I've had my most success raising whiteworms the original way but I wasn't obverse to trying new methods (coir, the "room temp whiteworms", etc), to see if they were feasible and productive...they weren't for me either. Thanks for putting this out there to save others from wasting time testing it out.
I had similar results using pot scrubbers. Yes, the worms survived and yes, they did multiply but not in the numbers that would make it worthwhile. I eventually abandoned white works entirely - I had a mite infestation and tried everything to get rid of them but to no avail.
Thank you for the info, Have you tried to put half the amount of bread and put the yogurt and yeast on both sides of the bread for the worms to consume the whole thing in the 2 or 3 days?
I'm Interested in some White worm and grindle worms culture. I'd like to purchase some from you. I've got some from. Other people but they aren't grindles...but micros. Which has costed me time and money already.
Thanks for sharing!! Did you use straight coir or was it a "mix" (like the other tray). I wonder if straight coir is too moisture-retaining for them without the perlite and vermiculite? Or maybe the little bit of fertilizer in Miracle Grow helps something?
Si es yogurt sin sabor y pan es suficiente la levadura es algo extra y si notas las tapas tienen unas esponjas pues las esponjas estan tapando los agujeros actuan como filtros para que les entre aire pero la esponja impide que los gusanos escapen
Is there an alternative to using whole wheat bread ? Also this question is just due to my inexperience. Is there worry for disease from feeding white worms?
The worms themselves are not going to spread any disease. If the collecting water is dirty or milky, then rinse it well. That is where any problems would come from.
It's wormy bread time!!
All I have to do is get the bread out of the freezer and they 'appear'!
Thanks David! I always enjoy learning from you
Buenas noches disculpa tienes white worm
coconut coir doesn't work well, but cocopeat had great success.
Fantastic information. Thank you.

Utilizas yugurt natural, pan integral, y levadura en polvo. Y una pregunta los envases no les haces perforaciones.

Any kind of bread will work. Try to stay away from bread with corn meal in it. Mine do not seem to do well with corn meal.

Any new method to kill mites in whiteworms?
would you like to see my method ?
