    Hey Gary
What time of day was this? What would you recommend as the best time to get there for swimming? Also, is it easy to locate? Free entrance and parking? Thanks!

You will have to check the tide timetable for uluwatu this visit was during high tide, sometimes the beaches in uluwatu can look horrible during low tide as the ocean goes right out. Entrance is free Parking for motorbike was 2,000idr. This is a really beautiful beach and ocean.

It was not that clean when my nephew and I went. There were tiny shacks, that were rotting away, lots of litter on the beach that must have been washed up eg plastic bottles, flip flops, aluminium cans, twigs etc, so no idea when this beach video was taken, but we were there MARCH 2024. Furthermore, these beaches are no good visiting if you're elderly, have heart problems or lung problems, because you have to walk down about 80 steep steps to access it, and then return that way. I was exhausted in this heat and having asthma. Uluwatu is similar too. Walking down steps through ruined poverty stricken points. We made the mistake, going so early because the tide was in so hardly saw any beach. Ultimately, I think these are just Tourist traps and scams for you to visit the shops and restaurants in the area.

This is one of the most beutiful beaches in Bali and I visit this beach regular and have never experienced what you are describing. From time to time especially in the wet season litter and wood can wash-up on the beaches but they usually clean the beaches daily. Yes many of the beautiful beaches in uluwatu area can be a little bit difficult to access but I personally do not find Thomas beach to difficult. Sorry to hear Thomas beach did not meet your expectations😃. You must check tide timtable before visiting any beaches in uluwatu area as it will make a big difference to you beach experience at all beaches. I do not personally agree with you that these are tourist trap areas as I personally have never had anyone pushing me to buy something or being to bothered by anyone at many of the beaches in this area of Bali.

@@balibygary9718 well it was low season, and I can assure you, they hadnt cleaned up the litter and wood. Thanks for advising me to check the tide timetable. We will do next time we visit.
They don't push you into buying anything, but if there's no beach to visit, and people have specifically visited the area, then they don't really have any choice but to buy food or drink from the restaurants.
I'm sure one place was charging 100K for a particular reason to see the views too.
