Great video! Magnets made a huge difference in how the car handled! Non Magnet car was almost undrive able! Tires helped alot! Thanks for sharing! 😁👍🏁🏎
Yeah the magnets really did help, if the cars were really set up properly for non mag then they would go a lot better but as the set isn't mine I didn't want to tune the cars up. Given that this set is entry level the cars work well. If you bought a Scalextric set you don't have an easy option to remove the magnet or tune the magnet downforce. The set with the adjustable power supply and adjustable cars makes for a real progression and with expansion can grow from child to adult and also to club racing. The only downside is that there are no connected app options like Scalextric or Carrera. It is also limited digitally at the moment, it isn't a plug and play friendly digital experience. I went down the digital route to the come back to analogue racing. I really like the Scalextric ARC one and Air bases as they blend some of the digital experience with analogue.
Hey Daz, they do until they crash 😂. Got to find the limit! Any good car will go on whichever track. It helps that the scaley track has nice wide radius sweeping turns. I Designed it like that to be fast flowing. I don't think scaley track is that bad to be fair, definitely not like driving on ice like some people say. Car prep and decent rubber is important and a rubbered in track to boot.
Great video Paul real good insight into both the cars and track, certainly food for thought when considering which system to buy. Also well driven Leo 👍👍👍
Thanks Rob, I don't think any of the systems are terrible but the Policar track provides a lot of longevity. It just goes to show though that Scalextric track also performs well non mag. It is more the cars than the track in terms of design and tyre compound. A good car will run on anything. Scalextrics downfall is their chassis, wheel and tyre choice and design. If they decided to sell a line of cars with metal wheels and decent rubber they would be half decent cars. SCX now produce better spec cars in terms of motor pod, metal bearings etc.
Thanks, the garage layout is very much work in progress as need to get the pit lane sorted and do some terain etc. I still want to be able to see the cars. I am going to be treating the track soon with acf50 and concentrating on HO over the winter here. I have just got some more track. That is 5 HO tracks I have got this year and I have some nice cars too including AFX.
I have to say, I bought one of these BRZs for a friend's b-day and had him run it on my track. I was blown away at the performance of these things for the price and they look great! You and your son did a wonderful job and that policar set rocks!! Also, I'm assuming that was your BRZ in the beginning of the video - beautiful car and I'd also have it in white! Subbed to your channel!
The BRZ's were Trackfans TV cars, agreed that they are great for the price. This should be the standard other toy brands aim for in terms of price and quality.

Great review and Leo was pretty good with no magnets!! You guys going to the winter fest at Gaydon?
Not sure yet if we are going, Leo probably won't be but if I can get time off I might. 👍
