sorted, looks a good one too.
Love the interior colour on the SL. l’ve always thought 3008s were horrendous looking cars and had no idea why anyone would ever buy one. And yet here I am watching another of your videos about one thinking maybe they’re not so bad after all 😅 I find it really interesting to see what sort of condition cars of this age are in and how much they vary depending on how well they’ve been looked after! I always up buying my cars with the intention of keeping them forever but never do. The next owner always gets the benefit…..!
The 3008 is a nice car, pleasant to drive. My only criticism is oddly the 3008 diesel doesn’t give the sort of MPG return that would normally get from the Peugeot/Citroen 1.6 HDI power plant in other Peugeot or Citroen vehicles.
Hi Matt, what do you think of the Volvo V40? I don’t remember you ever reviewing one, only the larger Volvos. I’d love to see a video if the chance ever comes up.
Had the diesel hybrid version of this. Brilliant car
I was wondering how much negotiation you get when acquiring these cars. Obviously everyone has made a few bob down the line before you end up spending sometimes a large amount of money to make it presentable. A few quid (like £500 or so) would make the deal a lot better than it sometimes turns out. Don't get me wrong, if I wanted to buy a car and lived locally I would buy from you as your standards are well above most, if not all used car dealers. As previously mentioned on this listing, your video presentation is second to none, a real pleasure to watch.
I'm obsessed with these blogs 😅😊 !!
I love Matt's videos only problem now is every time I drive past a church I always slow and look what cars are parked outside 😂
Much prefer the newer shape 3008. Think you need to be little more realistic on the spending front Mat. Its always going slightly over !
You are right Llangefni is on the Isle of Anglesey or Ynys Mon in Welsh my family go back over 1000 years on the Isle of Anglesey a beautiful place to grow up and live , keep up the great video's Matt my dad was looking at selling his 05 fiesta thats coming up to 100k miles and i told him to put all his receipts in a binder as he has every receipt and Mot since he has owned it and always gets anything wrong like advisories fixed and the underneath sealed i told him that if he got it valeted before selling along with the receipts in a binder he would get more money being the older generation and a bit stubborn it took showing your video's before he listened 😂.
That’s interesting. Yes that’s great advice. Hope it gets more for it. I’ve got distant family on Anglesey too
Yes another Peugeot! Great job!
Hi Matt I reckon mo 21:17 re close too £900 but we hope I am wrong
Its all very plasticy but thats a practical vehicle. Perfect for a family. If my kids were still little id consider it for sure.
19:40 depends on what car it is.14-year-old Bentley costing 40 000 pounds - yeah I'd expect pristine bodywork. People who expect perfect paint on a 1 000 pound car are mad though and I have dealt with people like that.
Barum is a Czech tire brand and it's decent quality :)
Should have tried it at £4250....you can come down....and it does look very good with the interior colour.
wow Matt, you look like a Mancunian James Bond in that Merc! Love it!
Haha I wish
As much as I dislike these cars, I guess if they sell you gotta keep stocking them, keep up the great work Matt
Looking forward to the 996 video......
Hi Matt, I'm from the Isle of Man - still no yearly MOT here unless it's a taxi or minibus/over 7.5 ton. Some cars in terrible state over here!
Ah ok, I haven’t been for years
I live on a small Greek island. No MOTs or equivalent here either - unless the vehicle is used on the mainland. Shocking condition of many cars, often 40+ years old.
Cars like this never get any love. They just get ridden hard and put away wet! Scenics and Picasso were the same. Takes the screaming brats to school, shopping trips, dog to the vet, days at the beach etc etc.
U are getting to be a big Pug lover Matt!!
Well done Matt, great cars and once again great video
Thanks 👍
