So fortunate to discover Matthew and the Atlas. It came over the speaker at a starbucks....even barely being able to hear it....i HAD to shazam and find out who it was. It was captivating! --- Why are these guys not HUGELY POPULAR YET? I've been listening to their albums for at least nine solid months now! (like 4-5 times a week...every week for 9 months....and I STILL LOVE IT ALLLLLLLLL)
+Rita Winchester Glad I'm not the only one here because of Hannibal. :) I heard this in a Hannigram vid and was like "oh my God, this is perfect for them!" And yeah... never gonna be over the series finale. So beautiful, but it hurts so much. :'(
[Verse 1] I saw you in my mind when I was younger And I grew older, and I saw you still You'd stay close to me sometimes behind my shoulder When I was weary, trouble would come In my last defense you tried to warn me I did not know you, you were a demon to me Your presence, it was a fear that lived inside me It grew around me, then you would appear [Chorus] Deep below the earth I might have found you High above the tower I could not see Deep below the earth I might have found you High above the tower I could not see [Verse 2] I was dead and I was dying at your doorway I did not see you, you did not appear And between the years, I might have come to know you But I don't own you, that much is clear [Chorus] Deep below the earth I might have found you High above the tower I could not see Deep below the earth I might have found you High above the tower I could not see [Bridge] I was afraid someday you'd return Unchanged at my door as you'd once been before The flutter of fortune or a bringer of gloom Out of the darkness and into my room
I saw you in my mind when I was younger And I grew older and I say you still You'd stay close to me sometimes behind my shoulder When I was weary, trouble gone In my last defense you tried to warn me I did not know you, you were a daemon to me Your presence, it was a fear that lived inside me It grew around me then you would appear Deep below the earth I might have found you High above the tower I could not see Deep below the earth I might have found you High above the tower I could not see I was dead and I was dying at your doorway I did not see, you did not appear And between the years, I might have come to know you But I don't own, that much is clear Deep below the earth I might have found you High above the tower I could not see Deep below the earth I might have found you High above the tower I could not see I was afraid someday you'd return And changed at my door as you'd once been before The flutter of fortune, the bringer of gloom Out of the darkness and into my room
I found this song after listening to a list of Brianna Lea Pruett songs. I thought this might have something to do with her as it followed hers. I love this song! . One of most wonderful songs I have found in a while. Maybe Brianna sent it to me from above,. Or maybe my angel bride Brenda sent it to me. She passed away almost a year ago. Brianna in Sept. No matter. Wonderful.
I have only just discovered this group. I was listening to ryan adams and this random playlist of quiet sad/indie folk came up, curious, I clicked on it, no regrets
This is literally the most haunting and disturbing song I've ever heard. Accidentally came across it in July when I was seriously ill with Covid. Have listened to it untold times since. It dwells in my subconscious and I hear it in my head continuously. My heart breaks for the singer because of how he was so traumatized and lived with it for years. The music is like nothing I've ever heard. I equate it with a horror movie yet it is so beautiful I can't escape it. Almost obsessed. I've prayed for the singer and so long for him to be set free completely from the emotional stress that this event has held him in bandage for...for so long. What a horrible thing to happen to someone at such a young age. Glad I found it. Never knew any song could have such an impact on me.
Lost this song for years and couldn’t remember the name or the lyrics other than it had the phrase “you were a demon” and the song talked about a doorway. Found it by just searching “you were a demon” song lyric. I feel like an idiot.
I saw you in my mind when I was younger, and I grew older. And I saw you still. You'd stay close to me sometimes behind my shoulder, when I was weary, troubled (gone?) In my last defense you tried to warn me, I did not know you, you were a demon to me. Your presence it was a fear that lived inside me, it grew around me, and you would appear. Deep below the Earth I might have found you. High above the tower could see, deep below the Earth, I might have found you. High above the tower I could not see. I was dead and I was dying at your doorway, I did not see you, you did not appear. In between the years I might have come to know you, but I don't own (know?) you, that much is clear. Deep below the Earth I might have found you. High above the tower I could not see. Deep below the earth I might have found you. High above the tower I could not see. I was afraid some day you would return. Unchanged at my door you watched me in before. Sweater(?) of fortune and the bringer of
Fear. Out of the darkness and into (something) I was afraid some day you'd return, unchanged in my door you watched me in before. The (sweater???) of fortune, the bringer of fear, out of the darkness.... Some of the lyrics are probably wrong because I just wrote them down as I heard them. Sorry. :)
Watch the trees between the mountain as the song plays.
Bagelboy615 Solid point - was thinking more like a "mesa" than a mountain, though.
Never noticed tell u said so, wicked dude!
Came from Netflix "Bloodline" Season 1 Episode 5. Just a few words of the lyrics, and a few chords and I had to find this song. Thanks for posting!

This song has a real way of making you feel optimistic for the unknown.

It’s magnificent!

Dzięki Randall :)
excellent song. got me through some long drives home
Eu vi você em minha mente quando era mais jovem
E eu cresci, e eu ainda vi você
Você ficava perto de mim às vezes atrás do meu ombro
Quando eu estava cansado, problemas viriam
Na minha última defesa você tentou me avisar

I can't decide if this song represents Elijah Mikaelson and his inner demons, or Elijah and Klaus...or is it the same thing?
Where can I buy this (other than the vinyl album on their website). It doesn't appear to be available on iTunes in the US. =(
tg
The song is not in Spotify is it?
Here from Bloodline
What is the meaning of this song? sounds like anxiety or depression conquering song
Yes I translated it to mean depression, it makes me cry but still love the song !
It’s about what happened to him through his life and the demons that followed him and how god helped him
Same Belters getting their shit kicked out of them brought me here.
je konaissais pas mais c bien kant meme
its kinda sad that a song like this gets half a million views and the mumble rappers gets millions
Can someone tell me the lyrics?
I saw you in my mind when I was younger, and I grew older. And I saw you still. You'd stay close to me sometimes behind my shoulder, when I was weary, troubled (gone?)
In my last defense you tried to warn me, I did not know you, you were a demon to me.
Sweater(?) of fortune and the bringer of
Fear. Out of the darkness and into (something)
I was afraid some day you'd return, unchanged in my door you watched me in before. The (sweater???) of fortune, the bringer of fear, out of the darkness....
Some of the lyrics are probably wrong because I just wrote them down as I heard them. Sorry. :)
Thank you very much
How lazy are you? You're literally in front of a computer. Do it yourself.
