Haha. Different is the theme song for season 3 of the anime TV show "Log Horizon." 🤣 Once I realized this was for an animated show, it totally made sense to me.
"Different" is as fast and frenetic as another song of theirs that often gets overlooked. "Screaming" has an insanely fast pace and guitar riff running through it that never lets up as well. Fun fact: When Kanami was arranging this song, she DID NOT do it slow and then speed it up. She wrote it and learned it FULL SPEED, just like the rest of the band!!
Don't know how they do it but they have just gone up a gear or several. Just so much talent and creativity and such a sense of enjoyment. They are unique in so many areas I hope their management are up to the challenge of gaining them much more international recognition.
What more can you say about this band other than "amazing"? Thanks for doing this in 2 videos; it's nice to be able to hear the song all the way through while watching your reaction, then hearing your analysis in video 2.
This is a "one off" single for the upcoming Japanese Anime to be shown in Japan next year January. This song will not be included in their forthcoming album also to be released January next year.
Part of the pace is that it is written as Theme music for an upcoming Anime. But the "B" side of the single is every bit as hard-paced. If you can, I highly recommend listening to it. "Don't be long" is an instrumental, and IMO, has some Satriani-type vibes to it here and there. IMO, it's the best instrumental they've done, and I LOVE the others. I've got the album pre-ordered.
This song was written like 2 years ago or so, and when the offer came to record an anime title song they edited it to make it more j-anime friendly, so it doesn't have the usual catchy chorus and big drop. The instrumental is written as a practice piece for miku to be able to play 'different', which sounds more mainstream j-metal/rock. It is a grower for a person like me who isn't usually into anime songs.
It is interesting that you listen to Rush as well as BAND-MAID as quite a few people have made comparisons between them. Both MISA (Bass) and Akane (Drums) especially standing out as one of the best rhythm sections currently playing and Kanami....she is one of the best rock music writers and arrangers out there.....not to mention her exceptional guitar playing, keyboards and even occasional singing. These are proper musicians, all their songs require multiple plays to reveal the layers and depth and they use various genres (rock, metal, punk, pop and jazz) all mixed in together. Miku has learned to play rhythm guitar from scratch, taught by Kanami....and to see how far they go to better themselves there is a UA-cam video on youngguitarmagazine where Kanami says she wrote a track (Don't Be Long) just so Miku would be prepared for the fast playing on 'Different'. Worth a look as it has sub-titles and is apparently only up for a short while. A track to watch would be Domination Live from February of this year.....especially as it has an added minute or so instrumentation included...and now has recently added sub-titles.
Band-Maid just released a Limited Time only interview clip of Miku (rhythm g/lyricist) and Kanami (lead g/composer) talking in-depth about their latest single “Different” on YoungGuitar magazine youtube channel. A must watch especially if you’re curious about their songwriting process. Here’s the link with English subtitles ua-cam.com/video/nYHpt6pnaUA/v-deo.html
Hey! Just in case you are not aware they have a new album coming out next month! This song wont be in it though as this was made for an anime show. That riff is so unexpected, and so good, Kanami really is some sort of musical genius. Also check out Lovebites - Holy War Live 2020. Fantastic female metal band from Japan also. Stay safe!
Kanami wrote Different two years ago, but didn't have a use for it. When they were approached to write an anime theme tune, she thought of this and brought it out. Just in case people think they wrote this from scratch for the anime.
btw the CC has the official translated lyrics. this is their farewell song to their current contract w/Revolver Records era. their next album next month will be with a Different company Pony Canyon, and will be pretty much ALL NEW songs on it! Without Holding Back is the only song they've played up til now from it. Don't be Long < the other song with the Different single. you can actually appreciate the single version as it seems more complete... but til then ;) @fancam ua-cam.com/video/GHsnQ-k_Opk/v-deo.html Also check out their interview with Young Guitar Magazine! Miku and Kanami talk about this new track, new album, their new Online LIVE this Sunday, and their Budoukan concert coming in Feb 2021! ua-cam.com/video/nYHpt6pnaUA/v-deo.html
Band-Maid are my favourite band, but another Japanese female band I've got into lately are The Let's Go's. They are a completely different genre, playing old style melodic punk, with a rare sense of fun, and enough energy to power a small Tokyo city block. This is the MV for their ridiculously short blast "Kaiju" (Monster) which barely makes it beyond the minute mark, but it's the most packed minute you'll hear in a long time. ua-cam.com/video/o7boTXBbGpQ/v-deo.html
They are the most incredibly beautiful musical bad asses on the planet and you haven't even scratched the surface! Check out their April Fools 2018 alter ego band, Band Maiko ua-cam.com/video/NNHGABwme50/v-deo.html
You should check out the Japanese band name Scandal. I can give you some suggestions and links for Scandal songs. I hope you do a react video for Scandal. Band-maid kick ass!
They are very talented but even though they are heavier, i just dont get that same feeling of energy with them. Power metal just aint my jam. Maybe its also because so many of them sound the same these days.
Wow! Like a darker, chunkier version of the Kpop band CNBlue.... really great melody, loved each instrument. I need to lean on your better-attuned ear here... could the bass and drums have been on the same page a little better? Just a feeling I had as I listened I definitely want to here more of this group 🙂
Band Maid is a great fill in!! When I first heard them I hated myself because they sound like Paragon meets Katie Perry meets Pantera , they are good period . Are they playing their instruments ? Who knows
Finally! More Band-Maid! Killer track again. Let me know what you want next. Part 2 here: ua-cam.com/video/HIdpoYyfiqg/v-deo.html

