I have a new M.2 WiFi card. I was hoping for clarification on the cables that came with it. One clearly goes to an external antenna, the other merely looks weird. Probably I am supposed to crew it down somewhere.
question? I don't know much about pcs but I'm having my WIFI card removed, are m.2 WIFI cards also include the Bluetooth? or is that part of motherboard?
I was trying to install an old M.2 AX200 I had lying around into a spare parts build and couldn't work out why it wasn't fitting. The issue was that apparently M.2 has many different keys. It needs to be specific key for Wifi, which is E or A, and most motherboards don't have this. The ones on my motherboard were M key. You can actually see on the module what keys it needs, there will be A and E. You can check your motherboard manual to see which keys it accepts. The E key module actually fit into 1 of the M key slots(bad M/B build quality), but the PC wouldn't power on at all.
Yes, M key is for SSD, if your motherboard doesn't say that have Wi-fi it will not have the M.2 key A+E. However, you can buy an adapter for M key to A+E and it works great. I just installed a Wifi card with that and is better that any USB adapter.
