There is an historical tradition of mothers resting generally 40 days after giving birth. Labor and delivery is such a holy and miraculous event. Taking the time to rest is such a good thing. Congratulations to you and your family!

It was wonderful listening to your birth story. You two are beautiful. In regard to birthweight, protein is a critical piece for sure, but just adding another week or two (37/38 vs 40) to your pregnancy increases baby's weight too.
As a birth doula and Bradley advocate, I'm so glad you were eating high protein with your intermittent fasting. God bless you, and your encouragement here on UA-cam

Babies take what they need! I had pretty bad vomiting with all 3 of my pregnancies and all were healthy with a healthy weight. The 3rd being 10lbs 3 ozs! And probably the most vomiting with his pregnancy. So I'm a firm believer that God will carry you and your baby through even if your sick or aren't able to eat well.

I’m not sure if you read the comments but I’m currently reading the Bradley book for the first time and I would LOVE a video on the Bradley method and how you’re able to relax through it. Yes, I’m reading it but I’m such a visual person so I’m scared I’m not gonna catch on.

That is so amazing! I just had our 5th baby in may and she was 9.5 pounds! I also upped my protein in this pregnancy and ended up birthing the exact way you did. It was like an instinct, praise the Lord I didn't tear very much 🙏 I am so thankful for that. Wow, this whole podcast was just spot on with my life right now, I enjoy watching your podcasts. The talking is probably stemming from the change ❤ As well as they might be taking it/adjusting, they have to process it somehow. Talking incessantly = craving connection. Tender hearts are eager/desperate to ensure things are secure when change happens, and that all is well in nuance. ❤ Congratulations!!

Oh I feel better now because my husband always holds my babies for awhile, too! After pushing, I'm usually on my hands and knees and feeling weak and out of body. So I have them give my husband the baby and I "relax" while I birth a placenta and get stitched up lol. Then, after 20 minutes or so I usually say "Where's my baby??"

  • @dianewilson2330
    @dianewilson2330 Рік тому +1

I understand the not wanting to hold your baby right away! My 3rd birth was a water birth. The midwife tried to hand me the baby but i felt so weak like id drop her. I kept saying no no no but she plopped the baby on my chest. I was freaking out that i didnt have the strength to hold her up and the baby would drown until my husband came and put his hands on her and promised she wouldnt go under.

So I have natural birthed all of our babies!!!! Except this last one I found the book supernatural childbirth by Jackie mize and stood on so many scriptures and worshiped and got almost everything I prayed for out of that birth it was miraculous. During pushing there was NO pain! All Glory to Jesus!

Congratulations, Elisha and Katie! God bless all of you. :) I do love seeing how the older children are with the newest baby. Oh, I love Meal Train! The ladies at my church do that and it is SO helpful. We have a rule that we must just drop it off and not come in, which I think is needed. :) And something else that’s thoughtful is getting small gifts for the older children (toys or crafts) to keep them happy and occupied while the new baby requires lots of time and attention.

Congratulations!! Thank you for sharing your story and how amazing it is you’ve had all home births! I’ve had 5 inductions with epidurals and 1 home birth. I loved my home birth! I’m expecting #7 and planning another natural birth but in the hospital. I feel like the Lord is leading me to go with home birth again but I’m almost 30 weeks now.

In the 20ish weeks I also switched to a high protein diet because my insulin was high when testing a with glucose monitor. Eating grass fed beef, eggs, cheese, salt, bacon, and fresh fruit helped me feel so much better! This was my 5th baby (10 year age gap) my weight gain was less but baby weigh was higher just like Katie experienced. Large high protein meal when I first wake up REALLY helps with emotion post partum. Also, I still have a breastfeeding body but my weight dropped down to my average pre pregnancy weight.

I gained almost 50 lbs w my first she was 7.06, my second I was sick more and didn’t have much of an appetite, craved healthy things like carrots sticks and steak, didn’t eat a whole lot and had an intermittent fasting lifestyle that was completely safe. I lost 25lbs while being pregnant with her and she came out at 8.13! I was so thankful because I prayed that I would not gain as much weight as I did with my first, I’m only 5’3 so any weight gain really shows😅
Congratulations on a healthy baby boy 🎉

Hi! Eggs and dairy products (Greek yogurt, cottage cheese!) are really good. And also lunch meat ( esp turkey) if you can tolerate it. And then sipping on bone broth and adding collagen to drink is an easy way to get more protein. Hope this helps!

This was the craziest thing in the world to me. My first pregnancy was not all that great and I was super duper sick the whole first pregnancy and that's when I ended up having the c-section in the hospital and that's a whole horrible story. But that didn't insight us to research our options. Anyway, my first baby was 5.5 Our next baby was 6.12 and my last baby that I had zero interventions whatsoever and the best midwife ever! Was 9.11 and 22 inches long! About a week over my EDD.
To say we were shocked would be an understatement lol
And she was the best nursery ever! Best postpartum ever as well.

Piggy backing on your intermittent fasting during pregnancy: people around me (not my mid-wives) were very concerned when I remained a vegetarian while I was pregnant with my first child. A lot of family and friends thought he was going to be very small when he was born. He weighed 9lbs 3oz! He never even fit in newborn clothing. No one was the slightest bit concerned when I remained a vegetarian throughout my next pregnancy. 😊
    Congratulations on baby Lionel!

Is it ok that my husband and I don’t want my in laws visiting for the first month after giving birth? First time mama here, going to be delivering the baby in my home in December and it just sounds so amazing to my husband and I to be totally alone with the baby - other than my mom who my husband and I want here for the labor. We are so introverted and want a lot of quiet bonding time alone as a family, cuddling and bonding with our first baby just a few weeks before Christmas. I’ve started to feel guilty because I guess I’m realizing a lot of people actually choose to have their in laws come so soon? Is there something wrong with me because I would not enjoy that at all? 😅 I would feel so incredibly vulnerable having guests when I’m so new to parenting and trying to recover from giving birth for the first time. Literally all I want to do is just snuggle up with my baby as soon as they arrive, and I don’t want to share them so soon with others right after they’re born! But the fact that I want to wait awhile before having my in laws over is making me feel like a terrible daughter in law now that I know most people have them over so soon. 😣

Currently 27 weeks and have been intermittent fasting since the first trimester nausea disappeared. Everyone does it just by sleeping every night lol. People just criticize if you set up a window like 7/17, 8/16. It gives your digestive system a break and that's incredibly helpful during pregnancy. You still eat the same amount of food, but get that break and way less swelling!

When I had my third I would go to bed as soon as all the kids were asleep. The verse reminded is how he gently leads those with young.

Praise God for His many blessings with this birth and period. Thank you for the update with your IF , it is helpful to know that it worked out, that your midwife knew, you had done research and ultimately, you and your baby are healthy. ❤

Could you do a more in depth video of intermittent fasting during pregnancy? I had been considering it but everywhere on UA-cam people said no don’t do it (so I didn’t) but it was definitely on my mind
