    Michelle, lovely collection. My Mother recalls going to the movies back in the 1930's and 40's. At intermission, between the double feature, the theatre manager would draw lucky numbers from the torn ticket stubs of the attendees. The winners were called on stage to claim various carnival glass pieces , and the grand prize winner of the evening would receive an entire set of dishware to take home! Such a wonderful memory for a young girl. TFS.

    Thank you - thank you for talking about carnival glass! It's so charming. I have a water pitcher, and a fruit bowl that's been in my family for over 100 years. I remember the original owner - my mother's Aunt Dena (1886-1965). This video brings back memories. Bless you!

    Your slipper from Fenton is a cat slipper. If you look at it from the front, there is a cat's head at the top front of the slipper
    My father designed glassware for most of the companies, he has a Daisy Button patterned punchbowl set in the Smithsonian.

    It's like a stroll down memory lane! Or at least my mother's (and sometimes my own) cabinets. I love carnival glass too. I had been thinking of doing a video of some of my pieces but I don't know anything about them. I'm always impressed about how much that you know. Thanks for sharing.

      I got them all in the last few hours of an estate sale about 5 years ago. They were $7 each. From what I can tell, they are the really early ones...1910. I'll see what I can put together. I'm off to the flea market tomorrow, and Friday is garage sale day. So much fun coming up. FYI, I bought a turquoise Amish butterprint 444 bowl for $6.48 at Salvation Army yesterday. Working at getting some dark marks off it. It will be in my next video.

    Hi Michelle,
    Love listening in to you. Calm and knowledgeable and I learn so much!! I have recently started thrifting and I am having such a good time. I'm not reselling, just to add to my own collections. I live in south Florida and the selection here is slim. I would love to try some of the thrift, vintage and antique stores in your area.

    I want to say that something wonderful I have learned from you is to buy a piece even if it is supposed to be part of a set - and then you might find the rest of the set later. I did that with some small blue bowls and at one store I found two, then a week later at another store I found another two! I wanted four - got it. thanks

    Wowsers, you know a lot about glassware! This was very informative. Most of your items seem to be around $15 in value, do you charge the buyers for shipping? Im interested in what kind of margin you have there. I imagine the cost to ship those probably averages the same as their value. Especially for priority so you get the insurance. Neat stuff! I subscribed.

    • @thrifting101...identifybuy3
      @thrifting101...identifybuy3 7 років тому +1

      Thanks for subscribing :) The fact that they are all around $15 is mere coincendce...most of that carnival glass is pretty common. I do charge for shipping. I try to ship flate rate whenever possible so I can pack the hell out of the box...one cost.....I try to get atleast 3xs what I paid for items...sometimes I get much more...sometimes I don't...lol...Once in awhile I ship free and just add the cost of shipping to price of item...some people seem to prefer that!!! Also I like to "bundle" items so people get more for there money when shipping as you know shipping cost is outrageous! :) Michelle
