Absolutely amazing video just got a ecobee and was trying to figure out what all the settings meant you answered every single question excellent video!
Very professional! Your voice is clear, relaxing and easy to understand. No background noise, and no rushing through the tutorial. If only others on youtube would learn from you.
Thank you for taking the time to record this comprehensive and detailed video on the programming of this thermostat. Your explanation and very calming baritone voice just saved the new Ecobee thermostat from being crushed by the powerful blow of a hammer.
Thank you so much. Just moved into a home with it. Burning up yesterday afternoon. Overnight the temperature dropped but more so today. My joints couldn’t take the cold anymore. I came to UA-cam in desperation. We thought the fire meant “warmer weather” and the snowflake “cooler weather.” It may sound stupid now, but it made sense then. The fire is for turning on the heat … Thank you so much!
Excellent video; finally somebody with knowledge and clarity; the manual is completely useless;I’ve been begging my husband to get our old thermostat back but now we don’t have to thanks to you.
Great video! You explained everything very well. I have had my ecobee for 4 years now and it just recently started acting weird. I turned it off of auto and seems to be working fine. I have the heat set at 64 and so far so good. You clarified some things I forgot about. Thank you!
Thank you for sending this information. What do I do if I want the same temperature all the time. I am a retired senior and not to good with this fancy thermostat, I miss the old Honeywell one! But this eco bee came with the house! Thank you in advance!
I have this same ecobee and I found leaving my ac on 76 degrees and home and holding keeps my home around 75 degrees and my energy bill is low. Thanks for posting this video.
Very straight forward and useful however I have a question re Heat selection from a Heat Pump or the furnace. How do you select on the Thermostat to use only the Heat pump or the Furnace depending on the outside Temp . Even though this was a great video I can’t wait for a voice activated Thermostat
@@BWSO that happened to me as well lol. I would recommend to turn it off of auto. Use heat settings in the winter and switch back to cool settings in the summer. If you have your cool settings set too low on auto, your ac will keep coming on because of the heat settings. If it gets too hot the air will keep kicking back on.
@patriciar4193 If both the A/C and heater are running simultaneously, check your thermostat settings to ensure it is not set to "Auto" mode with conflicting temperature settings for heating and cooling.
Thanks for the tutorial. Excellent. I would like to know how ca i get the fan to turn off. It has not turned off one second and I even turned the AC off and it still brings cold air out of the vents. I want it to automatic. I went thru all the setting and it does say automatic. Just dont know what i am missing to do. Please help me. Thanks
Morning! Very informative to say the least. If you can, how do you go about changing the filters in the smart sensors and how often should they be change?
Hi nice video. I cannot figure out where to set my ecobee to give me less humidity. I know where the setting is but not which way to go to reduce the humidity. Thank you for your video.
Hello I wanted to find out how to resolve the question mark within the cloud icon (your screen has the same problem). You said it will show up if you have not registered the thermostat, but I have registered, thus that is not the issue. It seems that I can't operate the temperature of the thermostat with the app on the phone. I was told maybe I need to turn it off. Any suggestions? Found out that my thermostat needs to be rebooted per the Ecobee agent. To reboot remove thermostat from the wall and put it back on. After that the issue was resolved to include the question mark within the cloud icon.
@denissef2898 If your thermostat only shows "Cool" and "Fan," it may not be configured to control heating. Check the system settings to ensure it is set up to control both heating and cooling.
How do i adjust the actual temp my ecobee is reading, it seems to be a couple degrees higher than other thermometers in the house in the same area? I do have a sensor in another room, does that impact the temp shown on the unit in the hallway? Thanks and great video!
Install is easy! Just use the detailed guide it came with and you will be fine. I installed mine in 2016 I believe and it has been working great ever since.
Ecobee tstat is super easy to install as a professional. I put a hundred on, but I understand things with being a homeowner and diy. Somethings should be left to the pros who know about it. On a hp system, if you blow the fuse on the air handler and replace it with a 5amp. You will fry that ecobee
ok, so I have a question for you. So I have set the schedule and when I put the fan onto auto for both day and night. but it seems that during the night, the fan runs all night long and I would like to know how to change it so that the fan does not run all night long. I would like it to run only when the heat comes on and then when it has reached the set temp. I want the fan to stop as well. How do I do that?
Thank you for the very informative tutorial. I have a question? I understand everything you explained but on my little instructions handout it states that when the flame is orange it means the heater is on if it’s not orange the heater is off. Is that correct? That little piece of information is driving noodles because my flame is not orange. Please advice.
We just got the Ecobee and it's not reading the temperature of the room correctly. I shouldn't have to get up and manually turn up the heat because the room is cold. We have already programmed it. For example: we set the temperature to 71. The thermostat says it's 73 so the heat doesn't come on. I can tell it's colder than 71 so I force it to go on by bumping it to 74. The heat goes on and then the thermostat says the temp is 69, then 68, 67, 66 and then it starts rising. I don't understand!
Quick FYI that cloud icon in the middle on the home screen is to access the weather. Nothing to do with settings for "the cloud". Hate the auto\on toggles. It's impossible to tell if the toggle is set to auto or on.

I’m sure you explained it and I missed it, but whenever I set my temperature, it will say “65 until 9:49” for example. How do I get it to stay at 65 and holding?
1. You can only change the schedule temperatures in the comfort settings screen. 2. It depends which model you have. For the ecobee3 lite, it does not have a speaker.
I moved into a home with this. Am absolutely flummoxed on how to operate it and stay frustrated with it 24/7. This video helped a bit but the settings seem counterintuitive. On older systems the fan setting means it runs all the time which wastes electricity. You say the auto setting means it runs all the time. Also on older ones when you set it to 70 the heat stays on 70. On my ecobee it moves all the time, leaving me freezing most of the time. I just can’t understand any of it. @perlaortiz159 If the unit is off but the fan continues to run, check the fan settings. Ensure it is set to "Auto" rather than "On" to prevent it from running continuously.
