Seen Kneecap in Derry a few years back in a bar and they were class craic. Been to their bigger shows n they mind everyone from their small shows. So happy for their success.
I'll second this, I've seen them twice in the US now. The shows are lovely and they put in the effort to chill with everyone that stays. Great guys, great performances, and I'm too happy they've had two sold-out tours in the past 8/9months. They deserve success
Most of the lyrics are in the description of the original video, but the last verse is not there. Here is my transcription and translation: Éirí as do cheann, caith do chloigeann In airde ar bharr na dtonn, Tuigm go bhfuil an saol trom agus tionchair ann But we've got once chance and then it's done, So bí thú féin, speak your pain, and receive the love, Don't let the cunts get ya down And surround yourself with ones that miss ya Tag soicind, tóg anáil, ná gabh níos gaiste, Is creid go gaingean go bhfuil an saol seo duitse Which I translate thus: Get out of your head, throw yourself Up on top of the waves, I know life is heavy and full of significance But we've got once chance and then it's done, So be yourself, speak your pain, and receive the love, Don't let the cunts get ya / down And surround yourself with ones that miss ya Take a second, take a breath, don't get caught up, Don't doubt it - this life is for you
Next time you listen to Kneecap - have the lyrics next to them. They mainly speak Irish but it does kinda sound like ur having a brain aneurism if you only speak English. Like, ur trynna hear thru the accent and that means you don't hear when they speak Irish, you just think you misheard some of it.
Banging tune. He’s singing in Irish and I hope you will understand it too one day or at least recognise it. Arctic monkeys bass player. Grian form Fontaine’s DC featured. It’s a mix of Irish and English. They gonna be massive
Perhaps the English language is the last oppression. I am glad to live in Conemara where establishments have signs saying, “Irish spoken, English understood “
@@COUNTYGAINS Basically during the Erica Cody rubbish, where a good chunk of the crappy Irish music scene were trying to cash in on Versatile’s downfall, Kneecap also tried to. But what makes Kneecap’s attempt scummier, is you were once able to actually find tweets and posts going back to 2018 of Kneecap being mates with Casey, Evan and Alex. Kneecap even asked Evan to produce a song for them, and to do a tune featuring both acts. Kneecap also supported Versatile during a Belfast gig in a club called Voodoo back in 2018 as well. And Kneecap were literally booed at first, and Casper stood up for them. There was also multiple pictures of both groups together and one with Costello of Street Literature. And then when the shit hit the fan, Kneecap burned Versatile and tried to steal the slot for the Snoop Dogg tour. The Kneecap page used to have a photo of both groups, and Móglaí Bap used to have a photo of himself and Casper at one of the festivals, but both have been scrubbed from the internet. There’s also a photo somewhere of Móglaí and Mo Chara at Versatile’s 3Arena gig back in 2019, and that wasn’t long after the controversy first started, so that means Kneecap were fully aware of the content and jammed with it. But Costello and Dania, who both supported Versatile from the start, are only two of the three acts to have supported Versatile who feature on Versatile’s only studio album. However, I did see a comment from Versatile’s manager saying that there’s no bad blood between the two groups, especially given the fact that plenty of other artists who came out against Versatile also seemed to have a change of heart.
i get both, often not putting captions is on purpose! as a Canadian, a lot of French Canadian channels and music excludes les traductions en anglais because it wields a power and stands on it's own.
I was born to Irish parents in NYC and spent my summers in Ireland with relatives, and there was a time I could understand Munster Irish, but you go a few counties in any direction and the Irish is different enough that I could only catch every few words, so I don't blame you not understanding their Irish as they speak thick Ulster Irish. Either way they're nasty and all of their songs are bangers.
Seen them in Newcastle (UK) 🙄, mint gig and met the bastards after, pretty sure they’ve been chattin away as Gaeilge since they were born, so ultra fluent. Big love man 🙏☘️
@@COUNTYGAINS What's so funny about this is that "Mo Chara" is a perfect drug dealer name. Garda: "Where'd you get the drugs?" You: "Mo Chara." Garda: "Don't smart arse me, who was it?" You: "Mo Chara, really." This fits, because a bunch of their first songs were about drug life in the North. (3CAG, their independent album, stands for MDMA: "trí chonsan agus guta" or "3 consonants and a vowel." )
Ah yeah I was looking for this comment. That it wasn't the Curragh, but mo chara. (also the Curragh is in Kildare, not Tipp, but we'll let that one off lol)

love that mate! Im from the city so obvs not hugley spoken in the city only a little bit!
I initially was biased towards these lads based on how they treated Versatile. But I love both equally, for totally different reasons.
What happened between Versatile and Kneecap? How did they treat them? Never head of this!

north of ireland
North of Ireland, not Northern Ireland... I've learned my lesson from when I made that mistake a few months ago randomly in Budapest 😅
The lads are all Irish. and yes half they rap in Irish....its Northern Irish
Love that! 🇮🇪❤️💪
Mo Chara = My Friend
I knew that!! Had a brain 🧠 freeze
