I think the clip at 0:56 was done with a miniature for a movie. The rest of it looks full-scale.
It was
@@GET-OUT-OF-LIFE-ALIVE if you look close you can see the track in the road it follows
Yupyup
Staged!
Yes, that looks like a miniature. Also, right after the 0:56 clip? The bumper falling off? That's not supposed to be the miniature. (Said just in case anyone confused it for the miniature.) The wheels are different.
Fun to watch👏! But it does make me think about the horrendous injuries that medical personnel must have witnessed, as these cars had absolutely no safety features.
Oh sure they do, its called steel lol
Most are surviving pretty well though.
Like the Horse did?? 👀
It's more like dealing with DEAD people and having to load the bodies into the "meat wagon"!
Amazing to watch these old clips people filmed on their phones many years ago, before colour was invented.
My disexlic ass read your name as something else 💀💀💀
When this was made phone cameras didn't exist. Neither did cell phones.
@@joestephan1111 Wooooosh!
LOL
At least none of them are vertical!
I'm not sure if I should give this a thumbs up.
Watching that LaSalle roll hurt!
Yep they all kinda hurt
And in 60 years someone will watch a film from today, see some car roll over you get today for a crate of soda and say "Seeing that early 2000s Lexus roll hurt."
if the title said that there were from movies and staged accidents maybe a thumbs up. BUT the clip with a model toy automatically gets a thumbs down, a removal from my watch history and a block of this channel!
That was a pretty good tracking shot rolling down the hill
@1:33 The first recorded PIT maneuver!
Not one distracted driver on a cellphone 📱
Lol...
But lots of distracted drivers smoking while driving, tapping their ash out of the window or into an ashtray. In those days, nearly every adult was a smoker.
ah heartache, that beautiful two tone Packard rolling over with Mickey Rooney behind the wheel.
Omg I hate seeing cool old cars get destroyed but at the same time this is so interesting.
Seat belts? We ain't got no Seat belts. We don't need don't need no stinkin' Seat belts...
Ford model T almost T-boned a Ford model T.
That would have been a triple T bone for your order that will be $3.30 would you like something to drink as well?

add some worchesctechirchterchiere sauce while you're at it.
How do you spell worcestershire sauce again???
I'd like some tea with those T's
Easy repair!
Scary to watch these old style cars crashing or rolling down hills, and knowing cars in those days they didn’t have any safety devices like seatbelts or any crash protection..
Most of all, NO cross traffic detection. Sad!
That '55 Chevy broke my heart
If that broke your heart, this'll smash it into small pieces. ua-cam.com/video/p9c-DYoxHN8/v-deo.html Not spam, ok.
Me too! At least it was a 4 door.
@@stevefick3919 No shame in moredoors
True. I owned a 4 door Pontiac Ventura II. Great car.
Mine too...
This video seems good for a turboflex meme.
Your car in a crash: 1:19
Turboflex car in a crash: 0:52
0:46 thank god not the horse
Worth so much in today's world! Sorry to see them wrecked, but an enjoyable video nonetheless!
If they all had survived, they would be worthless today.
0:56 was a scaled model car
I just commented the same thing before I saw yours. The rest look like they're full scale.
"What a waste of machinery."
No. 1 is an absolutely realistic accident scene 🤣🤣🤣
My favorite is when those two bumpers tap each other at 1:06 and the end of one of them comes loose from the bumper bracket! Exciting stuff!! That had to be CGI !
CGI didn't exist when these were made. I will guess that the clip is from a movie and that the bumper which fell off, had the bolts removed prior to being hit. Very simple to do. Also, I saw a pickup truck get hit at slow speed and the bumper fell off. There is a lot of junk on the roads, so be careful when driving.
Some movie bumpers didnt fall off like that..Its like the 1970's movies where car doors and fenders would fall off in a slight hit,in reality they never came off..
The same thing happens today (no CGI) when two Hyundai/Kias tap the front or rear clip!
😂@@TheOzthewiz
@@mypronouniswtf5559: But hubcaps coming off in high speed chases was a real thing…
This tool 10 years off of me watching these oldtimers get hurt

0:12 Join....The Car Crash Set
The old days when cars were sold without functional brakes, or other any other safety system.
Including unlicensed drivers. The "Wheates Box" licenses came DECADES later! I STILL carry mine to show LEO when I get lit up!
@@TheOzthewiz Wait, what! You don't pull SovCit card on the cop?
oh my god people are actually driving these
In all fairness they stood up to the abuse pretty well !
The CARS, not so much with the occupants.
This reminds me of driver's ed back in the day.
I would hate to be a stuntman back then. I wonder if that's what got the term crash test Dummies, Being they didn't have much safety features back then lol. Anyway, great video and I gave you a thumbs up.
@@LRS905 Yep !
They are called "dummies" because they don't have a clue as to how drive a motor vehicle! That term is also used for owners of Hyundai/Kia vehicles!
The early 20th century was the age of personal responsibility. It wasn’t on the car manufacturer to provide crash protection, it was on the driver to avoid getting into an accident in the first place.
LOL@@TheOzthewiz
I have to agree bud. @@timonsolus
The first clip is from a mid 1950s Chevrolet promo film called "Boxes and Balls."
That was nuts I loved it
Amazing gracias gracias Maestro
What’s even worse than this are the old photos from the 50s, when THOSE cars got destroyed.
"They dont make 'em like they used to" Thank god
The 55 Chevy did a number on the 40-something Kaiser/Frazer.
Shame on these people for destroying these rare classic cars!
For us are classics, for them everyday bullsh..I saw some of those models and they were bigger and imposing that I would've imagined
@ 1:33, proves road rage existed way back then
Yes, but a WHOLE LOT LESS gun play back then. The "incidents" would be handled with fists, mano mano!
The Packard convertible climbed a tree and hardly anything happened to it!
Excellent clips! Are these clips Public Domain? Where can they be found?
On UA-cam?
Right here.
You know, in a few decades our descendants will marvel at how we were driving down the road WITH NO OTHER CONTROL THAN AN INDIVIDUAL DRIVER at 60 MPH, nothing preventing a collision other than a yellow line and passing cars coming the other way at the same speed on 2 lane roads. They will no doubt judge this to be INSANITY!
Aucun plaisir à regarder ça 😢
Wait... Did the guy at 24 sec get hit in his privates by a tire?😮 Also who filmed these?
NO damage done, he was wearing a steel lined jock-strap!
The first stunt men right there folks, no seat belts , no safty equipment, not even a helmet ,,,when men we're men !