LOVEBITES, and then you'll forget about Band-Maid, good stuff but not on the same level.
The look on your face when it kicks in is priceless
Every time you think Band Maid’s technical expertise can’t get any better Misa says hold our beer.
Hellz ya
Haha. Different is the theme song for season 3 of the anime TV show "Log Horizon." 🤣 Once I realized this was for an animated show, it totally made sense to me.
This special band has nothing left to prove to me...but this just steps it up in so many ways....
This is BAND-MAID turned up to 11.
Different came on in my car and I had to be careful because it made me drive really fast! lol
Best band this moment of time

Many reactors said the same thing : soooo good , awesome , ....period .))
Great to hear you have recovered. If you love Bandmaid you'll love Lovebites. Check out Holy Wars live.
There are English subtitles for this music video.

MISA !!! MISA !!! MISA !!! Barefoot Bass Assassin , Like when Miku Says Back out Now.

It's a all female Dragon Force.

This is a commissioned song.
It's the theme music for the anime *_Log Horizon_* 3rd Season!
Hence the intensity, speed, and no breakdown solo.
just finished re watching the last 2 seasons to get ready for season 3.
Kanami wrote Different two years ago, but didn't have a use for it. When they were approached to write an anime theme tune, she thought of this and brought it out.
Just in case people think they wrote this from scratch for the anime.
Other band suggestion? Sokoninaru and NEMOPHILA :)
Nice reaction! You can choose any BAND-MAID song, we like 'em all
Nemophyla is really good.
Controlled Chaos comes to your house.
You know that it's a rock band that you can't laugh at anymore, right?
The story behind this song is as interesting as the song itself,

Bet Kimmy would love Band Maid song Daydreaming. When you finish that try Wagakki Band song Homura
Yeah all reactors says the same "DIFFERENT" bcoz it is. And also the fastest song from the ladies at 210bpm

Band-maid kick ass!
Kanami's brain works differently and much speeded up. I think se regards this a walking pace. The scruffy little genius rules.
Is "Different" faster even than "Rinne"? Does anyone keep score of the BPM?
ありがとうございます(*・ω・)*_ _)ペコリ💞
Bro, pls check out Lovebites (All Japanese female Metal Band) all songs are in English.
Don't leave Nano behind.
They are very talented but even though they are heavier, i just dont get that same feeling of energy with them. Power metal just aint my jam. Maybe its also because so many of them sound the same these days.
You can't do japanese music without experiencing Maximum The Hormone.
If Bando-Maid - Screaming and Puzzle had a baby it would be "Different" :)
Haha. And what a beautiful baby it is :)
@@GaryHolloway-810 other guy said it's "Dilemma" for Bando-Maid x)
@@christopherjohnferrer3771 Hmm I get that a little bit but them opening riffs definitely sound like "Screaming" to me :)
@@GaryHolloway-810 "Yamete Onii-chan!" lol
To me it sounds like a mix of screaming and dilemma
Somehow I got Mars Volta vibes from this. In a best way.
Yall should do a reactionary video to DJ MUSCLEBOY MUSCLEDANCE
pjl_u2 wuz here...... #BandMaid
I like Saiki voice, not a common texture in Japan music industry. However, I still placed Nano above her.
Wow! Like a darker, chunkier version of the Kpop band CNBlue.... really great melody, loved each instrument.

believe it or not, Japanese bands and singers are a million times better live
