  • Rodrigo y Gabriela talk about the NX Series Acoustic-Electric Nylon-String Guitar, the fruits of a 12-year relationship with Yamaha based on music, art and the search for that perfect amplified nylon-string sound.
Rodrigo y Gabriela are a powerhouse acoustic guitar duo who got their start in Mexico, busked their way through Ireland and now fill stadiums around the world.
    About the NX Series:
Yamaha NX Series nylon-string acoustic-electric guitars were designed to satisfy the needs of both nylon-string players in search of superior amplified sound and electric and steel-string players seeking to add new tones and textures to their creative palettes. While all of the guitars in the NX Series sound great when plugged in, NX3 and NX5 models incorporate the proprietary Atmosfeel pickup system, which maintains the instrument’s unparalleled sound quality even at full performance volumes. The NCX model guitars have traditional nylon-string neck profiles, while the NTX models have neck profiles that will feel familiar to non-nylon-string players. Both models feature contemporary body stylings.

Ha, I came here while researching Acoustic Guitar Pick Ups that can handle me beating on my guitar. My Martin starting buzzing after a year but my old J45 Gibson is solid as hell. But it doesn't have a Pick Up. I saw Rodrigo Y Gabriela last summer and she was the only guitar player I've seen who beats on her guitar like I do in a live concert setting. I guess I'll keep looking. LOL

Just received new NTX5 and i gonna send it back :( The battery holder vibration problem is worst than on my NTX3, triggering it even on playing single notes, not only when doing percussions on body. I'm very disapointed, i think it's a conception default on NTX 3 and 5 series.

Anyone tried the ncx5? I own a ncx900, and I want to move to the ncx5, heard great tone. Just I want to make sure that the neck is same shape and comfort, cause the ncx900 is super versatile and “fast”, low action and that’s what I need. Thanks to anyone that helps (I can’t find a shop where to try that myself)

On NTX3, battery 'holder' is moving and makes some noise when i do percussions on guitar :(
I bought NXT3 when NTX5 was not avalaible yet, and i won't give a try at NTX5 for this reason.

@@ippe78 I'm talking about nTx. The nCx3 we bought is OK thought battery holder is similar to ntx one.

@@ippe78 i had read it, unfortunately i've never played on previous NCX serie, i think shape (body and neck) is the same though.
What i can say is that neck is thinner than on classical guitar (made possible by truss rod if i'm correct) and that frets design makes strings sound very sharp (this is really good for trills for example) but make the 3 bass strings to be used faster. I'm not pro and i'm not good to deeply test guitars so i can't tell more.
Seems a good option to buy this guitar, but i couldn't tell if it's a good upgrade from ncx900 to ncx5, especially if you don't play plugged or if you can't test the guutar in a shop (online shops let you free return guitars during 14 days though, at least here in France)