The pit maneuver
NOT THE PACKARD BRO WHAT THE FUCK
Everyone of those drivers is from New York and New Jersey.
I know this because, that's exactly how they drive here in Florida!
*Many cars were harmed during the making of this video
Car in ghe fourth clip? (rolls down the hill)
Yeah, beside that toy car. 😄
Sad about the '55 Chevy. Also sad about the Mopar it landed on. My 1st car was a '49 Chrysler. I guess it's no different today. People smash a Nissan into a Honda & many end up in the crusher!
there wuz sum GOOD-UNS in there.
Darn California drivers !!!
When films inspired themselves from reality...
The Humanity !!
some of these cars could take a hit better than todays cars, that crumble like an aluminum can
Yeah- don't lean on a newer car's fender- you'll probably have a $1000,00 repair (more likely REPLACEMENT) bill.
True, but sometimes the buckling absorbs the shock so the people don't get hurt as bad.
In theory.
It kills me to see those old classics destroyed
I think they were new cars back then.
They were considered new at the time
Well, good thing drivers today are more careful and don't cause dangerous situations all the time. Right?
Yeah, right, uhh huh!!
Today's driver's DO NOT cause ANY dangerous situations! It is against their religion, THANK GOD!
I don't think I saw one airbag deploy.
Well airbags weren’t required in cars until 1990s and only the USA (most cars before that did have airbags but just made it a requirement). Most cars in Canada, Japan, Europe and so on do also have airbags but the USA is the only country (that I know of) that has a law requiring new cars to have airbags.
@@misterspeed118 I think he was joking
If you crashed back then, it would simply be a skill issue 💀
@@damoshort76 Yes. Yes I was.
Airbags were a long way from being invented.
Is this movies scenes ? Because I believe there’s no surveillance cameras those days 😅😅😅
Some are movies, some are from stunt shows and a few are models. Look close you can tell that some of these are not real cars.
Did you notice that some of the cars were slot cars? You can see the slot on the road.
Which clip (time)? All I saw were trolleycar tracks.
Could not be that many cars on the road ba k then. How do you show your face after wrecking one
The cars were fast...the brains of the drivers, not so much.
In the first one, the driver showed that you don't need a helmet, a good fedora will do.
Yeah, the fedoras are now made in China, they wouldn't protect you from a flying gnat!
Jokes aside, it's from a mid 1950s Chevrolet film called "Boxes and Balls." They were demonstrating how in a wreck, the car could still drive away with only having sheet metal damage. However, it looks more like boasting than it does fact. I doubt it would be quite the same if he collided with another car of the same model in an overlap crash, instead of wrecking into the *windshield* of a *parked car.* And he probably had pillows in there.
This is early crash testing

Ya, I can see a little scratch on it too.

A slight tear on the roof ye?
Was expecting like empty cars to be crash tested, not actually like real people getting hurt. I guess people had more balks back then.
@@lurch789 _ It looks like some camera crew guys might have been injured as well in the rollover clip.
@@lurch789 His best chance is if he got thrown out, we can't tell because of all the dust. If he didn't the thrown out he almost forsure got crushed. If you roll a convertible with no rollover protection not having a seat belt is usually a good thing(not that I don't advocate for seat belts, but this is a rare case where they harm more than help).
Most of these were for movie stunts
Just a bunch of Hollywood stunts.
This is painful to watch 😳
Cool but the music. Better muted.
They dont make them like they used to
Not a real car crash at 0:57
Did you notice something? Almost every one of those cars would have been driven home. Any car today could be totaled by a stiff breeze.
Yes, but NOT by the person driving at the time of the crash. He would be going somewhere else.........like 6' under ground. RIP!
@@TheOzthewiz I don’t think so. I once hit a telephone pole with a 1976 Mercury without a seatbelt doing 40mph and walked away unharmed. I once t-boned a 1977 Delta 88 with a 1974 Pinto and walked away with a bloody nose. Cars of yesteryear were built stronger with more plush interiors. That’s what cushions the blow. Today’s cars are built cheaply with plastic interiors. That’s why they use airbags and people still get sent to the hospital or the morgue.
Cars today are not designed to be repaired by the owner or a small local garage after a crash. Only by the manufacturer, if at all.
@@timonsolus totally, cars today are disposable.
@@fredfreed2956 - You sure do a lot of driving into objects.
These cars would be quite valuable today, then again, today the cars are worth more because there fewer of them, so, nevermind.
